French joie de vivre and German tradion have produced a cultural fusion in Koblenz, with cozy wine taverns, a genuinely welcoming atmosphere and great food – from gourmet cuisine to hearty fare. Lots to do and see in Koblenz. It is a great locaon to start your bike and boat adventure, or connue your trip from Saarburg. Day 2 Koblenz - Moselkern - Cochem 27 km The boat brings you to Alken where you start your first bike tour to Moselkern. Considered to be one of the most romanc part of the Moselle Valley, where the river curves, lies the old town of Cochem. Stroll through the old town, or spend a bit of me exploring the im- pressive castle. Day 3 Cochem - Zell on the Mosel 40 km Today you cycle to Beilstein where you enjoy this beauful city dur- ing a city tour. Your tour ends in the wine city of Zell, with its endless vineyards hugging the river the whole route. Take the me to enjoy some of the local wines and food. Day 4 Zell on the Mosel - Bernkastel - Kues 48 km Today you bike to Traben Trarbach, the centre of art-nouveau archi- tecture. Day 6 Mehring - Trier/Konz 26 km You pedal along to Trier/Konz where the boat awaits you. Enjoy the city with its well-known roman city gate and impressive buildings - Trier is one of the oldest cies in Germany. Explore the sights and sounds of Trier, the cathedrals, museums, churches and even Ro- man Baths. This is a wonderful lile university town, with something for everyone. Day 7 Trier/Konz - Melach - Saarburg 25 or 60 km You have a choice to cycle from Trier to Saarburg along the banks of the Saar or relax on the boat to Saarburg, also known as "lile Ven- ice". Or you can cycle to Melach, where you can visit "Villeroy and Boch". Then ride back to Saarburg. It is a great locaon to end your journey, filled with wonderful small cafes, restaurants and bars.     Wine Estates in Germany BOLLIG-LEHNERT Trittenheim & Piesport Region: MOSEL-SAAR-RUWER Vineyards: Trittenheim (Apotheke, Altärchen) Piesport (Goldtröpfchen, Falkenberg) Dhron (Dhron- Hofberger) Varietals: Riesling Owner: the Bollig family Winemaker: Stefan Bollig Remarks: appealing, light & stylish, crisp predicate Mosel wines Stefan Bollig, is young (vintage 1961!) and passionately devoted to his work, is a fine example of the new generation of Mosel vintners. The family has been producing wine since the 17th Century, but new cellars and house have been built on the outskirts of Trittenheim. Stefan and his wife Jill live in the former estate house in Piesport at the foot of the Goldtröpfchen vineyard (one of the most famous vineyard sites in the Mosel, if not all of Germany), welcoming visitors at their quaint Gutsauschank (wine-pub with light local food). The family tends to the 4 hectares (10 acres) of estate vineyards themselves. These steeply sloping vineyards are composed mainly of slatey soil that imparts a delicate mineral flavor to the wines. Stefan has been managing the estate since 1987, after completing his viticultural studies and practical experience in Trier and Bad Kreuznach, although his father is still actively involved. Dedication to the estate and costly investments has achieved a high standard of quality. Not many small estates would invest into such an expensive and modern low-pressure tank press which is so essential for producing a clear and clean must. The wines ferment and mature in wooden Fuder (1,000 liters) casks in the cool underground cellars, the natural sweetness being retained, where appropriate. Stefan Bollig's wines are stylish, crisp and classic with a fine fruity elegance and good mineral content, not showing excessive sweetness.

    Historische Weinbaulandschaften an der Mosel In der „Regionalinitiative Mosel“ sind Vertreter von Weinbau, Kultur und Tourismus, die Wirtschaftskammer, die Landkreise sowie die Stadt Trier zusammengefasst. Die Steuerungsgruppe der Regionalinitiative hat im November 2013 das Leitprojekt Lebendige Moselweinberge beschlossen. Im Rahmen dieses Leitprojekts soll mit vielfältigen Maßnahmen die bio- logische Vielfalt einer einzigartigen Kulturlandschaft nach Innen und nach Außen besser kommuniziert werden. Davon profitieren sowohl Einheimische als auch Gäste und schließlich erhoffen wir uns davon eine bessere Wertschöpfung für den Steilla- genweinbau. In diesem Rahmen wird auch das Projekt „Historische Weinbaulandschaften“ durch- geführt, das unter der Federführung der Dienstleistungszentren Ländlicher Raum (DLR) Mosel in Bernkastel-Kues und Westerwald-Osteifel in Mayen bearbeitet wird.     Radwandern im Zeller Land Cycling in the Zeller Land Foto: Inge Faust Der Moselradweg Die deutsche Strecke des Moselradweges beginnt in Perl, nahe der französischen Grenze und führt auf ca. 275 Kilometern entlang des markanten Flusslaufs bis zum Deutschen Eck in Koblenz. Er ist eine der beliebtesten Fernstrecken für Radler und verbindet Weinkultur mit abwechslungsreicher Landschaft sowie sehenswerten Städten. Auf der durchgehenden, größtenteils asphaltierten und ufernahen Radstrecke, erlebt man alle Besonderheiten des Moseltals: Urige Weingüter, weltberühmte Weinlagen, antike Stätten und romantische Burgen. Viele Orte bieten attraktive Einkehrmöglichkeiten umgeben von Fachwerkidyll oder Jugendstileleganz. Durch die Flussnähe hat der Moselradweg ein weitgehend ebenes Höhenprol. Flussabwärts sind es insgesamt 560 abfallende und 430 ansteigende Höhenmeter. Daher eignet er sich hervorragend für Radtouren mit Kindern sowie für die Nutzung von Fahrra- danhängern und Tandems. Von den sanften Tälern der Obermosel, über die waldumsäumten Weinberge der Mittelmosel, bis zur felsigen Terrassenmosel lässt sich das faszinierende Moseltal auf dem Rad entspannt erleben!
