Backfiring from the chair:

Our breakfast run on Sunday to Serrengeti, suggested by Clive & Shirley, was most certainly the best attended run yet. @my count, 36 peeps and 28 bikes! (If I missed anyone, I’m sure you will understand).

A warm welcome to all our visitors and future members! I trust you have already started getting to know some of the guys and dolls. To those visitors who joined us on the afterburner to the Raduim, you rock!

The peeps attending:

Andrew and Erica Andre Belinda Wells Anita Lionel and Hannetjie Peter A Ivor Joe and Tish Peter K Mathew Nikki (visitor) Mike C John (visitor) Rob Clive and Shirley Nigel Nick Jacque (visitor) Grant Henry (visitor) Nico (visitor) Clive D and Sonja (visitors) Neville and Colleen (visitors) Gansen (DNR) Douglas and Caroline (visitors) Malcolm (visitor) Robert and Mary Anne (visitors)

In order to make the run a bit longer, we decided to head out along road to the four way stop in Bapsfontien, here we turned left and straight on to Rietvlei dam. The bugger was, the lycra brigade

decided to stage a go slow, oops,… a race. This prevented the full operation of the throttles and caused trucks and cars to use the lane on the right side of the road. Not the best situation, but the ride was still good and all arrived safely at our destination.

The last leg of the run was at top speed along the back to the and into The Serrengeti Estate.

Considering the size of our group, Mike C ( our esteemed sweeper) did damn well. The Deck Restaurant in Serrengeti also coped pretty well considering the fact that this venue was also the start of the lycra race and many of it’s entrants ended up here for breakfast.

The view from the deck was sublime! (Had to squeeze that in there).

As mentioned, there was an afterburner to the Radium, suggested by Nigel, and a great one at that! The jazz was heavenly, although not everyone’s cup of tea. Manny; the now infamous owner, thanks to Carlie Cooper, has given us a personal invite to attend a “by invite only Rally” which carries a very colourful name. Don’t ask me what the name is, if you want to know, you will have to attend the Rally next year.

Some of us decided to head to the Crew Room on the way home, this ended up with us getting home around 16h30, if my memory serves me correctly.

The Outcasts Night Jol on the 1st February was attended by:

Nigel Andrew and Erica Wells

We bumped into our good friend Murray who is now riding with the Ravens. The event was well attended by East Rand Clubs, there were even members from Ulysses Far East Rand. Dex and his wife mentioned their surprise to see UER members at day/night jols, my remark,… New beginnings!

On the 15th February we will be having a Valentine’s Braai at Andre and Belinda’s Pad, starting from around 17h00 till late.

The men MUST bring a gift, nicely wrapped, for a woman, (not your woman). Whether you are single, married or pretending to be married, you must bring a gift. The gift does not need to be expensive, we thought, around R50,oo to R100,oo should do the trick. So please, put some thought into it. The ladies will then get to draw for gifts.

As usual, it will be a bring and braai.

This Saturday, 9th February is the Vlakvark Run @ Webo’s Pub and Grill in Fochville, hosted by the Roadhogs. Entance is ,oo. For those who want to attend, I will be leaving from Bimbo’s @ 07h30.

The breakfast run on the 10th will be to Montague’s in Henly on Klip, Andrew will be the co-ordinator for this ride.

Those who are planning to do the Buffalo Rally this year, please get in contact with Joe, who will be the co-ordinator.

Till we ride again,

Wells.
