Speaker Profiles (ranked by speech order) Mr. Qiu Xiaohua Former Director of the National Bureau of Statistics Famous Economist Economist of Minsheng Securities China’s options in a changing world The world is enter a new phase of great changes. While the general trend of peaceful development and cooperation remains unchanged, industries, economic drivers and governance are all changing. Isolationism, conservatism and the doctrine of power are becoming stronger. The geopolitical layout is shifting and the friction between developed and emerging economies continues to grow. The interests of developing economies are becoming more differentiated. The rules of the game for economic globalization are being adjusted and upgraded. After 40 years of reform and rapid development, China’s role in the world has changed from that of a mere follower to both a follower and a leader. Both the internal and external developmental environment becoming more complicated and challenging. From the outside, China is facing competition from both developed and developing economies; while within, China is pressured by the enormous scale of transformation and upgrading, and the vested interests of different parties.
