The Nazis had captured these files,as well as Romanov assets, during their invasion of the Soviet Union. The Nazis Book Review intended to employ these files after their victory, and, after installing a puppet Czar in Russia, to legally claim massive deposits in London and Rockefeller-connected banks for this Czar. The files also reportedly showed how the banking sys tem internal to the Soviet Union had carried over intact from tzarist days. This research, however, is based for the most part on primary sources, specifically on the records declassified in the United States in 2007 as a consequence of the Nazi War Crimes Disclosure Act. The majority of the historiography on this topic either predates or neglects these records. The study of covert operations inside the Iron Curtain during the early Cold War, sponsored by Western states using émigré agents, usually ends with the conclusion that these operations were a failure, both in operational terms and from the point of view of the intelligence gathered.

  • 'Owned' Vatican Guilt for the Church's Role in the Holocaust?
Studies in Christian-Jewish Relations Volume 4 (2009): Madigan CP 1-18 CONFERENCE PROCEEDING Has the Papacy ‘Owned’ Vatican Guilt for the Church’s Role in the Holocaust? Kevin Madigan Harvard Divinity School Plenary presentation at the Annual Meeting of the Council of Centers on Christian-Jewish Relations November 1, 2009, Florida State University, Boca Raton, Florida Given my reflections in this presentation, it is perhaps appropriate to begin with a confession. What I have written on the subject of the papacy and the Shoah in the past was marked by a confidence and even self-righteousness that I now find embarrassing and even appalling. (Incidentally, this observation about self-righteousness would apply all the more, I am afraid, to those defenders of the wartime pope.) In any case, I will try and smother those unfortunate qualities in my presentation. Let me hasten to underline that, by and large, I do not wish to retract conclusions I have reached, which, in preparation for this presentation, have not essentially changed. But I have come to perceive much more clearly the need for humility in rendering judgment, even harsh judgment, on the Catholic actors, especially the leading Catholic actors of the period. As José Sanchez, with whose conclusions in his book on understanding the controversy surrounding the wartime pope I otherwise largely disagree, has rightly pointed out, “it is easy to second guess after the events.”1 This somewhat uninflected observation means, I take it, that, in the case of the Holy See and the Holocaust, the calculus of whether to speak or to act was reached in the cauldron of a savage world war, wrought in the matrix of competing interests and complicated by uncertainty as to whether acting or speaking would result in relief for or reprisal.

Statement of the Case This proceeding arises under the whistleblower protection provisions of the Seaman's Protection Act ("SPA"), 46 U.S.C. § 2114(a), as amended by Section 611 of the Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2010, P.L 111-281, and as implemented by 29 C.F.R. § 1986. On June 20, 2013, John Loftus ("Loftus" or "Complainant") filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration ("OSHA") alleging his employer, Horizon Lines, Inc. ("Horizon"), unlawfully retaliated against him. Specifically, Loftus alleges Horizon constructively discharged him for reporting to the United States Coast Guard ("USCG") and its agent, the American Bureau of Shipping ("ABS"), what he believed to be violations of maritime safety law and regulations on the ship he worked as Master. On August 6, 2014, OSHA's Assistant Regional Administrator issued an order dismissing Loftus's complaint on behalf of the Secretary of Labor ("Secretary") concluding a prior arbitration proceeding concerning the same allegations correctly resulted in Horizon's favor.

  • Remembering the Holocaust
REMEMBERING THE HOLOCAUST John J. Loftus* My name is John Loftus. It is probably kind of silly to have an Irish-Catholic as president of the Holocaust Museum.1 A lot of us wonder why we even have a Holocaust Museum for Jews. Every ethnic group has genocide. What was the largest number of people killed? During the middle passage of slavery, tens of millions of Africans died during the slave trade. What ethnic group had the highest percentage of their people killed? It was not the Jews; it was the Armenians. One out of every three Armenians in the world died in Turkish deportations in World War I. How about an Irish Museum? The population of Ireland went from eight million to five million. How about a museum for the Native Americans? More than 700 tribes completely disappeared several centuries ago. They were just murdered. The genocide against the Jews was terrible, but more terrible than I realized. When I first became involved, I discovered that there was something critically different from all the other genocides. Murder was just a means to an end. Nobody wanted to kill all the Africans; they were valuable property. Instead, they wanted to keep them as slaves. Even the Turks did not want to kill all the Arme- nians; they just wanted the land back. People did not want to * © John J. Loftus, 2000. All rights reserved. President, Florida Holocaust Museum. • How the Bush Family Made Its Fortune from the Nazis.Pdf
How the Bush family made its fortune from the Nazis: The Dutch Connection by John Loftus 27 September/ septembre 2000. Centre for Research on Globalisation (CRG), Centre de recherche sur la mondialisation (CRM), globalresearch.ca , 25 September/ septembre 2002 How a famous American family made its fortune from the Nazis For the Bush family, it is a lingering nightmare. For their Nazi clients, the Dutch connection was the mother of all money laundering schemes. From 1945 until 1949, one of the lengthiest and, it now appears, most futile interrogations of a Nazi war crimes suspect began in the American Zone of Occupied Germany. Multibillionaire steel magnate Fritz Thyssen-the man whose steel combine was the cold heart of the Nazi war machine-talked and talked and talked to a joint US- UK interrogation team. For four long years, successive teams of inquisitors tried to break Thyssen's simple claim to possess neither foreign bank accounts nor interests in foreign corporations, no assets that might lead to the missing billions in assets of the Third Reich. The inquisitors failed utterly. Why? Because what the wily Thyssen deposed was, in a sense, true. What the Allied investigators never understood was that they were not asking Thyssen the right question. Thyssen did not need any foreign bank accounts because his family secretly owned an entire chain of banks. He did not have to transfer his Nazi assets at the end of World War II, all he had to do was transfer the ownership documents - stocks, bonds, deeds and trusts--from his bank in Berlin through his bank in Holland to his American friends in New York City: Prescott Bush and Herbert Walker.

A number of these in stitutions, some initiated jointly with allied Western European governments, have systemat ically violated the fundamental rights and freedoms of people in this country and the world over. Prominent among these creations was the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), born in 1947. Since 1973, CounterSpy magazine has exposed and analyzed such intervention in all its facets: covert CIA operations, U.S. interference in foreign labor movements, U.S. aid in cre ating foreign intelligence agencies, multinational corporations-intelligence agency link-ups, and World Bank assistance for counterinsurgency, to name but a few.
