According to Merriam-Webster, polyamory can be defined as the state or practice of having more than one open romantic relationship at a time. Polyamory is a relationship structure that is oftentimes not thought of as a form of diversity, which is why we are talking about it on today's show with a special guest named Amanda. “Rapper's Delight”
1 “Rapper’s Delight” From Genre-less to New Genre I was approached in ’77. A gentleman walked up to me and said, “We can put what you’re doing on a record.” I would have to admit that I was blind. I didn’t think that somebody else would want to hear a record re-recorded onto another record with talking on it. I didn’t think it would reach the masses like that. I didn’t see it. I knew of all the crews that had any sort of juice and power, or that was drawing crowds. So here it is two years later and I hear, “To the hip-hop, to the bang to the boogie,” and it’s not Bam, Herc, Breakout, AJ. Who is this?1 DJ Grandmaster Flash I did not think it was conceivable that there would be such thing as a hip-hop record. I could not see it. I’m like, record? Fuck, how you gon’ put hip-hop onto a record? ’Cause it was a whole gig, you know? How you gon’ put three hours on a record? Bam! They made “Rapper’s Delight.” And the ironic twist is not how long that record was, but how short it was. I’m thinking, “Man, they cut that shit down to fifteen minutes?” It was a miracle.2 MC Chuck D [“Rapper’s Delight”] is a disco record with rapping on it. So we could do that. We were trying to make a buck.3 Richard Taninbaum (percussion) As early as May of 1979, Billboard magazine noted the growing popularity of “rapping DJs” performing live for clubgoers at New York City’s black discos.4 But it was not until September of the same year that the trend gar- nered widespread attention, with the release of the Sugarhill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight,” a fifteen-minute track powered by humorous party rhymes and a relentlessly funky bass line that took the country by storm and introduced a national audience to rap. -

Through the creative mediums of lyrical poetry, monologues, and traditional dramatic scenes, Songs for Waiters concerns an owner and two employees at an urban bar/restaurant. Through their work, their interactions with the public and each other, and reflecting on their own lives, the three men unpack contemporary debates on work, violence, and sexuality. Hypersurrealism – Surrealist Literary Hypertexts includes a detailed review of the his- tory of literary/cultural theories in relation to the text/work dichotomy and the still existent supremacy of theories built around the text, author and reader without taking the medium of textual production into consideration. Consequently, it has been one of the most crucial goals of this work to bridge the gap in literary methodology and analysis by opening the door to research on materiality and its impact on form and content. -

Smokey’s Girl Prologue “Your luh-----ve girl is so so sweet. Immediately, he felt the warm sensation travel through his body. However, the feeling wasn’t as intense as the ecstasy he felt his first time so many years ago. The ecstasy he chases every time needle pierces skin. The dragon that he can never quite catch, but is constantly pursuing, courting almost, anxiously awaiting its triumphed encore that will never happen. But this time, he was too anxious, too persistent with his pursuit that the chase turned into a retreat. He had not found the dragon; the dragon had cornered him. Breathing its raging fire in his direction. The heat so overbearing that all he could do is convulse in fear. His body shook uncontrollably, violently. Vomit spewed from his mouth and he started to asphyxiate. Yes, the dragon had found him in that dimly lit room which moments prior was filled with an angelic tune about a man’s appreciation of his lover. Within minutes, Smokey was dead. The needle still pierced his lifeless limb. -

It also happens to be many more things: a diary, a commentary on contemporaneous events, a series of stories, lectures, and diatribes on politics, religion, art, business, philosophy, and pop culture, all in the mostly daily publishing of 365 essays, ostensibly about an album, but really just what spewed from my brain while listening to an album.
