Esas bon- dades recibieron a la primera expedición encabezada por Cris- tóbal Colón cuando en 1492 sus tres carabelas anclaron en el municipio de Luperón de la provincia de Puerto Plata, nombre que heredó luego de que el Almirante bautizara a la Loma Isa- bel de Torres como “Monte de Plata” por la forma en que re- flejaba la luz del sol.
