As we celebrate 20 years of caring for the community. we look back with appreciation to all of the people who helped us get to where we are today. We've taken some big steps through the past 20 years. Merging the Mattoon Memorial and Charleston Community hospi- tals was no small feat in itself. And since then we've added a Regional Cancer Center; established six busy community clinics; added countless programs and services; added nearly 11 5.000 square feet during our recent construction; and built a solid staff of physicians. Every step of the way, we've been blessed with the support of so many fine people: our founders, board members, donors. employees, volunteers - and of course the residents of all of the communities we serve. whose trust and confidence we've worked so hard to earn. Our thanks to each and every one. We couldn't have done it without you! SPnAHBUSH - LOLN HEALTH SYSTEM €id1000 Health Center Drive RO. Page 2 1 Comments From The Artistic Director Someone once said it takes three elements to make theatre: a performer, a space in which to perform, and an audience. Without you, that vital third clement, there would be no the- atre -not in Sullivan, not in Chicago, not even on Broadway. So, you can see how impor- tant you are to us, not just because you fuel our coffers, but because you fuel our very artis- tic soul! If you see Lost World or watch reruns of Roseanne, no matter how you react, the dinosaurs (reptilian or human) don't change their behavioral patterns. You have no effect, other than financial, on their performances. In theatre, your presence and reactions alter the energy, the very chemistry, of every single performance. In simple terms, we need you to make our performance complete. It is, therefore, altogether appropri- M. In the future, we their wonderful work and caring, and JR and Millie for their promise to continue to delight, as well as challenge and inspire continuing love and inspiration. • Résumé Basics
Résumé Basics Written by Richard Adams Updated/Revised by James Gandre A Few Observations Résumés shed light on who you are, offer the reader a clear indication of your current development, past experiences and, most important, point out your potential for future growth professionally and artistically. In brief, a successfully prepared résumé is a road map to an individual’s past, present and future with the clear purpose of opening doors to the future. In a profession where it often looks and feels like others have control over our destinies, please remember YOU have control over your résumé, its contents, its construction, its point of view, its graphic design, etc. Be absolutely certain that it clearly represents you, your accomplishments and your goals. In addition to being an information/fact sheet, the carefully and responsibly prepared résumé is a piece of advertising, an advertisement for yourself. Résumé Construction ➲ Paper – Excellent quality; standard size (8 ½ x 11); white, off-white, tan, gray. ➲ Fonts – Choose clean, clear fonts (do not use Old English, Script or some other “flowery” font). ➲ Length – Use only one page for performance résumés. If you absolutely need to use more than one page, make sure to put your name and the page number at the top of each page following the first page. ➲ Outline form – A résumé is an outline of your past experience and achievements – NOT an autobiography. Once you have started to use a particular style, remain consistent in its use. ➲ Text – Never use personal pronouns (i.e., “I played in…”) and “little” adjectives. Use action verbs, descriptive adjectives and adverbs.

◎ ABOUT THIS PROJECT ◎ This video is the culminating result of one of Shining Light’s most expansive programs, the Collaborative Arts Project. Incarcerated participants are invited to encourage and inspire thousands of their peers in prisons across the country through original artwork, created from prompts like “What I Wish You Knew” and “Hope In Hardship.” Pieces are then selected to be produced by professional artists/filmmakers and curated in a 60-minute video with supportive messages from public figures and former participants of the SL community who have since been released. These videos are then sent back into prisons for an uplifting facility-wide experience. The final production “Creations of a Caged Bird, volume 2” will be distributed to partnering prisons to be played on TVs and individual electronic tablets in: ○ Pennsylvania ○ North Dakota ○ Ohio ○ Cook County Jail system (Chicago) ○ South Carolina ○ Rikers Island Jails (NYC) ◎ RUN OF SHOW ◎ ● “Man Up” p. 4 ● “Caught in the Silence” p. 9 ● “Reaching Out” p. 5 ● “Speaking to Society & p. 10 ● “What I Wish You Knew” p. 6 the Powers that Be” ● “Our Journey” p. 7 ● “Jump into your Destiny” p. 11 ● “My Life” p. 8 ● “Hope in Hardship” p. 12 ● “Caught in the Silence” p. 9 ● “Time in Heaven” p. 14 ◦ Artist Bios: p. 15 - 21 ALL PIECES WERE WRITTEN BY PEOPLE INCARCERATED IN PENNSYLVANIA A REFLECTION FROM ONE OF OUR CURRENT PARTICIPANTS: It reminded me that there are many forms of incarceration- physical/mental.
