L’URNA DI DON BOSCO NEL SUB-CONTINENTE INDIANO Angelo Siro e Franco Nani I primi salesiani vennero inviati in India da don Michele Rua, su richiesta del Vescovo di Meliapor. Mathias venne eletto Vescovo di Shillong e l’anno seguente Arcivescovo di Madras. Mons. Stefano Ferrando, eletto vescovo di Krishna- gar, veniva trasferito in seguito a Shillong. Brat Michal ČAHOJ, SDB, misionár v Indii (1934 – 1994) Životopisná črta . ZRODIL SA PRE NEBO Nový mesiac prevracia stranu kalendára. Je prvý júl 1994. A k tomu prvý piatok. V nemocnici Nazaret v Shillongu v Indii zapisujú odchod misionára slovenského pôvodu do ve čnosti. Kto by ho tu nepoznal, ve ď v tejto krajine prežil so svojimi bratmi a sestrami 60 rokov bez nieko ľkých mesiacov. Posledný čas častejšie chodil do nemocnice kvôli zhoršenému zdraviu. Prvého júla sa jeho stav náhle zhoršil, prijal sviatos ť pomazania chorých v prítomnosti desiatich spolubratov, ktorí sa za neho modlili a o 22 40 hod. odovzdal svoju dušu svojmu Pánovi.. Telesné pozostatky brata Michala preniesli do Savio Juniorate a umiestnili ho do kaplnky. Otec provinciál Jozef Thelekatt bol hlavným celebrantom koncelebrovanej zádušnej sv. omše za ú časti všetkých obyvate ľov domu. Po jej skon čení položili jeho telo na stôl, ktorý nádherne vyzdobili saleziánske sestry a novicky z Bellefonte. Čoskoro sa vytvoril nepretržitý prúd návštevníkov, ktorí prišli vzda ť bratovi Michalovi poslednú úctu: sestry, bratia, kňazi, laici, všetci čo ho poznali. Svoju úctu vyjadrili traja diecézni biskupi, v diecézach kde slúžil.. Prvá nede ľa mesiaca je vždy spojená s pamiatkou zm ŕtvychvstania Pána. Dnes, 3.júla 1994 sa pri truhle zišlo mnoho národa, ťažko ich spo číta ť. Prišli na ňu najmä chlapci z Junioratu Savio. Zhromaždili sa okolo telesných pozostatkov, aby sme dali bratovi Michalovi posledné zbohom, ve ď považovali ho za neoby čajného človeka. Bol človekom pravdy, lásky, činorodých skutkov, človekom, pri ktorom netreba menova ť jeho skutky. Zišli sa tu ľudia zo širokého územia Assamu, Sonadu, Dibrugarghu, Tezpure, Ture a Shillongu, ale aj mnohých osád a misijných staníc. -

This is borne out by the numerous groups of spiritual sons and daughters of Don Bosco who have already been declared Venerable or saints, or set out on the path of beatification and canonization.... SONS OF DON BOSCO SUCCESSORS OF THE APOSTLES SALESIAN BISHOPS 1884 to 2001 by Charles N. Bransom, Jr. INTRODUCTION he study of apostolic succession and episcopal lineages has long fascinated students of church history. It was not until the middle T of the twentieth century, however, that a systematic attempt was made to trace and catalogue the consecrations of bishops on a world-wide basis. A small group of researchers has catalogued the consecrations of tens of thou sands of bishops dating back many centuries. The fruits of their labors--labors that are on going-have resulted in a database, which can trace the episcopal lineage of any living bishop and the vast majority of deceased bishops. In 1984, I began a project on the episcopal ordinations of bishops of re ligious orders and congregations. One fruit of that work was a study of the ordi nations of Salesian bishops, Les Eveques Salesiens. The present work updates, corrects and expands the 1984 study. In 1984, the episcopal ordinations of 130 bishops were presented. This study contains the details of 196 bishops. The text has been expanded to include the episcopal lineages of the bishops. Of the 196 bishops in this study, 183 trace their orders to Scipione Re biba, who was appointed Auxiliary Bishop ofChieti in 1541. The Rebiban suc cession is the major episcopal line in the contemporary Catholic episcopate. More than 91 % of the more than 4,500 bishops alive today trace their orders 54 Journal of Salesian Studies back to Rebiba Why so many bishops should trace their lineages to this one bishop can be explained, in great part, by the intense sacramental activity of Pope Benedict XIII, who consecrated 139 bishops during his pontificate, many of them cardinals, nuncios and bishops of important sees who in tum conse crated many other bishops. -

Mazzarello, definita “l’esem plare Figlia di Maria”; la seconda parte riguarda in particolare lo sviluppo dell’esperienza mariana nell’Istituto che don Bosco ha voluto chiamare: “Istituto Figlie di Maria Ausiliatrice”. In ognuna delle due parti, sulla base delle fonti storiche, offrirò alcune riflessioni, consapevole della par zialità del mio contributo che attende ulteriori e più approfondite inda gini. 1. Premessa La prospettiva pedagogico-carismatica propria di questo intervento suggerisce che si condividano alcune premesse che possono offrire un cor retto approccio alla tematica in questione. 1. Per questa riflessione non disponiamo di studi scientifici. Dalle fonti si evince che è necessario ricorrere all'esperienza come via metodologica. E indiscutibile che i santi, in tutte le epoche storiche, hanno offerto un note vole contributo all’approfondimento della dottrina mariana e allo sviluppo della venerazione verso la Madre del Signore. E questo l’hanno realizzato soprattutto attraverso la loro esperienza mariana. Then he turned to the one who seemed to be the more important of the two and said, "Would you please take care of the older boys? They are in the chapel, back of the main altar." THE ASSOCIATION OF PAST PUPILS OF DON BOSCO - INDIA STATUTES OF THE NATIONAL FEDERATION, PROVINCIAL FEDERATION, LOCAL UNITS (Amended in October 2017) Amended on Oct.27, 2017 National Council Meeting, Guwahati Presentation Rome, 5 December 2015 Dear Past Pupils: I am writing on the feast day of Blessed Philip Rinaldi. A man open for newness and was adept to recognise the needs of people and society. He gave particular attention to encourage the involvement of the laity. Don Rinaldi uncovered the value of associations and gave significance to the role of the laity as diverse from clerical life. He promoted the Association from an embryonic, sentimental and loose group to a living active organisation with concrete proposals and clear objectives. The founding of the Association as such was the work of Don Filippo Rinaldi, who gave it a juridical structure in 1911. Now, in the context of the bygone centenary of this foundation, I myself have the pleasure to introduce the new Statute of the World Confederation of the Past Pupils of Don Bosco. I believe this is a providential coincidence and a very significant one too because it allows us to look back at the past and know what the original purpose was, and then address the present and the future to discern what God expects from an organization such as this. What matters is our creative, dynamic fidelity to Don Bosco’s original inspiration and to the current situation of the world and the Church. This Statute is the result of a long process of work throughout the World Confederation which ended in “5th World Statutory Elective Assembly” held in Rome between the 3rd and the 6th October 2015.
