Sprint One Million has provided technology resources to our high school students. Sprint 1 Million is working on doubling current data allotments from 10 GB to 20 GB per month through June 30, 2020. They are also working on allocating remaining inventory to districts that are immediately implementing remote learning to help support their e-learning plans. Additionally, they want to accelerate the receipt of more than 100,000 new mobile hotspots devices that are allocated for the 2020-2021 school year in hopes of getting them to our 8th-grade students sooner. Our staff will then work on filtering issues. We will have eleven buses ready by Friday, March 20, 2020, and nine more by Friday, March 27, 2020. 4 WiFi on Wheels – Community Outreach March 23 – April 3, 2020 A total of 20 buses and 1 Mobile Tech Lab equipped with WiFi capability will canvas the La Joya ISD communities to provide students access to digital and online resources. Buses will be stationed at selected neighborhood areas and will rotate through the streets listed below on different days. Maintain clarity among all stakeholders who are contributing to the Plan for Instructional Continuity During High Absenteeism and School Closure. 2. Work collaboratively among all departments to provide solutions to aid all stakeholders. 3. Provide the necessary TEKS based instructional resources to meet the needs of students. 4. Communicate with all stakeholders through various avenues will be essential. Ex. District Website, Outlook emails, phone calls, or text messages Principals/ Assistant Principals: 1. Post the Plan for Instructional Continuity During High Absenteeism and School Closures on the school website. 2. Provide the necessary TEKS based instructional resources/print packets. 3. Ensure teachers are communicating with students on a weekly basis. 4. Communicate with parents as necessary. 5. Verify the teacher's grade entry weekly through the submission of teacher contact logs. Teachers: 1. Secondary teachers will post the assigned work on the google drive for students. 2. Elementary students in 3rd-5th grade can submit required work through a technology app such as WhatsApp, ClassDojo, or SeeSaw. The teacher will verify student work for all students through weekly phone calls. 3. All teachers will provide grades for assigned work and input into Skyward gradebook. 4. Make contact with students/parents every week by phone. Ø Elementary: 20 students a week Ø Middle School: 20 students a week Ø High School: 20 students a week 5. Teachers are expected to work from home and email the campus principal their contact log unless told otherwise instructed by our Superintendent of Schools or designee. 8 Dual Credit Faculty: 1. Dual Credit Instructors will also adhere to STC procedures. 2. Dual Credit Faculty must complete the Blackboard Fundamentals training by March 25. Once logged into Blackboard, click on the link titled Blackboard Fundamentals Training, which will guide you to the required training. 3. Additional support will be available by the South Texas College Distance Learning Department during March 23-29. Contact information is as follows: 956-872-2598 or [email protected] 4. Dual Credit Faculty need to contact their South Texas College Department Chairs for additional support in moving their instruction online. Dual Credit Students: 1. Dual Credit students will have access to Blackboard Online Student Orientation starting March 23, 2020. Students will learn how to log in, upload assignments, use the discussion forum, and take any assigned exams. 2. Any student needing additional assistance with their course can contact their STC instructor. 4. Dual Credit Students who need to reset passwords can email their name and contact information to [email protected] 9 Campus Staff: 1. Campus staff will come in to assist with the distribution of assigned work to our students. Campus staff is defined as Principals, Assistant Principals, Supervisors, Teachers, Counselors, Librarians, Campus Secretary, and Face Liaisons, or Social Workers. 2. Monday, March 23 will be utilized to meet with staff and prepare instructional resources for distribution.
