The psyllids were observed causing injuries on leaves of Cercis siliquastrum and Tipuana tipu respectively in urban areas of Faro, southern Portugal. The Psyllidae is the largest family of jumping plant lice with a cos- literature. We report records of 25 species of aphids collected from four species of woody plants (Pinus sylvestris, Picea abies, Betula pubescens and B. pendula)at50 study sites in Northern Europe, located from 59° to 70° N and from 10° to 60° E. Critical evaluation of earlier publications demonstrated that in spite of the obvi- ous limitations of our survey, the obtained information substantially contributed to the knowledge of the distribution of aphids in North European Russia, includ- ing Murmansk oblast (103 species recorded to date), Republic of Karelia (58 spe- cies), Arkhangelsk oblast (37 species), Vologda oblast (17 species) and Republic of Komi (29 species). We confirm the occurrence of Cinara nigritergi in South- ern Karelia; Pineus cembrae, Cinara pilosa and Monaphis antennata are for the first time recorded in Norway. A. The mealybug Balanococcus kwoni Pellizzari & Danzig, an Asian pest of bamboo, is recorded from Britain for the first time. Eleven species of scale insect and seven species of whitefly are recorded outdoors from Watsonian Kent for the first time. A third of all scale insect species and half the whitefly species found outdoors in Watsonian Kent are non-native introductions. None of the introduced species, however, appear to have any serious negative impact on native biodiversity, ecosystems, forestry or crops, although they do have an economic and aesthetic impact on ornamental plants in urban areas. Diaspidiotus pyri (Lichtenstein) has been recorded as an occasional, minor pest of apple; and the presence of non-native scales on ornamental plants has prevented the issuing of plant-passports for export. Naturalised non-native scale insect species are more abundant and frequently more damaging to ornamental plants in urban areas than native scale species.

Acizzia jamatonica is native to East Asia, and has spread rapidly in Europe since it was first reported from Italy in 2002. It was first collected from Albizzia julibrissin in Podgorica, September 2009, and subsequently from Albizzia sp. and A. julibrissin in Herceg Novi, October 2010, and June and October 2012, and from A. julibrissin in Kotor, October 2012. Glycaspis brimblecombei is native to Australia, and has been rapidly spreading in Europe since it was first reported from Portugal and Spain in 2007. It was collected on Eucalyptus camaldulensis in Bar, October 2012. Both species of psyllid have the potential to damage amenity trees in urban environments and in commercial plant nurseries. Coccids remained in the primary habitat — the forest litter — and retain­ ed the primary, seiniparasitic feeding behaviour much longer than any other Homoptera. Specialization to this habitat caused modifications of leg (one claw), wing shedding and lar- valization in female, dipterism, polymorphism and degeneration of male, and origin of resting stages in male ontogeny. Main radiation occurred also in this time. With the appearance of angiosperms, coccids became true parasites. Apterism in female directed their evolu­ tion towards sedentary life behaviour and development of protective systems. Fragility of male brought about diverse and elaborated chromosome systems. The combination of adaptation to soil habitat with specialization to parasitic life behaviour made the scale insects peculiar with respect to morphology and biology. The appearance of main radiations before acquisition of parasitic life habit resulted in morphological diversity, heterogenity of endosymbiotic systems and convergency of protecting devices. Two species were introduced into Europe from other continents (Acizzia jamatonica (Kuwayama) and Trioza neglecta Loginova, 1978), while the following three species Calophya rhois (Löw, 1877), Homotoma ficus (Linnaeus, 1758) and Cacopsylla pulchella (Löw, 1877) are originally European, having extended their habitat from the Medatiterranean Basin to the North of Europe. Distribution, morphology and biology of the determined species of jumping plant-lice are studied in this manuscript. Key words : Psylloidea, jumping plant-lice, Serbia, alien species INTRODUCTION Psyllids or jumping plant-lice are small sup-sucking insects, 1-10 mm long. Together with white flies, aphids and scale insects they constitute suborder Sternorrhyncha within the order Hemiptera. They usually develop on woody dicotyledons (Burckhardt, 1994), except for several species from genus Livia, developing on monocotyledons. Most species have very restricted host plant ranges. More than three-quarters of psylloid species are free-living in larval stages, while other develop in open or closed galls. Australian species from subfamilies Spondyliaspidinae, Pachypsyllinae and Macrocorsinae build waxy coverings, called lerps. Damage on plants can be induced either directly by sap-sucking, or by the excretion of honey-dew while feeding, which is suitable for sooty mold development. Several species of jumping plant-lice are vectors of bacterial or viral pathogens, such as phytoplasma in the first place, so they pose a potential danger for cultivated plants.
