Volume 77 Number 10 December 2011 24 Pages Superintendent’s Message Janet Sifferman, Superintendent It has certainly been a busy and eventful fall season and the winter holidays are high on the horizon. While the district has experienced some unique challenges so far this year, we also have much for which we are thankful as well as people and events that have inspired us. Adversity reminds us of what is truly important and reaffirms the strong and cohesive “family” we have here at Hartland Consolidated Schools. Our teachers, administrators, students and families continue to work together to deliver and achieve educational excellence. I am extremely proud to be the superintendent of a district that can persevere in both good times and bad and continue to put our children first. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their continued support and send my wish to all for a wonderful holiday season! Best Wishes for a Joyous Holiday Season and a Peaceful New Year! Our students are growing everyday into special young people. Fall and winter are always special seasons at Round because of the special events that occur. This fall was especially busy!! Here are a few of the highlights: The Fall Fun Run was a success this year. Our students raised over $7,000 for the PTO in a great effort of support for our school. The run was delayed because of rainy weather this year, but the students had a blast. Our biggest holiday is always Halloween. This year’s theme was “Disney Movies.” Of course our staff did a creative job with costumes this year. The weather was once again great for the parade and we had a great parent turnout. We kicked off our new “accelerated reader” program this fall. Third and fourth grade classes compete against each other in the name of reading. Each class represents a different NFL team and work as a team to read books. They can score touchdowns and field goals as well as earning MVP and captain status. It will conclude with our Super Bowl to celebrate the accomplishments of all our young readers. Round School also participated in the Big Boy Celebrity Server fundraiser. Donations went to the Optimist Club which helps people and families in need. Members of the Round School staff served tables, cleaned tables, and welcomed a great number of Round families.
