This secures the steel wire in a loop at its end to attach to other components. Cause: Lab testing confirmed incorrect grade of copper used for ferrule at installation. Ferrule Impact: 1CC closed for whole day Action: All ferrules inspected, but fatigue is hidden on the inside. Clamps as “belt and braces” trialled. Renewal proposal for further clamps to be Clamp installed. OLE – Weaste – Parafil Rope Event: Failure of parafil rope - insulated supporting rope. -

Part 1 ITEM NO. 5 ___________________________________________________________________ REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE LEAD MEMBER FOR STRATEGIC PLANNING ___________________________________________________________________ TO CABINET ON THE 13TH OCTOBER 2015. ___________________________________________________________________ TITLE: Review of Parking, Salford. ___________________________________________________________________ RECOMMENDATIONS: That the City Mayor, in consultation with Cabinet approves the following recommendations. • That parking charges be frozen at levels set in November 2013, through the 2015/16 financial year. • That the half-hour free parking on car parks is maintained. • That the currently agreed operating hours are maintained. • That the £50 per household, annual fee is not increased for future resident parking schemes. • That the criteria identified at paragraph 2.20 of the report relating to requests for resident parking schemes is implemented. • That an increase in the number of electric charging points is approved and that the first four hours of free parking for electric vehicles whilst charging, is maintained. • That the recommendations at section 6 and 8 of the attached report are agreed in relation to the introduction of further pay and display locations, disposal of car parks, policy criteria and changes in management arrangements. ___________________________________________________________________ EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Parking charges were introduced in Salford during the early 1990s on some of the Council’s off-street car parks. The charges remained static over a number of years with small increases being applied throughout the City on an irregular basis, the last being in 2011. Following representations made by some Elected Members, the City Mayor called for a review of parking in the City. This report examines parking in general, the history behind the introduction of parking charges in Salford, the current position and recommendations for future charging policy taking into account charging policies of neighbouring Councils. -

Broadway on the Eccles line and Imperial War Museum on the Intu Trafford Centre line are nearby too. -

However, Salford has not yet reached its full potential with forecasts for significant population and economic growth with the number of forecast jobs and contribution to Gross Value Added both outstripping the forecasts for Greater Manchester, the region and UK. ECCLES STATION NEWS NOVEMBER 2015 NEWS We must accept that autumn is here but a temporary compensation is provided by the splendid colours of the pre-fall foliage. ESN is therefore going to indulge readers with images of autumn taken at our railway station (all courtesy of J E Rayner). The new real time information on the platforms at Eccles appears to be working very well. It states clearly when a replacement bus is in operation, giving the expected times of the buses. (But the display and the recorded announcement states that the bus will be departing from the platforms! You couldn’t make it up. Sub Ed) 1 Arriva Trains Wales is now running the Club 55 offer of bargain fares as well as Trans Pennine Express. See http://www.arrivatrainswales.co.uk/Club55/Buy/ Travel using a Club 55 ticket is not permitted before 0900 Monday to Friday except between the following locations (in either direction): o Shrewsbury – Aberystwyth/Pwllheli o Shrewsbury – Llanelli/Swansea via Llandrindod o Chester – Holyhead/Llandudno/Blaenau Ffestiniog o Neath – Milford Haven/Pembroke Dock/Fishguard Harbour o Wrexham Central - Bidston Travel is not permitted on services arriving into London Marylebone before 1000, or departing from London Marylebone between 1600 and 1900 (Monday-Friday).
