Jan. 14 - Georgia Tech 80, UNC 73 Georgia Tech held off a valiant North Carolina comeback to record an 80-73 victory. Carolina took its first lead of the game, 57-56, on two Jamie Cherry free throws with 2.5 seconds left in the third quarter. The Tar Heels scored the first four points of the final quarter and led 61-56 after trailing the first 29 min- utes, 27 seconds. Destinee Walker’s jumper had UNC up 69-65 with 3:44 left, but an 11-2 run by the Yellow Jackets was too much for the visiting Tar Heels to overcome, who played more than half the game without injured starter Xylina McDaniel, and reserve Erika Johnson fouled out with over five minutes left in regulation. Jan. 21 - Wake Forest 75, UNC 63 Despite 24 points and 13 rebounds from Stephanie Watts, North Carolina lost 75-63 at Wake Forest. Watts registered her fourth double-double of her rookie season, Jamie Cherry added 18 for the Tar Heels.
