To the householder & business operator AUGUST 2013 Dear resident/business operator, RE: James Ruse Drive, Rosehill to Clyde – Night work starting Sunday 1 September 2013 Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) is continuing work to improve the flow of traffic on James Ruse Drive from Rosehill to Clyde. This project is part of the NSW Government’s $246 million Pinch Point Program which aims to reduce delays, manage congestion and maintain travel times on Sydney’s main roads during week day peak periods. More information on the James Ruse Drive project can be found at www.rms.nsw.gov.au/roadprojects search ‘James Ruse Drive’. The first stage of work is completed. It involved extending right turn lanes at James Ruse Drive southbound to Parramatta Road and southbound to Prospect Street. The last stage of work will start on Sunday 1 September 2013 and be completed in June 2014, weather permitting. Work includes: • Closing the central median to prevent right turns into and out of Hope Street and the Rosehill Racecourse access opposite Hope Street. • Providing dedicated left turn lanes on James Ruse Drive southbound to Grand Avenue and northbound to Hassall Street. • Providing an extended right turn lane on James Ruse Drive northbound into Grand Avenue. • Improving corner kerbs to facilitate truck turns. • Building and improving pedestrian crossing and access facilities into the racecourse. Investigations have shown that the proposed third right turn lane from Hassall Street eastbound to James Ruse Drive is not possible due to constraints identified during the detailed design. Due to heavy traffic volumes during daytime, most of this work will be done at night, Sunday to Friday, from 8pm to 5am. Minor work will take place during the day from Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm. The site compound for this project is located at the Arthur Street Granville M4 viaduct underpass. There will be noise associated with this work, however every effort will be made to minimise the impact of noise on nearby businesses and residents. Please allow extra journey time as delays may occur while work is carried out. The section of road adjacent to the work area will be partially closed during night working hours to ensure road worker and road user safety. Detours are not required. During this work motorists are asked to follow the signs, including reduced speed limits, and to follow the direction of traffic controllers. Up to date information regarding this work, including any date changes, will be displayed on electronic message signs in the area. RMS apologises for any inconvenience this work may cause and appreciate the patience of motorists.
