MAY The Shriek 2016 GREEETINGS NOBLES AND LADIES. By the time this Shriek is published and If you consider the dark period of 2 months in July and August we are not far from this year being 2/3 over. There will be a huge crowd in Pigeon Forge this year, as well as a demanding parade season. The Imperial Session is coming up. The last 4 months of 2016 will be even busier Another Ceremonial, Family Picnic, Car and Bike, and more along with Festivities, followed by more Holiday Festivities. The Motorcycle Raffle will be at its peak demand needing nobles to sell and purchase tickets prior to the final drawing at the yearend Party. A Bengal Bash and a Dance of some type are being discussed. Please pay Special Attention to the Paper Crusade this year. Tony Bowling has stepped up to make it happen. Let’s get it back where it used to be. Thank you Tony!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have a great year going so far in 2016. I want to thank all those that have worked so hard and contributed to our success thus far. A tremendous amount of energy has been expelled doing the things we do. And the need to do more is obvious. That brings me to mentioning the 37 new nobles that came in in 2015 and the 25 or so that have joined us so far in 2016. We need your help!!!!! YOU obviously joined to be active in some way!!!!!! The 2015 ceremonial was in November; The 2016 ceremonial is in June of 2016. So we have 60 plus new nobles that need to be involved. Some of you have already joined units, clubs, and committees. Those of you that haven’t we need you to get involved. The last 4 months of this year are jammed with needed fundraising efforts along with some complimentary efforts at no charge such as our Halloween Festivities, Kids Christmas Party, and Circus 2017 Kickoff Party. Again I am asking the new 2015 and 2016 Nobles to get involved. 1) Come to the temple business meetings. 2) Read the Temple Publications the Shriek and the Internet Blast 3) Step-up and purchase tickets at fundraisers, raffles and events. 4) Participate in the complimentary efforts by helping with all the serving and cleanup that has to be done. More than that bring your families and friends. 5) If you have Questions don’t hesitate to ask any member of the temple management Potentate, Recorder, Treasurer, Divan Members, Trustees. Stop at the office and obtain a calendar book all of our phone numbers and contact information are in that book. 6) In particular talk to the Unit Directors, Club presidents, Committee Chairmen and Co Chairmen. 7) Reach Back, Dig in and Step up One More Time. ITS FUN TO DO! IT IS ALSO A REWARDING EXPERIENCE!!!!!! We are all aware that the Building at the Shrine center is maxed out as well as our parking facilities. Please attend all the meetings as the 2016 year comes to a successful close. There is going to be a lot going on we need the Noble Impute and Participation. We also voted to participate in the Lexington Hospital’s 90th year celebration on May 15th. We plan to walk as a unit in their parade. The Syrian Shrine Membership Committee is putting together a group of Ambassadors to the Blue Lodge. These ambassadors already belong to their respective lodges and are willing to communicate our Shrine activities. These ambassadors belonging to NKSC are: Al Tucker, Hebron; Ralph Steele, Florence; Kevin Schneider, Bradford. NKSC would like to thank these Nobles for helping in this endeavor. Don’t forget, NKSC will not be meeting in April. We will be meeting MEMBERSHIP Membership Committee

The Membership Committee has been sorting through well over three hundred names of Nobles who never received a dues notice from The Imperial Shrine. We have now completed the arduous task of contacting these Nobles. I would like to thank Gary Wainscott and Carl Idler for all of their help in completing this task. The three areas the committee is responsible for are recruitment, retention and reinstatement. However, The Membership Committee is not wholly responsible for these areas. The responsibilities of membership fall on the shoulders of all the Nobility of the Syrian Shrine. Membership is everyone’s business. So, what can you do as a Noble of Syrian Shrine do to help in recruitment, retention and reinstatement? To begin with, you may serve on the committee. We are always looking for those Nobles willing to lend a hand. If committee work is something you aren’t interested in, we are forming an ambassador program to establish on-going communications with the Blue Lodge. This area is where we really need your help. Ideally, we are looking for those Nobles that are willing to go back to their Blue Lodge and just talk about the activities of the Shrine. That’s a pretty general statement. Now, let me get into specifics. First of all, we want this individual to already be a member of the lodge in which he serves as Ambassador. We, as a committee, understand that there will be some lodges where we do not have Shriners. We are working on covering those lodges. The Ambassador should peruse The Shriek to see what activities are taking place at the Shrine. If there is an activity that he thinks would be of interest, he then talks about that activity at the appropriate time during the lodge meeting. Let’s take the circus for example. The Ambassador may say something like this, “The Shrine Circus will be at BB&T Arena in Highland Heights on February 2nd, 3rd, & 4th. Tickets are $10, $20, and $30. Call the Shrine Circus Office for tickets. Worshipful Master, I have a poster I would like to put up if I may.” When you talk about Shrine activates, we also want you to say something about the hospital. This is something we want you to talk about every time you get up to speak. This may go something like this, “Shriners Hospital in Cincinnati has a new website that highlights our plastic surgery specialties and rehabilitation services as well as our burn expertise. The website is www.shrinershospitalcincinnati.org. Please check out this website for more information about our hospital.” This is all we are asking you to do. No, you don’t have to say something every time your lodge meets. We do want you to take petitions and reinstatement forms with you when attending lodge. You never know when you might need one. The Membership Committee would like to meet with the ambassadors occasionally. We want you to comfortable and successful in doing this. We want to give you everything you need to be successful and we want to hear from you. In these meetings, we hope to discuss things like what we can do to help you. What do you think is working and what isn’t? What other things can an ambassador do to establish a professional relationship with his lodge? These Nobles have already agreed to be Ambassadors to their respective lodges: Ralph Steele- Florence Chief Rabban Rob Smith- Henry Barnes Michael Miles- NC Harmony Ronnie Wardrup- NC Harmony Kevin Schneider- Bradford Ryan Clendenin- Boone-Union Al Tucker- Hebron The Membership Committee would like to thank these Nobles for taking this on. As you can see, we need much more help with our ambassador program. Please give it some thought. If you are willing, please call Al Tucker at 859/384- 4119 or e-mail him at [email protected].
