The Holy See MESSAGE OF HIS HOLINESS BENEDICT XVI TO PARTICIPANTS IN THE 14th GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF ITALIAN CATHOLIC ACTION Dear friends of Italian Catholic Action! You are meeting at your General Assembly with the theme: Live the faith, love life: Catholic Action’s educative commitment, in order to emphasize your love for Christ and the Church and renew the journey of your Association, with the commitment to assume fully your responsibilities as laymen and women in the service of the Gospel. You are children, young people and adults who make yourselves available to the Lord in the Church by a public, solemn commitment to give good witness in every area of life, in communion with your Pastors. Yours is a grass-roots presence in parishes, families, neighbourhoods, and social environments: a presence that you live in your everyday life and in your desire for holiness. Your children, adolescents and young people all want to be lively and happy, generous and courageous, like Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati. You enthusiastically build the city of all with dedication and courageously serve in the institutions, just as Vittorio Bachelet, Bl. Alberto Marvelli did, and Giuseppe Toniolo, who will soon be declared Blessed. In your project of human and Christian formation you desire to be faithful friends of Christ, like Bl. Pierina Morosini and Bl. Antonia Mesina, like Venerable Armida Barelli. You want to make our communities come alive with children who are charming because of the purity of their heart, like Antonietta Meo, and who are capable of drawing also parents to Jesus.

Edited by Armata Bianca THE APOSTLES OF THE LAST TIMES IN MONTFORT AND TODAY Taken from the thesis by: Father Andrea D'Ascanio ofm cap At the Marianum Pontificial Faculty of Theology in Rome Edited by: ARMATA BIANCA Via Sant'Apollonia, 8 Cas. Post. 135 67100 L'Aquila (Italy) www.armatabianca.org [email protected] Translation of the Ecclesiastical Permission on the opposite page: Diocese of Ibarra According to can. 827 par. 3, the Reverend Father Andrea D'Ascanio ofm cap has submitted to my examination the book he has written “The apostles of the last times in Montfort and today”. After carefully examining the content of this work, which was supervised by Prof. Stefano De Fiores, I do not find in it anything contrary to the faith and morals of the Catholic Church. Moreover, I believe this work can help to effectively spread the devotion to the Most Blessed Virgin according to the writings of St. Louis Mary Grignion de Montfort and give a positive contribution on controversial topics of Mariology and eschatol- ogy concerning which there is often confusion among the faithful. Regarding the above, I grant permission to publish this book. Ibarra, 9 December 2004 Julio Teràn Dutari Bishop of Ibarra English translation of the third italian edition 2006 7th oct, feast of Our Lady of the Rosary “And Mathathias cried out in the city with a loud voice, saying: Every one that has zeal for the law, and maintains the testament, let him follow me”. (From the First Book of Maccabees 2,27). “Let all those worthy priests who are to be found throughout the world, those still in the fight and those who have withdrawn to deserts and secluded places, let them, I say, come and join us.

  • By Duccio Di Buoninsegna, C. 1311 AD from Maesta Altarpiece of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Mary of T
Novena for Vocations “Pentecost” by Duccio di Buoninsegna, c. 1311 A.D. From Maesta altarpiece of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption, Siena, Tuscany. What is a Novena? A novena is a classic form of Catholic devotion, where on nine successive days, a prayer is said for some special occasion or intention. The practice of praying novenas is scripturally based, modeled after the nine days of consecutive prayer that our Blessed Mother, the Apostles, and other disciples of Christ prayed together in the Upper Room between Our Lord’s Ascension into heaven and the descent of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost. Prayed in communion with the Saints, novenas often petition the intercession of specially selected Saints (our exemplary role models in the spiritual life). Let us pray together, with the Angels and Saints, for an increase in vocations to the Priesthood and Religious life in the Archdiocese of Washington. Let us also pray for the sanctity of all vocations: for holy marriages in the Church, for Deacons, and those that dedicate their lives to Christ in the chaste single life. May the Lord of the harvest send many to work in His vineyard! (The Novena begins on the next page.) Day 1: Monday The Blessed Virgin Mary With special focus on the virtues of purity and chastity Our Lady, Queen of the Clergy, we ask your intercession today for an increase in vocations to the Priesthood and Religious life. Blessed Mary, you are the Immaculate Conception, the Ark of the New Covenant, and the fairest of our race.
