FOMO is an acronym which means Fear of Missing Out. FOMO appears to be a common experience, and has recently become part of the vernacular, starting to gain more mentions in popular media. After first hearing of the term I immediately thought back to youthful parties, and later nightclubbing, where even though I was ‘dead tired’ I wouldn’t go home MIKE BARTON as I thought something ‘might happen’ and I would miss out.

Somewhere in that, now, long ago time I thought Work started early with Ms 5 demonstrating she is about trying to finish up early and ignoring the a dab hand at sanding plaster. what if. It turned out, in my experience, to be just as rewarding as staying out all night. Once we had our plaster ready we finished preparing the wall and got up the first coat of However over the last week I have missed out, paint. After a lunch and, a decent break, we got twice, and it may well be that I am starting to on with our second coat of paint. Much easier develop FOMO. First up there was a football as the light had changed and it was much easier match being played between a team from the to see where paint was going. As we ate, for us, Merseyside region, in the North West of England, a late dinner I thought about going off to Island versus a side that is somewhat representative of Bay to watch the Mens Central League team play the inner city of the Italian capital Rome. Even Wellington Olympic. After an internal debate, though my personal preference is another team, where I dismissed FOMO, staying put seemed the on Merseyside, I thought this seemed a match good option. Finally, I looked up the password worth watching and I should not miss out. On top for an old social media account and logged in to of which, those who would be watching with me see the words ‘56 minutes - Stop Out now lead always make for good craic. Besides which I had Olympic 5-2’. There may be a point to FOMO a feeling it might be a good match. However, I after all. woke up later than planned, a few minutes after kick-off, and putting aside my FOMO decided to stay put. That match was a cracker and clearly FOMO was probably the better option. Made worse by a series of phone calls from excited supporters of that particular Merseyside club.

Having had that happen it was unlikely that so soon after there would be another football opportunity in which I could ignore FOMO and miss a football moment. Unlikely, of course, doesn’t mean that something won’t happen. It means, according to a dictionary, ‘not likely to happen, be done, or be true; improbable’. Last Saturday I set about to do some plastering and painting of a room at my home. A window replacement had caused some damage to a wall and the colour of the room itself was dated.
