Two of the seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Finland are located in Rauma. One of the sites, Old Rauma, is an extensive, uniform wood-built town district dating back to the Middle Ages. Old Rauma is a living town district where historical heritage lives on in perfect harmony with modern commerce and local residents. You’ll find an ample range of high-quality cafes, restaurants and charming little boutiques there. The idyllic ambience is complemented by museums, lovely gardens, the marketplace and the impressive medieval Church of the Holy Cross. The other World Heritage Site is the Bronze Age cairn cemetery of Sammallahdenmäki. The stone structures at Sammallahdenmäki – Bronze Age burial cairns built on rocks – bear evidence to the early settlement. Colourful maritime past Seafaring has for centuries brought an international flavour to the life of this small town. Rauma has always earned its livelihood from the sea and in addition has a long tradition of overseas trade, thereby adopting influences from faraway lands. The three tourist islands of Rauma – the Kylmäpihlaja lighthouse island, the Kuuskajaskari fortress island and the Reksaari nature island – are located just off the coast of the town. The archipelago of Rauma belongs to the Bothnian Sea National Park and provides a splendid, memorable setting for those who love the sea and the great outdoors. -

The Finnish Archipelago Coast from AD 500 to 1550 – a Zone of Interaction Tapani Tuovinen [email protected], [email protected] Abstract New archaeological, historical, paleoecological and onomastic evidence indicates Iron Age settle- ment on the archipelago coast of Uusimaa, a region which traditionally has been perceived as deso- lated during the Iron Age. This view, which has pertained to large parts of the archipelago coast, can be traced back to the early period of field archaeology, when an initial conception of the archipelago as an unsettled and insignificant territory took form. Over time, the idea has been rendered possible by the unbalance between the archaeological evidence and the written sources, the predominant trend of archaeology towards the mainland (the terrestrical paradigm), and the history culture of wilderness. Wilderness was an important platform for the nationalistic constructions of early Finnishness. The thesis about the Iron Age archipelago as an untouched no-man’s land was a history politically convenient tacit agreement between the Finnish- and the Swedish-minded scholars. It can be seen as a part of the post-war demand for a common view of history. A geographical model of the present-day archaeological, historical and palaeoecological evi- dence of the archipelago coast is suggested. SEURAHISTORIOITA YMS. Kokoajat ANTTI O. ARPONEN (kuollut 2015) & VESA-MATTI PELTOLA Lista päivitetty viimeksi 26.5.2021. Tavoitteena on ollut mainita seuroista kaikki olemassaoloajan kotikunnat, mutta eritoten alueliitosten aiheuttamissa kotipaikkamuutoksissa on taatusti lukuisia puutteita. Monilla karjalaisseuroilla on ollut toisen maailmansodan jälkeen alaosastoja eri kunnissa, mutta tällaisia tietoja ei kuntakohtiin ole otettu. Esimerkiksi se, että joidenkin forssalaisseurojen kotikunniksi mainitaan Tammela ja Forssa mutta toisten kotipaikaksi ainoastaan Forssa, ei ole virhe: Forssa irrotettiin Tammelasta 3.12.1921, jonka jälkeen perustettujen seurojen kotikunta on siis ollut alusta asti Forssa. Seurojen entisissä ja myöhemmissä nimissä on varmasti paljonkin puutteita. Kirjojen nimet ja tekijätiedot ovat monelta osin tulkinnanvaraisia. Fennica-tietokannasta näyttää puuttuvan tekijä myös lukuisista sellaisista kirjoista, joiden alkusivuilla tekijä(t) on kerrottu. Monien teosten kannessa on hieman erilainen nimi kuin sisäsivuilla, eikä varsinkaan pitkistä nimistä ole aina helppoa sanoa, mikä osa nimestä olisi syytä kirjata ensimmäiseksi. Toimittanut-termiä on käytetty eritoten takavuosina vaihtelevasti, ja monessa teoksessa ”toimittaja” on tosiasiassa kirjoittanut koko teoksen. Kirjojen nimien sisälle on pääsääntöisesti kirjattu ajatusviivoja pisteiden sijasta selkeyden nimissä. Lehti-, vihko- ja moniste-käsitteet ovat osin hämäriä, mutta tällaisia merkintöjä on mukana, jos tiedossa on selvästi ollut, että kyseessä ei ole varsinainen -

E-mail: [email protected] Allium ursinum L. is a perennial bulbous herb of broad-leaved woods of Western and Central Europe. Of two subspecies subsp. ursinum is distributed in Western Europe including the Nordic countries. The general distribution of A. ursinum in the Nordic countries is outlined. The localities for A. ursinum in Finland are the northeasternmost in Europe. The rather few localities are concen- trated to the Åland Islands (Al) and the archipelago of Regio Aboënsis (Ab). They are described in a chronological order of the first find in each municipality. Several localities with A. ursinum as a cultivated plant or as a garden escape are referred to. The habitat requirements for Allium ursinum are discussed. Although A. ursinum has a broad distribution with a clear tendency to occur as a weed, it is still a habitat specialist with a rather narrow range of ecological tolerance as it requires a mesic well-drained soil and drought as well as waterlogging seem to be unfavourable. -

Esitetyt tulokset ovat alustavia. POST-SVEKOFENNISTEN KIVIEN HAURAIDEN RAKENTEIDEN TUTKIMUS SATAKUNNASSA – KENTTÄTYÖT KESÄLLÄ 2009 TIIVISTELMÄ Raportti on kuvaus kenttätöistä kesällä 2009. Tämä työ on osa tutkimuskokonaisuutta, jossa selvitetään hauraan rakenteen kehitystä kallioperässä. Kohteena on ollut Satakun- nan post-Svekofenniset kivet: rapakivi, hiekkakivi ja oliviinidiabaasi. Raportissa kuva- taan havainnointi- ja tutkimusmenetelmää kolmen esimerkkikohteen avulla: oliviini- diabaasi Porin Kallossa, hiekkakivi Nakkilassa, Leistiläjärvellä ja rapakivi Lapin kes- kustassa. Olemme keskittyneet kallioperän rakojen geometriaan ja kinematiikkaan. Kohdekohtaisesti kuvataan raot ja siirrokset, niiden suunnat ja ominaisuudet sekä rako- ja rakoilurakenteet. Pyrimme selvittämään rakojen avulla palaeojännitysten suuntia ja hauraiden rakenteiden kehityshistoriaa. Tutkimuksia tullaan jatkamaan Satakunnassa kesän 2009 kenttätöiden lisäksi aiemmin koottujen aineistojen pohjalta. Tutkimustulok- sia voidaan hyödyntää
