It was located in the old part of the Swiss city of Bern, in the upper section of Spitalgasse, near Holy Spirit Church. After a political decision on December 15, 1864, the Christoffelturm was removed by Gottlieb Ott, a Swiss building contractor. Ott began the destruction of the tower in spring of the following year. Bundeshaus (Federal Palace of Switzerland),The Swiss House of Parliaments is a representative building dominating the Square. Constructed by the end of 19th century. The Resolution, which was unanimously adopted by the UN Secu- rity Council in 2000, pursues three main objectives: an increased participation of women in peace processes, the prevention of and protection from gender-based violence against seCurity women and girls, and the adoption of a gender perspective in all projects and programmes of peace promotion. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// No document has so strongly marked the international debate on gender and peace pro- motion in political and academic circles as has Resolution 1325. The 10-year anniversary provides an opportunity to cast a critical glance at progress made to date, and to discuss the 10 yeArs of un seCurity CounCiL future challenges associated with Resolution 1325. resoLution 1325 In two panel discussions international and national experts will reflect on the role of women and men as victims of armed conflict as well as actors in waging war and building peace. Go- ing beyond the common thematic stereotypes, issues such as gender-specific violence against opportunities & Limits men and the experiences made by female combatants will be tabled for discussion. Furthermore, the event will provide the framework for launching a new edition of the Na- tional Action Plan (NAP) for the implementation of Resolution 1325.
