Rochdale Summary GMTS2040 Implementation Plan 15.10.20 1. Introduction This Implementation Plan sets out how we will work towards our priorities including economic growth, improving the environment and social inclusion by building on Rochdale’s planned and current transport projects, many of which are set out in the Greater Manchester Transport Strategy 2040 5-Year Delivery Plan (2020-2025). While the 5-year Delivery Plan tends to consider large, medium and long-term transport schemes, this Implementation Plan is mainly focussed on local, neighbourhood level priorities and interventions to 2025. A summary of strategic schemes within the 5-Year Delivery Plan are included on Map 1. Rochdale Council in its Corporate Plan 2019-2022 “Prosperous People and Places” outlines a vision of “Making our Borough a great place to grow up, get on and live well”. It places an emphasis on prosperity for people who are healthy, safe, happy and available to participate fully in life, in places that grow and change to provide strong local economies providing opportunities and enhance quality of life. Indicators of success in achieving this are: Accessible quality highways and transport options including cycling and walking; Air and land, free from pollution and infrastructure that protects against climate change by using natural and renewable resources; More people are physically active including the over 50’s; People have access to good or outstanding places of learning; Reduced crime and anti-social behaviour. Application for a Scholar’s Concessionary Permit Before completing this application form please check that this is the most suitable product for the type of journeys that you make. This permit entitles the holder to pay the concessionary fare on bus, train or Metrolink to travel to and from school or college Monday to Friday before 9pm term time only. It does not allow the purchase of return or season tickets. You may wish to consider other products which offer monthly and weekly tickets if you make other journeys for example evenings, weekends and non-term time. Please visit www.tfgm.com or a Travelshop for more information and visit your local bus operators website before making your application. www.tfgm.com Conditions of eligibility The scholar making the application: • must be permanently resident within Greater Manchester • must be aged from 16 years to 19 years (extended to the end of the academic year in which the 19th birthday is reached). For the purposes of the regulation the academic year is deemed to commence on 1 August • must attend a FE course (not HE course) at a day school or college of further education • must not be in receipt of any other free or concessionary travel permit issued by Transport for Greater Manchester or the Local Authority • must not be attending school/college on a day release, block release or as part of their employment. Permits required for the start of a new academic year in September can be applied for from 1 August. Conditions of issue • This permit entitles the holder to travel to and from the school/college stated on the permit, Monday to Friday before 9pm during term time, and for other journeys if supported by a valid Journey Variance Voucher. -

FROM THE SECRETARY: TAKE NOTE: The Annual General meeting of the Mid Cheshire Rail Users Association will take place on TUESDAY 27 JUNE 2017 at 8pm in the Plumley Village Hall, Plumley Moor Road WA16 0TR - some 5 minutes’ walk from Plumley railway station (in the direction of the village, from the station bridge you turn right). The meeting will be followed by a presentation given by Liam Sumpter, Northern’s Regional Director Central. Based in Manchester, the region stretches as far north as Clitheroe and Colne, down to Crewe, Stoke on Trent and Buxton. A copy of the minutes from the 2016 AGM can be found on the MCRUA website. CHAIRMAN’S COMMENTS by John Oates We’re pleased to provide our latest “Rail Report” enclosing the Mid Cheshire Summer Timetable commencing on Sunday 21 May. This has no changes from the previous winter timetable. The MCRUA committee, along with Friends Groups on the Line and the Community Rail Partnership members have received the details of the proposed Draft of the Mid Cheshire Line Timetables for the Revised “Two trains an hour” Service pattern from May 2018 for consultation, although Northern are saying they are a long way off being finalised.
