Junior Bryce Box scored his first goal of the season to provide all of the necessary offense in the 70th minute. Box now has five-career goals, three of which have been game-winners. Senior Angel Lopez notched his third assist of the season on the play. Senior Andy Rios (4-1-0) made one save for his second shutout of the season, the seventh of his career. UTRGV (4-1-0) was outshot by UCA (4-2-1) 12-9, but outshot UCA on goal 4-1. UTRGV (3-1) trailed 1-0 after a Marshall goal by Vinicius Fernandes at 11:39 but senior Kyle Edwards didn’t waste much time to start the second half as he tied the match at 1-1 at 45:20. Edwards took the pass from senior Angel Lopez to score his third goal of the season. Junior William Akio gave UTRGV the lead for good as he took a pass from Lopez and scored his second goal of the season, which made it 2-1 at 69:53. Almost seven minutes later, Akio converted on a penalty kick at 76:38 for his second goal of the match to make it 3-1 UTRGV. Marshall’s Bleno Cruz added a goal in the final seconds to get within 3-2.
