CONDEMNATION of COMMUNISM in PONTIFICAL MAGISTERIUM Since Pius IX Till Paul VI
CONDEMNATION OF COMMUNISM IN PONTIFICAL MAGISTERIUM since Pius IX till Paul VI Petru CIOBANU Abstract: The present article, based on several magisterial documents, illus- trates the approach of Roman Pontiffs, beginning with Pius IX and ending with Paul VI, with regard to what used to be called „red plague”, i.e. communism. The article analyses one by one various encyclical letters, apostolic letters, speeches and radio messages in which Roman Pontiffs condemned socialist theories, either explicitly or implicitly. Keywords: Magisterium, Pope, communism, socialism, marxism, Christianity, encyclical letter, apostolic letter, collectivism, atheism, materialism. Introduction And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ (Rev 12,3-4.13.17). These words, written over 2.000 years ago, didn’t lose their value along time, since then and till now, reflecting the destiny of Christian Church and Christians – „those who guard the God words and have the Jesus tes- timony” – in the world, where appear so many „dragons” that have the aim to persecute Jesus Christ followers. -
In Fatima on the 8Th Day of the Novena
The Message of Fatima 100th Anniversary – 2017 1914-Apparition At 7 years old I (Lucia) began tending our flock of sheep. One day as we (Lucia & some friends) saw for the 1st time a figure that had a human shape, whiter than snow and which the sun turned transparent. This apparition recurred twice again without manifesting itself and always suspended in the air, over the wood at the bottom of the “Cabezo.” When questioned by her mother, “As I did not know how to explain clearly and to free myself from questions, I replied that it looked like someone wrapped in a very white sheet.” 1st 1916 Apparition of the Angel After quickly praying the rosary Lucia dos Santos with cousins Francisco & Jacinta Marto started to play a game. “We were feeding our flocks in a property belonging to my parents called “Chousa Velha,” which lies at the bottom of a hill called “Cabezo,” on the east side. It was there that the Angel appeared to us for the 1st time in the form of a youth, as white as snow, shining more brightly then the sun and as transparent as crystal. We began to see this light coming towards us and thus we gradually distinguished the features. We were taken by surprise and being half bewildered we did not say a word. On reaching us he said, “Don’t be afraid. I am the Angel of Peace. Pray with me!” And kneeling down, he bowed his forehead to the ground and made us repeat these words three times: My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love Thee! I beg pardon of You for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love You.” “Pray thus. -
Fatima and the Holy Father in This Evening's Talk on Fatima and The
Fatima and the Holy Father In this evening’s talk on Fatima and the Holy Father, I am going to cover both the Pope in the message of Fatima and the history of the Popes’ response to the Fatima message from 1917 to the present, ending with insights from Pope Benedict XVI’s recent visit to Fatima. Reference to the Holy Father occurs at least four times in the “secret” revealed to the seers on July 13, 1917 …We then looked up at Our Lady, who said to us so kindly and so sadly: “You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace. The war is going to end: but if people do not cease offending God, a worse one will break out during the Pontificate of Pius XI. When you see a night illumined by an unknown light, know that this is the great sign given you by God that he is about to punish the world for its crimes, by means of war, famine, and persecutions of the Church and of the Holy Father. To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart and the Communion of reparation on the First Saturdays. If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. -

Consecration and Entrustment to Mary
Consecration and entrustment to Mary For centuries, Marian devotions among Roman Catholics have included many examples of personal or collective acts of consecration and entrustment to the Virgin Mary, with the Latin terms oblatio, servitus, commendatio and dedicatio having been used in this context.[2] Consecration is an act by which a person is dedicated to a sacred service, or an act which separates an object, location or region from a common and profane mode to one for sacred use.[3] The Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments clarifies that in this context, "It should be recalled, however, that the term "consecration" is used here in a broad and non-technical sense: the expression is use of 'consecrating children to Our Lady', by which is intended placing children under her protection and asking her maternal blessing for them".[2] Consecration to the Virgin Mary by Roman Catholics has taken place from three perspectives, namely personal, societal and regional; and generally in three forms: to the Virgin herself, to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and to the Immaculata. In Catholic teachings, consecration to Mary does not diminish or substitute the love of God, but enhances it, for all consecration is ultimately made to God.[4] Pope Leo XIII, specially encouraged everyone to make acts of consecration to the Virgin Mary based on the methods of Saint Louis de Montfort. Pope Benedict XV also provided The Blessed Virgin Mary as the strong support for Marian consecration. Virgin of Mercy venerated as The Virgin of the Navigators, 1531–36, Early in the 20th century, Saint Maximilian Kolbe, called the "Apostle of with her protective mantle covering Consecration to Mary", began a vigorous program of promoting consecration to the those entrusted to her.[1] Immaculata.[5] Theologian Garrigou-Lagrange designated personal consecration to Mary as the highest level amongMarian devotions. -

It is a letter intended to travel— to circulate. However in modern times it has become almost exclusively used to denote teachings from the Pope. Comparing an encyclical to other kinds of official Roman Catholic documents is a good way to understand the significance of an encyclical. Firstly, when the pope makes a declaration of some article of faith or moral law it is -
Nostra Aetate’: a Brief History of the Development of Catholic Church Teaching on Muslims and the Religion of Islam from 1883 to 1965
ARAM, 20 (2008) 299-316. doi: 10.2143/ARAM.20.0.2033134A. UNSWORTH 299 LOUIS MASSIGNON, THE HOLY SEE AND THE ECCLESIAL TRANSITION FROM ‘IMMORTALE DEI’ TO ‘NOSTRA AETATE’: A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF CATHOLIC CHURCH TEACHING ON MUSLIMS AND THE RELIGION OF ISLAM FROM 1883 TO 1965 Dr. ANDREW UNSWORTH (Heythrop College, University of London) INTRODUCTION The documents of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965) presented a positive evaluation of Muslims and the religion of Islam.1 As Robert Caspar reflects; when in 1965 the first sentence of Nostra Aetate art.3 says: ‘Upon the Moslems, too, the Church looks with esteem’, it is significant in that it is, ‘the first time in the history of the Church that the Magisterium, in solemn Council, advocates an attitude of esteem and of friendship towards Islam and the Mus- lims’.2 This institutional change of heart and mind was precipitated, largely, by the great Catholic scholar Louis Massignon (1883-1962); French intellectual, Churchman, social activist, and latterly Catholic priest of the Melkite (Arabic- speaking) Rite. Although Massignon died the same year that Vatican II began the influence of Massignon and his associates was strongly in evidence. Two short statements made by the Council refer to the Muslims, and both Lumen Gentium 16 and Nostra Aetate 3 owe much of their content to his intellectual and spiritual legacy.3 Massignon had early associations with Charles de Foucauld whose irenic approach to the Muslims was a considerable influence on the young Mas- 1 In this paper I will refer to the Second Vatican Council as ‘Vatican II’. -

Timothy Pfeiffer Introduction Whenever the term the “great Secret of Fatima” is used, it generally refers to the famous Third Secret written down by Sr. Lucia in January 1944, which should have been revealed in 1960, but which was kept in the greatest silence by the Vatican until 2000 when it was supposedly published The central chapters of this book will deal with this important matter. However, the essential message of this book wants to present a deeper reality: Fatima is, with its whole message and all appari- tions of Our Lady, a great Secret of God’s mercy, his mysterious plan reserved for the last times of the world, when He will reveal to the world the great majesty and grandeur of Our Lady as the last great gesture of his mercy and our ultimate hope Wherever her requests are accomplished, a shower of graces will fall in abundance on the countries, dioceses, religious orders, institutions, families, and on each soul. -

The commentary which follows is from Father Carroll. Pope Pius XII - " Mais de uma vez" (October 31 , 1942) Among the Marian deeds of Pius XII, only the definition of the As sumption exceeds in importance his· consecration of the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This was first done at the close of the radio address to Fatima, October 31, 1942, here translated, then renewed December 8, 1942, in St. Peter's. Subsequently the pope was to refer to the consecration again and again, to urge its renewal by individuals, by families, by parishes, by dioceses, by nations. Mention of it occurs in many important encyclicals, e.g., Mystici corporis (June 29, 1943), Menti Nostrae (on the priesthood, September 23 , 1950),Haurietis aquas (on the Sacred Heart, May 15, 1956).
