A1007 PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING MAY AS FAIR HOUSING MONTH WHEREAS Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended, prohibits discrimination in housing and declares it a national policy to provide, within constitutional limits, for fair housing in the United States; and WHEREAS The principle of Fair Housing is not only national law and national policy, but a fundamental human concept and entitlement for all Americans; and WHEREAS The National Fair Housing Law, during the month of May, provides an opportunity for all Americans to recognize that complete success in the goal of equal housing opportunity can only be accomplished with the help and cooperation of all Americans. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARANSAS PASS, TEXAS: SECTION 1: That the right-of-way of West Wilson Avenue, between South Avenue A and South 13th Street is hereby closed to vehicular traffic. Such action is in conjunction with the Aransas Pass Shared Use Path Project as approved by Resolution #2016-786 passed by the City Council on August 15, 2016. Such project being between the City of Aransas Pass and the State of Texas acting through the Texas Department of Transportation.
