All routes experienced major growth during July, with this month’s statistics surpassing all previous ridership and revenue records. The Capitol Corridor and San Joaquin routes both showed startling ridership growth rates of 32+% (vs. July 2007). With 161,731 passengers in July, Capitol Corridor solidly maintains its position as the third busiest route in the country.

Following the completion of the June track work project, a bit of rebound was expected in terms of ridership and on-time performance. However, not since service increassed from six each way to nine trains each way in 2000/01 has Capitol Corridor experienced this large of a percentage growth.

On-time performance for July was 86.7%, a complete recovery following the June track work project. The 2008 year-to-date on-time performance is 84.8%, an enviable record. Even the premier Express service on the (at 83.5%) and service (at 75.7%) do not match the year-to-date on-time performance delivered to Capitol Corridor passengers.

Additionally, riders have rated Capitol Corridor as ’s #1 route for customer satisfaction for the 6th consecutive month; meanwhile, service returned to the best on-time performance of all two intercity corridors offering multiple frequency services.
