UTRGV (14-6-0) and San Jose State (8-9-3) battled through the first half as they took a scoreless match into halftime. Both teams finished the first 45 minutes with one shot on goal. The scoreless match continued into the second half before San Jose State’s Omar LeMus scored a goal to give San Jose State the 1-0 lead at the 79:02 mark. UTRGV finished with four shots on goal but it was Rodrigo Reyes-Zavala (1-1) who made the one goal stand with four saves. Junior Andy Rios (11-5) also recorded four saves. UTRGV (14-5-0) will face the winner of No. 3 Seattle U and No. 6 San Jose State on Friday at 9 p.m. at Championship Field. UNLV (10-10-1) jumped out to the 1-0 lead after a goal by Bay Kurtz at the 11:36 mark but UTRGV roared back with four unanswered goals. Junior Kyle Edwards tied it at 1-1 with his 14th goal of the season after taking the ball and putting in the back of the net with his left foot from the top of the box. With the clock winding down in the first half, senior Rooby DalusMa gave UTRGV the 2-1 lead with his third goal of the season. In the second half, junior WilliaM Akio extended the UTRGV lead with his fifth goal of the season as he took the pass from Edwards and put it in the net at the 57:37 mark. Dalusma put the match away with his second goal of the match as he dribbled past the UNLV goalie Enrique AdaMe (6-8-1) and found the empty net. UNLV outshot UTRGV 11 to 10 but UTRGV outshot UNLV 6 to 3 on goal.
