Central United Vs. North Shore United WE CENTRAL UNITED VS. NORTH SHORE UNITED SUNDAY 16th JULY 2017 – KICK OFF 2PM CHATHAM CUP LAST 16 KIWITEA STADIUM, SANDRINGHAM OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER OPPOSITION: CENTRAL UNITED TOM SPEERS – HEAD COACH I'm definitely looking forward to this weekend! One thing surprised me being involved in football in NZ, was that there is only 1 cup competition! But as there is only one, everyone, including myself, get really up for it and that will be no different this Sunday. Against a strong team in Central, we know the big challenge that awaits us, they are essentially a national league side with some fantastic players, but on the day it is 11v11 and on our day anything can happen. So firstly I hope that we are competitive and give them a good game but the winner in me, knows we are going there for only one thing, to try our hardest to make sure North Shore is in the next round. NORTH SHORE UNITED Sunday 16th July 2pm Kiwitea Street Our 2017 Chatham cup campaign began with the ultimate goal to claim a record 7th Chatham cup. We started with a comfortable win against Metro at home, that saw us on the road to Hamilton to take on Claudelands on a rainy day which saw us run out winners 5-1. Our third round tie saw us travelling once again down to face Matamata on another rainy day, we came out winners once again in a scrappy game 2-0. In the next much anticipated round we have drawn one of the power houses of Auckland football; Central United away. This is the furthest we have gone in 9 years, and funny enough it was against Central in the 2007 Quarter final which we unfortunately lost. This time round we will hope to defy the odds and move into another quarter final in NZ’s most prestigious football cup. We hope we can get massive support for this game as the boys have worked extremely hard to get this far. COYS!! Ben Wall, Assistant Coach Winners 1986 Top Left to right then bottom left to right - (Darryl MCKellon, Kevin Hagan, Keith Hobbs, Brian McKeown, Justin Worsley, Chris Hardy, Brian Mitchell, Lee Green, Matthew Jackson, Alan Parkin, Duncan Cole, Alan Gilchrist, Kim Wright) celebrating lifting the Chatham Cup, 1986. We spoke to Alan Parkin on the great achievement of winning the Chatham Cup in 1986. ‘The year before we got beaten in the Chatham Cup Final (1985) against the relegated side of Napier which was very disappointing. They beat us 2-1 at Mt. Smart so to get back into the final the year after was very exciting to right the wrongs from the year before.’ NSU win 5-2 on Aggregate ‘We lost the 1st leg against Mt. Maunganui at the Fuji Stadium (now known as Allen Hill Stadium) which was televised. They were trialing the potential of a 2 legged final which was lucky for us as we lost 1-0 and Kevin Hagan (pictured) missed a penalty!’ Don Jones was the coach at the time and regardless of the fact we didn’t train on either scheduled days (Tues/ Thurs) we managed a 20 minute session before we headed down to Mt. Maungaui for the 2nd leg. We had a few good experienced lads combined with youth players and Don had the Alan Parkin happy about the cup knack of getting the team success to play well. Due to the lack of technology, the 2nd leg wasn’t to be televised but along with our experience and youth we beat them 4-1 to bring the cup back to the Shore.’ ‘Lifting the trophy was great for me me because we were beaten the year before by Napier and we had a really good side that year.’ Kevin Hagan Kevin Hagan, happy despite missing a penalty In the 1st leg. We Are North Shore SATURDAY 13th MAY 2017 – KICK OFF 2PM CHATHAM CUP – RD1 OFFICIAL MATCH DAY PROGRAMME OPPOSITION: METRO FC HEAD COACH– Tom Speers Good afternoon and welcome back to the the Hill for the 1st round of the Chatham Cup. I would like to welcome Mike and his Metro team here today, I expect it to be a lot tighter game than when they visited in the first game of season and I'm sure they will be looking to do a lot better than the 7-0 they experienced here that day. I love being part of the Cup and as there is only one cup competition in NZ I'm looking forward to hopefully going far. This club has a rich history in this cup, winning it 6 times, the last being in 1986, so fingers crossed we can progress into the later rounds of the competition and be there or there about towards the end. You can see the success we have had in this competition all over the clubhouse walls and talking with former players who have won it, we know how important it is to the club that we represent the club properly, so unlike the rumours I have been hearing, we will be playing a full strength squad and hoping every club in this competition do the same, resting players when you only have 1 game a week would be disrespectful to the longest cup competition on the planet and also be quite embarrassing for the clubs that do so. I hope you have a good day and hopefully see us progress, get behind the boys and make some noise.

  • MATCH DAY PROGRAM 19 August 2017
MATCH DAY PROGRAM 19th August 2017 Photo courtesy of AT Photo UPPER HUTT CITY VS WELLINGTON UNITED MAIDSTONE PARK - KO 1:00 PM A message from Gibby . We’ve managed 3 games in 11 days which has been a tough ask for this end of the season, but what an 11 days! First up we had PNM in the Knockout Cup Quarter Final. Leading up to this game we’d won a game apiece, and drawn 1-1 so it was always going to be a tight game. These games are always tough physical battles and this was no exception. Both teams were throwing everything they had into it, which was reflected in the half time score of 0-0. The second 45 was just as tough as the first, and we managed to get on the score sheet when PNM gave the ball away in their defensive third and Lena de Ronde capitalised by driving a cross into the 6 yard box and Emma Main nipped in front of her defender to tuck the ball away. 1-0. PNM are the sort of team that never gives up, and they struck back after a ball over the top was picked up by their striker and they slotted the ball into the far post tying the game up 1-1. Cup matches need a result, and so into extra time we went. Both teams were showing the effects of a long hard tussle, but through sheer grit and determination we pushed forward, and sent a cross into the box for Lena de Ronde to pop up at the far post driving the ball into the net to take us 2-1 up.

Monday, 5 June 2017 Chatham Cup Programme – NWAFC vs NPRAFC Page 1 of 7 Welcome, It is my pleasure to welcome everyone to Alex Moore Park for this important ISPS Handa Chatham Cup match as we host New Plymouth Rangers. As the largest senior club in the Wellington region we are pleased and proud to offer footballing opportunities for players of all ages and stages on the football spectrum. The Northern Hills Pathway has been an important initiative for football development in our area. We are working together with the Onslow and North Wellington junior football clubs, Newlands and Onslow Colleges, to create a player pathway for footballers of any ability. This is one of the most significant pieces of work ever embarked upon. Although in its early stages, all 5 organisations agreeing to work together and collaborate with the aim of promoting the best interests of footballers is a worthy objective which will have positive ramifications for years to come. Our partnership with the Ngatiawa Russell Masonic Lodge and their sponsorship of our Men’s Premier team has been a very positive experience. This alliance has increased the profile of our club while also promoting the opportunity to become involved in Freemasonry. The recent announcement by Just Paterson Real Estate of their sponsorship of our Men’s Reserve and Third teams has been equally well received.

The equivalent of England's FA Cup, the trophy was gifted to the New Zealand Football Association by the crew of HMS Chatham, as a means of thanking the New Zealand public for the great goodwill shown the sailors during their time in this part of the world. It has become the most sought after honour in New Zealand soccer, with a record number of teams - 172 - entering the competition in 1991, the NZFA's centenary season. University-Mt. Wellington have won the trophy seven times, one more than both Christchurch United and North Shore United, who have reached the final on twelve occasions. Eastern Suburbs and Central United boast the next best records, with five triumphs apiece.

We have extended articles in this issue to celebrate the achievement. Fantastic result and next year? Well who knows. And our Men’s Capital Premier team have quietly moved up the table after the losing their first two games! Scoring goals wins games but with nine clean sheets already this year, Vinny and his back four are doing a fine job of halting opposing teams, but make no mistake our visitors today can score goals! Wellington United are still in the hunt for the title. As one of the pre-season league favourites “Diamonds” are sitting just in behind us in the table, and have a game in hand.

WAIMAK UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB SENIOR MATCH DAY PROGRAM Saturday 12th May 2018 www.waimakunited.org.nz Comments from the club This week our two premier teams are playing in knockout cup matches this weekend. Our Men’s CCL team are playing in round one of the ISPS Handa Chatham Cup against Coastal Spirit, beating Burnham Football Club 8 to 1 in the preliminary round. Our Women’s WPL team are up against Cashmere Technical in round one of the New Zealand Football Foundation Kate Sheppard Cup. Formally known as the Women’s Knockout Cup, the Kate Sheppard Cup was renamed on International Women’s Day. It is a club-based knockout competition, first played in 1994 as a pathway for players linking important strategic goals of New Zealand Football; ‘More Kiwis loving and playing football and our elite teams winning on the world stage’ (New Zealand Football). The announcement of the Kate Sheppard Cup was made on New Zealand’s 125th anniversary of New Zealand becoming the first self-governing country in which all women had the right to vote in parliamentary elections in 1893. Kate Sheppard was a pioneer for women and it is very fitting for the trophy to be named after her. The tagline for the competition is ‘Make a name for yourself’ recognising Sheppard’s achievements. The Kate Sheppard Cup will see regional teams kicking off against each other before it goes into national games at quarter finals. The final is played as a double header with the ISPS Handa Chatham Cup final as part of the traditional end of the New Zealand football season in September.

WE AREARE NORTHNORTH SHORESHORE UNITEDUNITED SATURDAY 2nd SEPTEMBER 2017 – KICK OFF 3PM NRFL – RD 22 Fixture OFFICIAL MATCH DAY PROGRAMME OPPOSITION: MANUKAU CITY Tom Speers - Head Coach Welcome back to the Hill which sees us host our final game of the 2017 season. Firstly our huge congratulations to our visitors, Kevin and his Manukau team, who have achieved back to back promotions. This is a great achievement considering how difficult the league was this year, we wish them luck for next year. As it is our final game I’d like to thank a couple of people who have not only supported me but have helped the club massively this year, Tom Bray, Bill Lissington and Ben Wall, without your help this year would have not gone as smoothly as it has, so thank you. Reflecting on the year, even though we didn't achieve our main target, we can still be pleased with our efforts, considering only 3 members of our team survived from the 2016 season, building a new squad and still accumulating enough points to have gone is still something to be proud of. This years league was extremely competitive, and with the young squad we have I’m sure we will only push on next year. I would like to thank all the sponsors for their continued support as without you the club would not be able to run. And lastly I’d like to thank you, the fans, for your support, it has been great to have your backing week in week out and I know the boys and myself have really appreciated it.
