“AMATECHNICA“ in Gaste on 10th May, 2012

On the 10th May, Amatechnica, the big field day with a presentation of the complete programme, was held at the headquarters of Amazonen- Werke. There was a huge interest in this event where over 5,000 farmers and contractors came from all over Germany and its neighbouring countries. The visitors were presented with a varied programme across an area of approximately 10 hectares. The machine presentations and practical field demonstrations were the focus of interest. As a further focus, seminars on the topic “More field intelligence“ were offered in our Active Centre. 3 Once upon a time: “Gloria“ butter making machines from Heinrich Dreyer

Already soon after the foundation of his company for the serial produc- tion of agricultural machinery, Heinrich Dreyer developed plans how to extend his production programme. He did not want to make himself solely dependent on his Amazone winnower. One of his ideas was a butter making machine where he developed interesting concepts to ease the work of making butter. He also had carefully made his own copper engravings to have fine pictures for advertising. As basis for the engravings, he took photo- graphs and in this case his wife Lisette served as model. Around some hundred of these butter machines of different types were sold, however, at no time were they of great importance. When then in 1910, the “Federkraft” potato sorter production started successfully, the making of butter making machines was gradually stopped. Always on the road for Amazone: Dipl.-Ing. agr. Michael Hager

One of our longest-serving representatives is Mr. Michael Hager from Dielmissen in the northern district of Holzminden in Lower Saxony.

Due to his professional career Mr. Hagen, is especially qualified for representing Amazonen-Werke. After he had served in the German Armed Forces he studied agricultural productivity at the Gesamthoch- schule in Kassel and successfully finished his studies in 1987. Then also, he undertook commercial training at a cooperative. In addition he has an outstanding knowledge of practical farming. In 1990, in other words almost 25 years ago, Mr. Hager joined Amazonen-Werke and very soon he gained the confidence of his customers in the trade and on farms. At his dealers he is a welcome partner and advisor. He keeps fit with football and Triathlon.

We wish Mr. Hager still a long, successful career and thank him for his excellent work.

New machines for production and training: Rationalisation is increasingly vital!

At all our production sites new machines are constantly purchased to improve the quality of production and so to optimise the process as well as easing the work of our employees. So, in our training work- shop at the headquarters in Gaste, a new lathe was installed, which not only produces highly precise parts for our tool construction and for production, but which also serves for training the apprentices.

In addition in Hude, a big plastic injection moulding device was purchased so that bigger parts of high grade plastic can also be produced in-house. With the high vertical range of manufacture, Amazonen-Werke is more flexible than many other companies.

5 Amazone represented all over the world: Messrs Tech-Kom in Zabikowo, approx. 30 km south of Poznan in Poland

One of our most successful partners abroad is Messrs Tech-Kom. Owner of the company is Mr. Przemyslaw Laskowski, who is busy selling Amazone since 2000 and who also personally cares very much for the support of our machines. He runs a farm himself where he successfully operates our Amazone technology. This year Messrs Tech-Kom will achieve a record turnover with four Pantera sold. Also the sale of our municipal machinery is very successful in Posznan. In total Tech-Kom employs 42 people, 10 of them work only for Amazone.

Meanwhile, the company also runs a branch office in Tupadly in the Region of Bydgoszcz and plans an additional one in the east of Poland. We thank Mr. Laskowski for his untiring, successful work. We wish him and his employees much fortune and success also in the future.

Rattling the cage is part of the trade: Amazone advertising in agricultural magazines

The objective of adverts is to commit oneself to memory again and again, whereby the size of the advert is not necessarily decisive. It is only important that the advert attracts attention and give a positive impression at the viewer. Due to the flood of information from the media, the advert must contain a short, but interesting statement so that the reader is motivated to ask for more information on a specific implement.

Amazone sprayers enjoy great popularity in the market and have a good reputation. The advert shows that the UX is of beautiful design, that the booms give a very stable ride and that they are available in large working widths. Our “in-house Amazon“, Andrea Trimpe, who herself works with Amazone sprayers on the family farm provides the necessary attraction.

Amazonen-Werke is convinced that their advertising achieves an above average success with the customers.

Amazone in practical operation: Agricultural contractor Gebr. Groß from Löningen

The highest standards on agricultural technology have always been de- manded by agricultural contractors and this is also the reason that many of them rely in their work on the output of Amazone machinery.

Messrs Gebrüder Groß in Löningen in the county of Cloppenburg is one of the largest and most versatile agricultural contractors of the region. Since 1991 the two successful brothers Hermann (right) and Reinhard carry out all prevailing work in agriculture and within the com- munity. 7 Amazone successful at inspections and tests: DLG field days 2012 - Amazone present

In the opposing year to Agritechnica in Hanover, every second year, the DLG field days are held outdoors at different locations in Germany. This time they were held from the 19th to 21st June near Bernburg with a big international participation.

In spite of the changeable weather, about 22,000 visitors caught up on the latest developments around modern crop protection. Our new exhibition trailer, which celebrated its première, proved to be a special magnet attracting the professional visitors from near and far with its large picture of our Pantera self propelled sprayer.

On our main stand, with its attached test area, Amazone demons- trated, amongst other subjects, the effect of the “strip-till system“ when planting maize. On the second information stand, professional visitors could find out more for themselves, both on the actual production pro- gramme from Amazone and also on our 3C farming concept.

Also in Bernburg, the machine demonstrations again were a special highlight. On the whole, Amazone left a good impression and could demonstrate that our machines provide a superb performance.

Shortly after the foundation of our sales company in Podolsk, Mr. Schil- kin joined our services and took over the management of the company.

Mr. Schilkin started his carrier in a small village near Samara, where our subsidiary Eurotechnika is also based. After his high-school gradua- tion, he studied economics and business information. In addition he also studied agriculture at the Humboldt University and there he also acquired his superb German linguistic knowledge. In 1997, he then started his professional life and became manager of the commercial enterprise Eko- Niva ZAO in Moscow. In 2001, Mr. Schilkin became general manager at the commercial enterprise Deutsche Agrar Gruppe OOO in Moscow, before he then finally took over the general management of our OOO. Quickly he became a member of the big Amazone family and develo- ped the representation, with its 30 employees, into a very successful subsidiary of the Amazone Group. For more than 7 years Mr. Schilkin is our man in Moscow and worthily represents Amazone. We wish him that he will go on enjoying his work and that he will stay with us still for a long time.

Amazone spezial: The Grasshopper of the Federal President

For approximately 30 years the so-called Grasshopper has been produced in our factory at Forbach/France. Thousands of them are operating in many different applications. Initially they were in large parks where they have mown the grass – even very long grass and collected the leaves in autumn. Then horse lovers discovered the benefits of the Grasshopper which even collects horse drop- pings when mowing paddocks with rank grass patches. Hobbies of our employees: Young artists at the Amazone family day

During this year’s Amatechnica at the headquarters in Gaste, a family day also took place which enjoyed a big interest at our employees. Many partners and children of our employees informed themselves of our actual production programme, attended the factory tour or took part in the many activities. One attraction was the children’s painting com- petition which was enthusiastically embraced by many children. Four age groups painted and then the works of art were judged by a jury. One family was in special focus: The Birukov family. All the pictures of the sons were awarded a prize. In the category 3 to 6 years, the twins Max and Markus got the 1 and 2 places and in the age group 10 to 12 years, big brother Mathias earned second place. Mr. Pavel Birukov, father of the little artists, works in the paint shop.

The AGRIPLANTA exhibition was held from the 7th to 10th June 2012, in Fundulea near Bucharest and is an event with an outstanding concept for Rumania – the combination of an out- door exhibition with field demonstrations for crop production and for machine demonstrations.

The machine demonstrations (UX on the test track, Cirrus 6 m, Catros+ TS) left a very good lasting impression so that, apart from promising discussions, also a direct sale could be achieved. Our exhibition stand was very well matched to the size of the exhibition and was praised by the customers several times over.

A new Amazone base in Bulgaria

On Saturday, 28th April the opening of the new subsidiary of our Amazone representative, Messrs. Rapid in Bulgaria, was celebrated. The new subsidiary is located in the City of Rüsse on the Danube. Also Mrs Malu and Mr. Klaus Dreyer participated in this pleasant event. For many years a personal friendship has connected the owner families. Of course present was our responsible export manager Mr. Jens Meißner who, due to his good knowledge of the Russian language, looks after the former eastern block countries for Amazone. Messrs Rapid also represents our friends from Harsewinkel, Messrs Claas with their tractors, combines etc. So, it was not surprising, that together with the Claas team also Mr. Jan-Hendrik Mohr, responsible in the Claas group management for the sales department, was present at the official inauguration.
