Temeljna dokumentacijska kartica Sveu čilište u Zagrebu Filozofski fakultet Odsjek za povijest umjetnosti Diplomski studij Diplomski rad VIZUALNI IDENTITET SUVREMENE HRVATSKE GLAZBENE ROCK I POP PRODUKCIJE (1990.-2010.) -

Architecture of the 2Oth Century
Architecture of the 2oth Century The present book is a somewhat different overview of 2oth cen tury architecture in Slovenia. The selection of presented buildings is austere since it was dictated by the purpose of the book and its scope. The selected works are not only the outstanding buildings that came into existence in Slovenia in the last century. The authors of the book, architects and art historians, have selected typical creations of the past, characteristic evidence of progress in land development, theo retical thinking and architecture in our surroundings. The purpose of this selection is to encourage public debate and conservation evalua tion, and to facilitate better and more professional protection of all the outstanding historical buildings of the 2oth century, not only cul tural monuments and the creations of famous authors, the mainstays of the development of fine arts. The artistic value was one of the prin ciples of selection, since individual buildings and entities are to be considered as to their function, social value and historical relevance. We attempted to include as many architects as possible and all re gions of Slovenia. The chronological context of the book is defined as the period af ter the First World War, since the architecture created before 1920 has already been presented in another publication within The Euro pean Heritage Days Series. The final chronologicallimit of the selec tion was dose to the year 2000, although it is usually preferred to conclude the period somewhat earlier and evaluate the artefacts from a more distant point in time. The chronological definition of the be: ginning was further conditioned by a new creative enthusiasm after the First World War and the establishment of the first university in Slovenia in Ljubljana with a department of architecture. -

Pritzker Prize to Doshi, Designer for Humanity in Search of a Win-Win
03.19.18 GIVING VOICE TO THOSE WHO CREATE WORKPLACE DESIGN & FURNISHINGS Pritzker Prize to Doshi, Designer for Humanity The 2018 Pritzker Prize, universally considered the highest honor for an architect, will be conferred this year on the 90-year- old Balkrishna Doshi, the first Indian so honored. The citation from the Pritzker jury recognizes his particular strengths by stating that he “has always created architecture that is serious, never flashy or a follower of trends.” The never-flashy-or-trendy message is another indication from these arbiters of design that our infatuation with exotic three-dimensional configurations initiated by Frank Gehry and Zaha Hadid – and emulated by numerous others – may have run its course. FULL STORY ON PAGE 3… In Search of a Win-Win: The Value Engineering Process When most design professionals hear the term value engineering, a dreaded sinking feeling deep in the pit of their stomach ensues. Both the design firm and the contractor are at a disadvantage in preserving the look and design intent of the project, keeping construction costs to a minimum, and delivering the entire package on time. officeinsight contributorPeter Carey searches for solutions that make it all possible. FULL STORY ON PAGE 14… Concurrents – Environmental Psychology: Swedish Death Cleaning First, Chunking Second Swedish death cleaning has replaced hygge as the hottest Scandinavian life management tool in the U.S. Margareta CITED: Magnussen’s system for de-cluttering, detailed in her book, The “OUR FATE ONLY SEEMS Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning: How to Make Your Loved HORRIBLE WHEN WE PLACE Ines’ Lives Easier and Your Own Life More Pleasant, is a little IT IN CONTRAST WITH more straightforward than Marie Kondo’s more sentimental tact, SOMETHING THAT WOULD SEEM PREFERABLE.” described in The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. -

ABOUT HDU Croatian Phonographic Association (HDU) is a voluntary, non-partisan, non-profit, non-governmental organization which, in accordance with the law, promotes the interests of record labels - phonogram producers, as well as the interests of the Croatian record industry in general. Croatian Phonographic Association was established on 14 June 1995 and was originally founded as an association of individuals dealing with discography and related activities, since at that time this was the only form of association possible under the Law on Associations. Work and affirmation of HDU has manifested mainly in active participation in the implementation of Porin Awards, as well as in various other actions. The HDU is also active with its department for combating piracy that de-lists links from Google, removes pirated content from Web sites and participates in regional initiatives to close the portals that illegally distribute pirated content. Thanks to the successful work, HDU has become an official member of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) at the beginning of 2007. 2 Foreword Foreword Želimir BabogredacBabogredac, President HDU Branko Komljenović, Vice President HDU The digital era is omnipresent.
