DEFENCE REGULATIONS MADE UNDER ARTICLE 3 OF THE EMERGENCY POWERS (COLONIAL DEFENCE) ORDER IN COUNCIL, 1939, AND THE EMERGENCY POWERS (DEFENCE) ACT, 1939. IN EXERCISE of the powers vested in him by Article 3 of the Emergency Powers (Colonial Defence) Order in Council, 1939, and the Emergency Powers (Defence) Act, 1939, the High Commissioner has made the following Defence Regulations :— 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Defence (Bills of Citation. Exchange etc.) Regulations, 1912. 2. —(1) These Regulations shall apply to !)ills of exchange and Application, promissory notes which — (a) at the date of publication of these Regulations in the Ga• zette are held as security for a loan granted for agricultural purposes by an approved company within the meaning of the Short Term Crop Loans Ordinance, 1935, and, No. 27 of 1935. (b) fell due for payment between the 1st January, 1937, and the 31st December, 1937, both dates inclusive, and (c) at the date of the publication of these Regulations in the Gazette, are unpaid in wdiole or in part. (2) For the purpose of this Regulation the term "agricultural purposes" includes husbandry of all kinds, purchase of live stock, seed and fertilizer, and improvements (whether temporary or per• manent) to the land designed to conserve the soil, to improve the fertility of the land, or to provide accommodation for live stock or storage for produce. — 167 — 168 Amendment of 3. IN EXERCISE of the powers vested in him by subsection (2) of section 3 of the Urban Property Tax Ordinance, 1940, the High No. 42 of 1940. Tax Ordinance shall be varied, and the urban area of Beit Jala for the purpose of the said Ordinance of 1940 shall, as from the first day of April, 1942, be the area comprised in and outlined in red on the Survey Department map of Beit Jala and environs on the 1 :5,000 scale*. Copies of the map and of a schedule giving the full description of the boundaries of the said area signed by the Director of Land Settlement are exhibited at the District Offices, Jerusalem, the Land Registry, Jerusalem, Beit Jala Municipal Office, and the Office of the Director of Land Settlement, Jerusalem, and are open for inspection by any member of the public at any of these places between the hours of 10 a.m. and noon. ORDER BY THE HIGH COMMISSIONER UNDER SECTION 5. IN EXERCISE of the powers vested in him by section 5 of the Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1934, the High Commissioner, No. l of 1934. after considering the report made by a Commission of Enquiry in accordance with the provisions of that section, is pleased to order and it is hereby ordered as follows :— 1. This Order may be cited as the Beit Jala (Variation of Citation. Municipal Area) Order, 1942. 2. The area of the Municipal Corporation of Beit Jala as set Variation of out under the name of "Beit Jala" in the first schedule to the municipal area Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1934, shall be extended, and of Beit Jala. the paragraphs setting out the area in the said schedule as aforesaid shall be deleted and the following description of the area substituted therefor :— "The area comprised in and outlined in red on the Survey De partment map of Beit Jala and environs on the 1:5,000 scale,— being the urban area of Beit Jala, as declared in the Order of the High Commissioner in Council under the Urban Property ׳ Tax Ordinance, 1940, published in the Gazette No. 1164 of the 22nd January, 1942. Copies of the said map and of a schedule giving the full de scription of the boundaries of the said area signed by the Di rector of Land Settlement are exhibited at the District Offices, Jerusalem, the Land Registry, Jerusalem, Beit Jala Muni cipal Office, and the office of the Director of Land Settlement, Jerusalem, and are open for inspection by any member of the public at any of these places between the hours of 10 a.m. and noon."
