MARTA proposed modifications for Routes 49, 50, 79, 95, 172 (to be replaced by the New 872), New 177, 178, 192, 850, 853, for April 2019 Service Modifications. Route 49: McDonough Boulevard: It is proposed that Route 49 be realigned to operate along Ted Turner Drive to Mitchell Street (inbound) and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive (outbound). Service along Trinity Avenue and Forsyth Street will continue to be provided by Route 813. Route 50: Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway: It is proposed that all Route 50 trips serve the UPS Distribution Center on Fulton Industrial Boulevard. Service to Atlanta Industrial Park is proposed to be served by modifications to Route 850. Route 79: Sylvan Hills It is proposed that Route 79 be realigned to provide service to the Martel Homes community. At Springdale Road & Cleveland Avenue, the proposed Route 79 will turn right (west) on Cleveland Avenue, left on Norman Berry Drive and left on Marie Head Terrace, assuming the Martel Homes loop from Route 192. From here, Route 79 is proposed to continue along the current Route 192 alignment to East Point Station via Calhoun Avenue, Bayard Street, Holcomb Avenue, Randall Street, Washington Avenue, R.N. Martin Street, Irene Kidd Parkway and Main Street. Current Route 79 passengers along Sylvan Road (north of Langston Avenue) and Murphy Avenue are proposed to be served by new Route 872. Stops along East Cleveland Avenue, Jefferson Terrace, Jefferson Avenue and R.N. Martin Street (north of Irene Kidd Parkway) are proposed for discontinuation due to underutilization. Instead, these areas will be accessible to transit services along Cleveland Avenue (Route 78) and Sylvan Road (Route 872). These proposed adjustments are based on recommendations from the Comprehensive Operations Analysis with improved frequency from the City of Atlanta More MARTA initiative. Route 95: Metropolitan Parkway: It is proposed that Route 95 be extended south to serve College Park Station, assuming portions of the current Route 172. From Dogwood Drive, Route 95 is proposed to continue south across the railroad tracks, left on South Central Avenue, right on Atlanta Avenue, right on Doug Davis Drive, continue on Virginia Avenue, left on Atlanta Street, left on Princeton Drive, right on Main Street, left on Lee Street Connector, left on East Main Street, and right on Harvard Avenue to College Park Station. Northbound trips through Hapeville are proposed to bear left on Virginia Avenue to cross the railroad and then turn right on North Central Avenue and left on Dogwood Drive to continue onto Metropolitan Parkway. Current Route 95 passengers along King Arnold Street are proposed to be served by new Route 872. 1 Route 172: Sylvan Road / Virginia Avenue: (Replaced by New Community Circulator Route 872) It is proposed that Route 172 be replaced by new Community Circulator Route 872. From Oakland City Station, Route 872 is proposed to turn right (east) on Campbellton Road and continue on Dill Avenue to Sylvan Road. Select trips are proposed to turn left on Murphy Avenue and right on Avon Avenue to Sylvan Road. From here, buses will turn right on Sylvan Road, left on North Central Avenue, left on Dogwood Drive, right on King Arnold Street, right on Sunset Avenue, right on North Central Avenue and right on La Vista Drive back to King Arnold Street. Current Route 172 passengers along Langston Avenue and Murphy Avenue are proposed to be served by modifications to Route 79. Current Route 172 passengers south of the Hapeville railroad crossing are proposed to be served by modifications to Route 95. These proposed adjustments are based on recommendations from the Comprehensive Operations Analysis with improved frequency from the City of Atlanta More MARTA initiative. Route 178: Empire Boulevard / Southside Industrial Park: It is proposed that Route 178 operate in both directions along Old Hapeville Road, Hapeville Road and Empire Boulevard. After traveling southbound along these segments, Route 178 is proposed to return northbound via Browns Mill Road and Hamilton Boulevard back to Empire Boulevard. Route 178 is proposed to operate at 30-minute frequency, Monday through Sunday. Current passengers along the eastern side of the loop (Browns Mill Road, Ruby Harper Boulevard, Southside Industrial Boulevard and Zip Industrial Boulevard) are proposed to be served by new Route 177 (see below). Stops along Macon Drive (between Old Hapeville Road and Cleveland Avenue) and Browns Mill Road (between Cleveland Avenue and Mt. Zion Road) are proposed for discontinuation due to underutilization. Instead, these areas will be accessible to transit services along Old Hapeville Road (Route 178) Cleveland Avenue (Route 78) and Mt. Zion Road (Route 177). These proposed adjustments are based on recommendations from the Comprehensive Operations Analysis with improved frequency from the City of Atlanta More MARTA initiative. New proposed Route 177-Glenrose Heights: Assumes portions of current Route 178 while also providing new direct service to Mt. Zion Road and shopping destinations along Cleveland Avenue. From Lakewood Station, Route 177 is proposed to operate via Langford Parkway and Interstate 85 to Cleveland Avenue. From here, the route is proposed to turn left (east) on Cleveland Avenue, right on Forrest Hills Drive, left on Mt. Zion Road, right on Browns Mill Road to the MARTA Maintenance Facility. These proposed adjustments are based on recommendations from the Comprehensive Operations Analysis with improved frequency from the City of Atlanta More MARTA initiative. From here, the route will return inbound by turning left on Zip Industrial Boulevard, left on Southside Industrial Parkway and left on Ruby Harper Boulevard to continue north on Browns Mill Road back to Mt. Zion Road. Route 177 is proposed to operate at 30-minute frequency, Monday through Sunday. 2 These proposed adjustments are based on recommendations from the Comprehensive Operations Analysis with improved frequency from the City of Atlanta More MARTA initiative. Route 192: Old Dixie / Tara Boulevard It is proposed that Route 192 be modified to provide more direct service to East Point Station. From Norman Berry Drive, Route 192 is proposed to operate via R.N. Martin Street, Irene Kidd Parkway, and Main Street to East Point Station. Service to Martel Homes is proposed to be served by modifications to Route 79. Route 850: Carroll Heights / Fairburn Heights It is proposed that Route 850 be modified to serve Atlanta Industrial Park. From Bolton Road, Route 850 is proposed to operate via Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway and Atlanta Industrial Parkway. Service to Collier Ridge will continue to be provided by Route 853. Route 853: Collier Heights It is proposed that Route 853 be modified to no longer serve Chappell Road south of Joseph E. Boone Boulevard. Instead, Hunter Hills is proposed to be served from Joseph E. Boone Boulevard by a branching loop via Holly Road, Ezra Church Drive, Chappell Road, Eason Road and Holly Road back to Joseph E. Boone Boulevard. In addition, Route 853 service through Collier Heights is proposed to be eliminated. Instead, Route 853 is proposed to continue on Hamilton E. Holmes Drive, Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway and Harwell Road to the current end-of line loop at Collier Ridge. 3 !! ! 85 W !
