JOB NO. 17-017 City of Manhattan Beach invites applications for the position of Battalion Chief It is the mission of the Manhattan Beach Fire Department to preserve life, property, and the environment through decisive action, strong leadership, teamwork, and dedicated community partnerships. Our Community anhattan Beach, the city of “Sun, Sand, and M Sea” is a vibrant, engaged community, located in the South Bay area of Los Angeles County. The City of Manhattan Beach population (35,726) offers residents a pleasant, peaceful living environment as well as easy access to the many recreational activities available in Southern California. Manhattan Beach is truly a wonderful and cosmopolitan place to live, but maintains the warmth of a small quaint town atmosphere, far removed from the stress of typical urban life. Within its 3.89 square miles encompass an impressive array of housing, recreation, public service, and transportation opportunities. In addition to its popular coastline, the community is home to large numbers of Tourist and family-oriented events, such as Manhattan Beach Open volleyball, the International Surf Festival, Hometown Fair, Concerts in the Park, Pumpkins Races, and Holiday Fireworks to name a few. The City also has an award winning school district that has attained national recognition. The Manhattan Beach Unified School District has five elementary schools, one middle school and one high school that serve the community. Our Fire Department he Manhattan Beach Fire Department’s responsibilities include fire T suppression, emergency medical services, emergency preparedness, public education, fire inspections, plan checks, permits and code enforcement. The Fire Department consists of two fire stations and thirty career Firefighters who are trained to provide the highest level of fire, medical and rescue assistance.
