Covid-19 Regulations Re: County Competitions

The GLCGA committee recognises the likely risks relating to the Foursomes format and has undertaken a risk assessment in regards to such. This risk assessment has been interpreted in line with R&A and the impact of Covid-19 on this particular format.

Whilst COVID-related guidelines are in force, the County will be implementing the following guidelines specifically for all County foursomes competitions, namely the Mary Nicholl Foursomes competition and the County Foursomes competition held at Radyr each year.

When playing foursomes golf, players off on alternate holes and play alternate shots. We recommend the following playing protocol:

1. DURING PLAY: Each player MUST only use their own equipment including their own golf which is to be handled only by that player. Players MUST not touch another player’s . 2. When marking and replacing the ball on the putting green this should be conducted by the player whose ball it is.

To give an example of how this will work:

 If Player A off on Hole 1 using her own ball, Player A is the only player permitted to touch the Titleist golf ball on that hole. Under the Rules of Golf:  A partner is permitted to the side's ball in taking relief or identifying a ball, even if it is not his/her turn to play the next shot. Therefore, on Hole 1, only Player A should touch the Titleist ball when lifting to take relief or identifying the ball.  It is also permissible to drop another ball when taking relief. Therefore, on Hole 1, if Player B is required to take relief, Player B is permitted to drop her own golf ball which will then be the ball in play for the rest of Hole 1.  This would also apply should either player take a .  When on the green, if there has been no relief or penalty taken, only Player A is allowed to mark and pick up the Titleist ball on the green, regardless of whose turn it is to putt. Again, only Player A is permitted to replace the Titleist ball on the green and pick up her marker.

On Hole 2, Player B tees off with her Srixon ball and, as per above, only Player B is permitted to touch the Srixon golf ball on Hole 2.
