I Have Set Watchmen on Your Walls, O Jerusalem; They Shall Never Hold Their Peace Day Or Night Volume 22, Number 3 March 2019 “I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the LORD, do not keep silent.” Isaiah 62:6 The purpose for the prayer guide is to provide our Watchmen, those who stand in the gap through prayer, with ways they can undergird the mandate and mission of our church: to take the gospel of Jesus Christ across the street and around the world. This prayer guide will assist you daily in praying for the needs of our church, community, city, state, country, missionaries, and world. Join us as we cry out to our Father in Brokenness and repentance for Him to pour out His Spirit upon us and do exceedingly, aBundantly Beyond all that we could ever ask, think, or imagine. Pray for revival to ignite our church and a spiritual awakening to spread throughout our city. Ask the Father to Bless Pastor Kevin, Kim, Lindsey, Lauren, and Kayla with every spiritual and physical Blessing. Pray for Pastor Kevin’s Brother, Chad, who is Battling cancer. Intercede on Behalf of our church family. Ask the Father to move mightily amongst us in 2019. Lift up our students and leaders who are participating in BLAST this weekend. Pray for the God’s Spirit to do a renewed and redemptive work in our students. Pray for James Herron and family as they serve as IMB missionaries on the Lake Victoria Islands in Jinga, Uganda. Ask the Father to convict the BerBer Imazighen unreached people group of Morocco to Become fully devoted followers of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for Brother Mark Harrison, DeBBie, and family, to Be greatly used By God this year. Pray for our choir, praise team, and orchestra as they prepare to lead us into God’s throne room for worship. Pray for Mayor Hogeland, and wife Susan, as he continues to lead our city with honor and integrity. Pray for Chris Parker as he plants a church in Buckeye, Arizona. Intercede on Behalf of our IMB and NAMB missionaries who faithfully serve in God’s Kingdom at home and aBroad. Ask the Father to convict the Berber Rif unreached people group of Morocco to Become fully devoted followers of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for De Allen, Cindy, and family, as he oversees our finances and facilities. Lift up the BLAST leaders and students who will lead us in a time of worship this morning. Intercede for Caleb Waid as he preaches. Pray for those who will follow the Lord in Believer’s Baptism this morning. Pray that no weapon formed against President Trump and family will prosper. Pray for BoBBy, Tammy, and the Greer family as they continue their season of refreshing here in the states. Petition our Lord to purify our nation from idolatry and immorality. Pray for God’s comfort to fill the lives of Christians who are being persecuted worldwide because of their bold stand for Jesus. Ask the Father to convict the Berber Senhaja unreached people group of Morocco to Become fully devoted followers of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for Phil Cronin, Gina, and family, as he leads us in membership assimilation and community outreach. Thank the Lord for the many volunteers who serve in our Preschool and Children’s Ministries. Pray for Governor Ivey to stand strong in the midst of political adversity. Pray a hedge of protection over our armed forces serving Both at home and aBroad. Petition the Father to anoint missionary Elise Cadet with supernatural power as he serves the LORD through the Holy Bible Church and the 450 children of the Christian School in Petite Riviere de Bayonaise, Haiti. Ask the Father to convict the Berber Shawiya unreached people group of Morocco to Become fully devoted followers of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for Roy McNiel, Kelly, and family, as he prepares to lead us in worship to the King of Kings during Oasis and the LORD’s Day. Lift Kelly up to the throne daily as she continues her treatments for Breast cancer. Ask the Father to heal her completely. Intercede on Behalf of the Women’s BiBle Study as they continue their spring series, “Rooms Full of Riches.” Pray for Pam Edmonson as she teaches today. Earnestly plead with the Father to fill the employees and volunteers of the North Jefferson Women’s Center with wisdom and compassion for the women who come seeking spiritual guidance and help. Pray for Vice President Mike Pence and family as they serve our country with Christian honor and dignity. Ask the Father to convict the Berber Southern Shilha unreached people group of Morocco to Become fully devoted followers of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for God’s Spirit to move mightily tonight in Oasis. Pray for Mark Ramsey, Lisa, and family, as he leads a host of volunteers in the Media Ministry to exalt the Name of Jesus for the live and delayed Broadcasts during our times of worship. Pray for those who will follow the Lord in Believer’s Baptism this evening in Oasis. Ask the Father to encourage our homeBound members who are physically unaBle to join us in worship and Bible study. Ask the Father to convict the Berber Tekna unreached people group of Morocco to Become fully devoted followers of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for Keenan Braden, Peg, and family, as he ministers to our singles. Pray for our Congressional leaders to introduce and pass Bills that comply with “In God We Trust.” Thank the Father for the men and women in Blue who protect the residents of Gardendale. Continue to earnestly pray for the “SUB 25” Spring Semester for college students. Intercede on Behalf of Loyd and Alma Miguel who serve as missionaries to the Miskito, Myanga, and Spanish people of North Central Nicaragua. Pray they will continue to have safe passage to their people groups during a time of political and national turmoil. Ask the Father to convict the Berber Uregu unreached people group of Morocco to Become fully devoted followers of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for Mike Cornelius, Kelley, and family, as he leads our UPWARD sports ministry, especially the current BasketBall season and upcoming BaseBall/softBall season, with its many volunteers and participants. Petition the Father on Behalf of our US senators, Richard ShelBy and Doug Jones, to represent the values of our state and, more importantly, the truth of God’s Word. Pray they will Be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Ask the Father to convict the Berber Warain unreached people group of Morocco to Become fully devoted followers of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for Rob Elliott, Cathy, and family, as he gives direction and leadership to our Recreation Ministry. Lift up the Uganda Mission Team as they leave today to minister on the Islands of Lake Victoria. Ask the Father to protect everyone who serves at the City of Gardendale Fire and Rescue. Pray for Carlos Vargas as he continues to lead the Hope of Life rescue ministry in Guatemala. Ask the Father to convict the Berber Zakara unreached people group of Morocco to Become fully devoted followers of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for Pastor Kevin as he preaches a message entitled: “Fixer Upper” from Luke 19:1-10. Pray for a mighty move of God’s Spirit in today’s worship services. Pray for Leslie Everhart and family as they continue to grieve during the passing of Howard. Ask the Father to anoint Leslie with fresh oil that will strengthen and sustain her as she leads our choirs and orchestra for God’s honor and glory. Pray for God’s joy to permeate our Greeters who volunteer their time to stand at the doors and welcome our members and guests. Ask the Father to convict the Deaf unreached people group of Morocco to become fully devoted followers of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for Sheila Keedy, Pat, and family, as she enlists, encourages, and gives direction to our Women’s Ministry. Lift up the orphans and our widows that they would experience encouragement, peace, and comfort from the Father. Pray for the Lord’s blessing to rest upon our Shuttle Ministry volunteers who transport our attenders to and from their vehicles. Ask the Father to convict the French unreached people group of Morocco to Become fully devoted followers of our Lord Jesus Christ. Lift up the Women’s BiBle Study as they continue their spring series, “Rooms Full of Riches.” Pray for Sheila Keedy as she teaches today. Call on Jehovah Rapha to heal those who are sick in our church body. Pray for Allen Oakley, RoBin, and family, as he continues to cast and implement the vision for the Adult and Men’s Ministries. Pray for God’s favor to abide with Hayley Wilson as she serves at the Baptist Medical and Dental Mission International in Honduras. Ask the Father to convict the Harratine unreached people group of Morocco to Become fully devoted followers of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for God’s Spirit to Be poured out on the leaders and our Senior Adults who attend Worship on Wednesdays. Ask the Father to fill Jen Schmidt with a fresh anointing of God’s Spirit as she speaks to us tonight in Oasis. Pray for Morgan Ramsey as she encourages and leads the middle and high school girls into a greater level of maturity and ministry. Ask the Father to convict the Izarguien unreached people group of Morocco to Become fully devoted followers of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    Essays on Cultural and Institutional Dynamics in Economic Development Using Spatial Analysis by Timothy Birabi Submitted in fulfillment of the requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy Adam Smith Business School College of Social Sciences University of Glasgow April 2016 ©Timothy Birabi i Abstract This thesis seeks to research patterns of economic growth and development from a number of perspectives often resonated in the growth literature. By addressing themes about history, geography, institutions and culture the thesis is able to bring to bear a wide range of inter-related literatures and methodologies within a single content. Additionally, by targeting different administrative levels in its research design and approach, this thesis is also able to provide a comprehensive treatment of the economic growth dilemma from both cross- national and sub-national perspectives. The three chapters herein discuss economic development from two broad dimensions. The first of these chapters takes on the economic growth inquiry by attempting to incorporate cultural geography within a cross-country formal spatial econometric growth framework. By introducing the global cultural dynamics of languages and ethnic groups as spatial network mechanisms, this chapter is able to distinguish economic growth effects accruing from own-country productive efforts from those accruing from interconnections within a global productive network chain. From this, discussions and deductions about the implications for both developed and developing countries are made as regards potentials for gains and losses from such types and levels of productive integration. The second and third chapters take a different spin to the economic development inquiry. They both focus on economic activity in Africa, tackling the relevant issues from a geo-intersected dimension involving historic regional tribal homelands and modern national and subnational administrative territories.

    DIRECTORATE-GENERAL FOR EXTERNAL POLICIES OF THE UNION DIRECTORATE B POLICY DEPARTMENT STUDY A COHERENT EU STRATEGY FOR THE SAHEL Abstract The Sahel region constitutes Europe’s southern geopolitical border. Any instability there will eventually find its way into the European neighbourhood and Europe itself. The present study examines the main challenges affecting the region and offers a critical evaluation of the 2011 EU ‘Strategy for Security and Development in the Sahel’. The strategy identifies the lack of governmental capacity and systemic poverty as the key challenges the region faces and rightly points to concerted action in the security and development domains as the way forward. As such, we take a generally positive view of the diagnosis and the lines of action it envisages. However, we argue that one year after its adoption, the EU’s Sahel strategy has not lived up to expectations. For all the praising about the need for comprehensiveness, the EU’s efforts in the realm of security and development remain significantly disconnected. But ultimately, it is national caveats that pose the greatest threat to a more political implementation of the Sahel strategy. These include a denial of the strategic importance of the region, a lack of willingness to engage with Algeria and a resistance to incorporating military assistance into the EU’s toolbox.
