The Junk Rig Glossary (JRG) Version 20 APR 2016 Welcome to the Junk Rig Glossary! The Junk Rig Glossary (JRG) is a Member Project of the Junk Rig Association, initiated by Bruce Weller who, as a then new member, found that he needed a junk 'dictionary’. The aim is to create a comprehensive and fully inclusive glossary of all terms pertaining to junk rig, its implementation and characteristics. It is intended to benefit all who are interested in junk rig, its history and on-going development. A goal of the JRG Project is to encourage a standard vocabulary to assist clarity of expression and understanding. Thus, where competing terms are in common use, one has generally been selected as standard (please see Glossary Conventions: Standard Versus Non-Standard Terms, below) This is in no way intended to impugn non-standard terms or those who favour them. Standard usage is voluntary, and such designations are wide open to review and change. Where possible, terminology established by Hasler and McLeod in Practical Junk Rig has been preferred. Where innovators have developed a planform and associated rigging, their terminology for innovative features is preferred. Otherwise, standards are educed, insofar as possible, from common usage in other publications and online discussion. Your participation in JRG content is warmly welcomed. Edition number of Signed by Richard Bennett Date RICHARD BENNETT OAM 1 PROLOGUE People often tell me how lucky I am to have made a living doing something I love so much. I agree with them. I do love my work. But neither my profession, nor my career, has anything to do with luck. My life, and my mindset, changed forever the day, as a boy, I was taken out to Hartz Mountain. From the summit, I saw a magical landscape that most Tasmanians didn’t know existed. For me, that moment started an obsession with wild places, and a desire to capture the drama they evoke on film. To the west, the magnificent jagged silhouette of Federation Peak dominated the skyline, and to the south, Precipitous Bluff rose sheer for 4000 feet out of the valley. Beyond that lay the south-west coast. I started bushwalking regularly after that, and bought my first camera. In 1965, I attended mountaineering school at Mount Cook on the Tasman Glacier, and in 1969, I was selected to travel to Peru as a member of Australia’s first Andean Expedition. The hardships and successes of the Andean Expedition taught me that I could achieve anything that I wanted. -

Member Orientation Package Revised 2015
SUS Member Orientation Package Revised 2015 We welcome you to Singles Under Sail, Inc. SUS members are required to meet certain education requirements. It is mandatory for all NEW members to have met the following requirements by their second membership renewal date: 1) To have completed the SUS Dockside Orientation Class (DOC), AND 2) To have passed either the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary's or the U.S. Power Squadron's Basic Boating Course (8 hours minimum), OR provide proof of having held a U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s license, AND 3) To attend an SUS Member Orientation Class (MOC). See the SUS Bylaws (attached) for additional information. In the Member Orientation Class (which lasts approximately 1-1/2 hours) we will review SUS policies, procedures and guidelines and give you an opportunity to ask questions about the Club. The Dockside Orientation Class is approximately 4 hours and given on a docked boat (usually one of the SUS Skipper’s boats). We encourage everyone to enhance SUS sailing activities with sailing and boating classes. We believe it is important for all members to become active, contributing, participants in SUS. In return you can enjoy great sailing, programs and social events with some of the best people you may ever meet. This booklet contains all the information you will need to become an active participant in SUS. Kristiina, [email protected] Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Abstract Where does the work of de/colonizing preservice teacher education begin? Aboriginal children‘s literature? Storytelling and theatrical performance? Or, with a paradigm shift? This article takes up some of these questions and challenges, old and new, and begins to problematize these deeper layers. In this article, the authors explore the conversations and counterpoints that came about looking at the theme of social justice through the lens of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) children‘s literature. As the scope of this lens widened, it became more evident to the authors that there are several filters that can be applied to the work of de/colonizing preservice teacher education programs and the larger educational system. This article also explores what it means to act and perform notions of de/colonization, and is constructed like a script, thus bridging the voices of academia, theatre, and Indigenous knowledge. In the first half (the academic script) the authors work through the messy and tangled web of de/colonization, while the second half (the actors‘ script) examines these frameworks and narratives through the actor‘s voice. The article calls into question the notions of performing inquiry and deconstructing narrative. It was then staged for each edition of the Games with the exception of those in St Louis in 1904. Women competed in the mixed sailing events as of 1900. Since the Games of the XXIV Olympiad in Seoul in 1988, some events have been reserved only for them. KEY STAGES Entry 1894: At the Paris Congress held in June, the desire was expressed for nautical sports (rowing, sailing and swimming) to be on the Olympic programme. Windsurfing 1980: At the 83rd IOC Session held in July and August in Moscow, it was decided to add a mixed windsurfing event (windglider) to the programme of the Games of the XXIII Olympiad in Los Angeles in 1984.
