Ma. Elena Ginobili* – Hna. • VALDOCCO – the LAND of SANCTITY the Path to Holiness in the Company of the Saints
VALDOCCO – THE LAND OF SANCTITY The Path to Holiness in the company of the Saints Going through some places of our origins, we want to welcome the call to holiness of Pope Francis which resounds loudly for us today through his witness of life and the Word. 1 The Family of Don Bosco, developing a characteristic spirituality of charismatic origin, enriches the whole Body of the Church with a very particular model of Christian life. This is borne out by the numerous groups of spiritual sons and daughters of Don Bosco who have already been declared Venerable or saints, or set out on the path of beatification and canonization.... (From the Charismatic Identity Card of the Salesian Family, 6). The spirituality inherited from Don Bosco is eminently ecclesial: it manifests and nourishes the communion of the Church by building, within the Christian communities, a network of fraternal relationships and effective collaborations; it is an educational spirituality that aims to help the young and the poor to feel at ease in the Church, to be builders of the Church and participants in her mission; it is a spirituality that enriches the whole Church with the gift of the holiness of so many of her sons and daughters. (From the Charismatic Identity Card of the Salesian Family, 26). 2 BATTISTERO DELLA BASILICA DI MARIA 1 AUSILIATRICE LIVE THE GRACE OF BAPTISM At the Baptismal Font, we are born to the life of grace: immersed in the death on the cross of Jesus, we have been subtracted from the power of original sin and we have risen to the new life that Jesus inaugurated.

Early Salesian Regulations: Formation in the Preventive System John M. Rasor, SDB n the fourth volume of the Biographical Memoirs of St. John Bosco, we I read: On another Sunday afternoon Don Bosco was visited by two distinguished priests from out-of-town. "My companion and I would like to visit your Ora tory and observe your method of teaching," one of them said. "Your arrival at this very moment is providential. Would you be so good as to help me with the catechism classes? Afterward, we'll be able to talk at our own leisure." Then he turned to the one who seemed to be the more important of the two and said, "Would you please take care of the older boys? They are in the chapel, back of the main altar." "Gladly!" replied the priest. "And you," Don Bosco said addressing the other, "would you mind teach ing another group in the sanctuary? The boys in that group are the most rest less." Don Bosco somehow sensed that his two visitors were not just ordinary priests, and he also noticed that they were expert catechists. As soon as the services were over, Don Bosco eagerly looked for them to make their acquain tance. "This is Father Rosmini, founder of the Institute of Charity," one of them said, gesturing to the other. 'Tm not surprised now that you taught catechism so well," Don Bosco added. Then turning to the other priest, he said, "And might I ask your name, Father?" ''I'm Father Giuseppe De Gaudenzi." "The canon archpriest of Vercelli?" "Yes."1 1 Giovanni Battista Lemoyne, Eugenio Ceria, Angelo Amadei, Biographical Memoirs of St.

  • India Statutes of the National Federation, Provincial
THE ASSOCIATION OF PAST PUPILS OF DON BOSCO - INDIA STATUTES OF THE NATIONAL FEDERATION, PROVINCIAL FEDERATION, LOCAL UNITS (Amended in October 2017) Amended on Oct.27, 2017 National Council Meeting, Guwahati Presentation Rome, 5 December 2015 Dear Past Pupils: I am writing on the feast day of Blessed Philip Rinaldi. A man open for newness and was adept to recognise the needs of people and society. He gave particular attention to encourage the involvement of the laity. Don Rinaldi uncovered the value of associations and gave significance to the role of the laity as diverse from clerical life. He promoted the Association from an embryonic, sentimental and loose group to a living active organisation with concrete proposals and clear objectives. The founding of the Association as such was the work of Don Filippo Rinaldi, who gave it a juridical structure in 1911. Now, in the context of the bygone centenary of this foundation, I myself have the pleasure to introduce the new Statute of the World Confederation of the Past Pupils of Don Bosco. I believe this is a providential coincidence and a very significant one too because it allows us to look back at the past and know what the original purpose was, and then address the present and the future to discern what God expects from an organization such as this. What matters is our creative, dynamic fidelity to Don Bosco’s original inspiration and to the current situation of the world and the Church. This Statute is the result of a long process of work throughout the World Confederation which ended in “5th World Statutory Elective Assembly” held in Rome between the 3rd and the 6th October 2015.

Naturally, the very nature of the competences has evolved in parallel with the progressive modification in economies, societies and, ultimately, in the air transport systems. Prospective employees – that is: the students – have thus to be flexible enough to permanently be able to develop new competences upon the existing ones.

There are almost too many books about Don Bosco, but hardly any which tell us what he managed to achieve. Historians, bemused by the personal charm of the founder of the Salesians, have forgotten to mention his work. There are, of course, the thoroughly documented and quite recent Annals of the Salesian Congregation industriously compiled by Father Eugene Ceria.
