“I found NET to be a great catalyst to create a youth ministry momentum in our parish and Diocese. The prayerfulness, witness and energy of the young people drew young people and adults. The NET team makes a real effort to call forth the participation and education of adults and youth to continue in leadership roles in the local parish after the NET team has finished it's time among us. I have very much appreciated all of our involvement with NET teams.” -Archbishop Murray Chatlain (Archbishop of Keewatin–Le Pas) Inside you will find: detailed information about parish teams how they will be useful in your parish how you can apply to have a team come to your parish NET Ministries of Canada Copyright 2014 | 1820 St. Joseph Blvd., Orleans ON | 1.877.521.4426 | www.netcanada.ca What is NET? “Evangelizing is in fact the grace and vocation proper to the Church, her deepest identity. She exists to evangelize” (Pope Paul VI). NET (National Evangelization Teams) exists to fulfil this mission. Specifically, NET’s mission is to challenge young Catholics to love Christ and embrace the life of the church. NET Ministries of Canada, established in 1994, began with a travelling retreat team consisting of young adult volunteer missionaries. To this day our Encounter Teams (travelling teams) go from town to town proclaiming the Gospel of Christ to over 25,000 young people in schools and parishes. Every retreat young people encounter Jesus in a new and personal way. After retreats, many parishes look for support to continue helping their young people grow in love for Christ and the Church. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, NET’s answer to this question is our iNFUSE (parish-based) teams. What is iNFUSE? iNFUSE is a method of youth ministry for your parish, customized to your needs. The goal of iNFUSE is to create a foundation of youth ministry. We aim to accomplish this goal through certain objectives and building blocks (see next page), chosen with your parish to best fit your community. One of the most difficult things about a youth ministry program in a parish is getting it started. Since 2001, NET has helped jump- start youth ministry programs in over 29 parishes across Canada and Ireland. An iNFUSE team consists of 6-8 young adults on fire for Christ, having received over 600 hours of formation, and who are passionate about bringing the love of Jesus to young people. An iNFUSE team can lay the foundation that a healthy and sustainable youth ministry needs. Long-term vision for youth ministry in the parish made, the parish should prepare for the team's arrival in early October Sustainability Building a solid foundation of youth ministry often takes 3-5 years. iNFUSE is just the beginning! We pray that there will be youth ministry in your parish for years to come. iNFUSE is a two year model of youth ministry which begins the process of creating a sustainable foundation of youth ministry. The focus of year one is to outreach and evangelize. The team will outreach to students, give them an encounter with Christ, and help them go deeper into their Catholic faith. The focus of year two is to disciple youth and train leaders. The team will train leaders and focus on replacing themselves, as well continued evangelization and discipleship of youth. We ask that every parish hire a full- time youth minister when the team leaves to build on the foundation that has been started. If you have any concerns about a two-year program, please contact the iNFUSE Coordinator. NET Ministries of Canada Copyright 2014 | 1820 St. Joseph Blvd., Orleans ON | 1.877.521.4426 | www.netcanada.ca Your Commitment Vision We envision for every parish a youth ministry that will grow and flourish for years to come and for young people to be evangelized long after the team is gone. In order for iNFUSE to be truly successful, it is important that your parish is well aware and enthusiastic for this vision for youth ministry. Letting your parish know that you are applying for an iNFUSE team and getting them on board is very important in this process. Long-term commitment and dedication from the parish, while the team is there and after the team leaves, is vital not only in creating a foundation of youth ministry, but in making youth ministry sustainable. A greater commitment from the parish, especially in the form of volunteers, is required for success. A key part of iNFUSE is to train local volunteers to help with and run the various programs the team starts. Building a solid foundation of youth ministry often takes 3-5 years so iNFUSE is just the beginning!
