TEACHING EXPERIENCE THE CHAPIN SCHOOL, , NY Upper School English Teacher 2011-present Teach four sections (15-18 students each) of high school English (variably including 8th, 9th, 10th, and 12th grades) at a . Responsibilities include designing curricula; developing lesson plans and assignments; devising in-class activities; initiating large- and small-group discussions; providing extensive constructive feedback on all student work including drafts; grading; examination development, administration and grading; and communicating effectively with students, administrators and parents about each child’s academic development. Reports are written at the end of the Fall and Winter trimesters.

Upper School Advisor 2011-present Meet weekly one-on-one with each of eight student advisees as a formal mentor; assist them in identifying areas of academic and personal strength and development, and aid them in developing strategies to manage conflicts and challenges; support advisees in planning for two student-led parent conferences per year. In conjunction with the school psychologist, led implementation of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence’s “Anchors of Emotional Intelligence” in the Upper School in 2016.

Yearbook Advisor 2011-present Meet weekly with editorial staff to plan, design, lay out, and organize the Yearbook; teach layout and design principles; approve pages; keep students on deadline. Expanded Yearbook program to include a JV Yearbook team of grades 8-10 and a Middle School Yearbook Club for grades 6-7.
