nce a month, a panel from Glass Alliance-New Mexico carefully selects Odistinguished glass art objects created by local artisans and offers them for sale to a limited audience. We accept bids for only five days. It’s fast, it’s fun, and it helps art and artists prosper. This is YOUR opportunity to own a handcrafted, one-of-a-kind piece of glass art at a very modest price, while investing in artists whose work you will value for decades. Your support will help sustain a vibrant and significant tradition of creativity that has made New Mexico a glass art center for decades.

Donna started glass bead making after arthritis affected her hands. From , Donna had learned to love color mixing and textures, both of which were easily incorporated into glass bead making. After her first lesson, in 1983, Donna was on her way. is the process by which glass beads are made. Glass is melted onto a stainless steel mandrel, which does not conduct heat to the maker’s hands. The glass, which comes in a multitude of colors, is shaped and manipulated to add designs and pulled with tweezers, molds, etc. Donna loves the slight hiss and warmth of the flame and the interplay of the different glass colors. When the bead is finished, which can take half an hour or more, it is placed into a kiln to anneal overnight.

“I tend to make statement pieces in my jewelry that are bold and colorful,” says artist Roddie Harris. For this piece, “A friend sent me these glass beads and I added some blue, faceted beads and strung them with rawhide. The necklace would go great with jeans or other casual looks.” Roddie Harris has had a lifelong fascination with and involvement in the worlds of art, , design and . She studied and received an associate degree in art. Roddie created design displays at luxury department stores and galleries in California, Michigan and Indiana. In her home studio in Santa Fe, Roddie creates hats, jewelry, purses and unique centerpieces. She has donated her jewelry to several Santa Fe area charities where they have regularly found an audience.

This collar by Jane Hruska has a hand-blown glass centerpiece, silver metal spacers, and a faceted Swarovski crystal toggle clasp. Jane Hruska began designing jewelry in NYC in 2008. Her jewelry was featured at Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week from 2011 to 2019 via designer Cesar Galindo (designs for Gwen Stefani, Joan Jett, Wendy Williams, etc.), as well as fashion shows in Belarus and Moscow via designer and Project Runway winner, Dmitry Sholokov, and runway shows in San Antonio and Houston. Jane Hruska Jewelry is a collection of mostly one-of-a-kind pieces that incorporate vintage beads from all eras (including warehouse beads from Chanel's manufacturer from the 1920s-1940s), as well as traditional but unique baubles and beads made of glass, Lucite, metal, and faux pearls.
