Received: 17 Jun 2017, Accepted: 24 Sep 2017 Abstract Background: The rhizome of Iris songarica Scherenk has been prescribed as anodyne in Persian traditional medicine system. However, its effects have never been investigated experimentally. Thus, the present study was designed to evaluate the antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory effects of alcoholic extract of Iris songarica Scherenk rhizome in mice. Material and Methods: In this experimental study, adult male balb/c mice were used. 40 animals were allocated into five equal groups (control, morphine 5mg/kg, the extracts at doses of 100, 200 and 300 mg.kg) and tested for antinociceptive evaluation via using hot-plate in 30,60 and 120 minutes after the investigations. Also, the other 36 mice were divided into six equal groups (no-inflammation control, inflammation model, dexamethasone 4 mg/kg and the extracts at doses of 100, 200 and 300 mg.kg) and evaluated for anti-inflammatory activity in xylene induced inflammation model. All the investigations were done via intraperitoneal injection. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA or Kruskal-Wallis tests in SPSS. Results: Compared to the control group, the extract at the all doses could increase latency time in hot plate test at 30, 60 and 120 minutes after investigation (p<0.05).This potential was comparable to morphine in the high doses or long time. In addition, the extracts at the all doses exhibited high anti- inflammatory activity which was comparable to dexamethasone (p<0.001). Conclusion: The results of present study clearly showed that Iris songarica Scherenk rhizome has antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activities in mice. وﺟﻮد، ﺗﺎﮐﻨﻮن اﺛﺮات آن ﻣﻮرد ارزﯾﺎﺑﯽ ﻋﻠﻤﯽ ﻗﺮار ﻧﮕﺮﻓﺘﻪ اﺳﺖ. ﺑﻨﺎﺑﺮاﯾﻦ، ﻣﻄﺎﻟﻌﻪ ﺣﺎﺿﺮ ﺑﻪ ﻣﻨﻈﻮر ارزﯾﺎﺑﯽ اﺛﺮات ﺿﺪ دردي و ﺿﺪ اﻟﺘﻬﺎﺑﯽ ﻋﺼﺎره اﻟﮑﻠﯽ رﯾﺰوم زﻧﺒﻖ در ﻣﻮش آزﻣﺎﯾﺸﮕﺎﻫﯽ ﻃﺮاﺣﯽ ﮔﺮدﯾﺪ. ﻣﻮاد و روش ﻫﺎ: در اﯾﻦ ﻣﻄﺎﻟﻌﻪ ﺗﺠﺮﺑﯽ از ﻣﻮش ﻫﺎي ﻧﺮ ﻧﮋاد ﺑﺎﻟﺐ-ﺳﯽ اﺳﺘﻔﺎده ﺷﺪ. 40 ﺳﺮ ﻣﻮش ﺑﻪ ﭘﻨﺞ ﮔﺮوه ﻣﺴﺎوي ﺗﻘﺴﯿﻢ ﺷﺪه (ﮐﻨﺘﺮل، ﻣﻮرﻓﯿﻦ 5 ﻣﯿﻠﯽﮔﺮم ﺑﺮ ﮐﯿﻠﻮﮔﺮم ، ﻋﺼﺎره در دوزﻫﺎي 100 و 200، 300 ﻣﯿﻠﯽﮔﺮم ﺑﺮ ﮐﯿﻠﻮﮔﺮم) و ﺑﺎ آزﻣﻮن ﻫﺎت ﭘﻠﯿﺖ در زﻣﺎن ﻫﺎي 30، 60 و 120دﻗﯿﻘﻪ ﺑﻌﺪ از درﯾﺎﻓﺖ ﻣﺪاﺧﻼت ﻣﻮرد ارزﯾﺎﺑﯽ ﻗﺮار ﮔﺮﻓﺘﻨﺪ. ﻋﻼوه ﺑﺮ اﯾﻦ، 36 ﻣﻮش دﯾﮕﺮ ﺑﻪ ﺷﺶ ﮔﺮوه ﻣﺴﺎوي ﺗﻘﺴﯿﻢ (ﮐﻨﺘﺮل ﺑﺪون اﯾﺠﺎد اﻟﺘﻬﺎب، ﻣﺪل اﻟﺘﻬﺎب، دﮔﺰا ﻣﺘﺎزون 5 ﻣﯿﻠﯽﮔﺮم ﺑﺮ ﮐﯿﻠﻮﮔﺮم، ﻋﺼﺎره در دوزﻫﺎي 100 و 200، 300 ﻣﯿﻠﯽ ﮔﺮم ﺑﺮ ﮐﯿﻠﻮﮔﺮم) و ﺑﺎ آزﻣﻮن اﯾﺠﺎد اﻟﺘﻬﺎب ﺗﻮﺳﻂ ﮔﺰﯾﻠﻞ ﺑﺮرﺳﯽ ﺷﺪﻧﺪ. ﺗﻤﺎم ﻣﺪاﺧﻼت ﺑﻪ ﺻﻮرت ﺗﺰرﯾﻖ درون ﺻﻔﺎﻗﯽ اﻧﺠﺎم ﺷﺪ. داده ﻫﺎ ﺑﺎ آزﻣﻮن ﻫﺎي آﻣﺎري ﺗﺤﻠﯿﻞ وارﯾﺎﻧﺲ ﯾﮏﻃﺮﻓﻪ ﯾﺎ ﮐﺮوﺳﮑﺎل واﻟﯿﺲ و ﺑﻪ ﮐﻤﮏ ﻧﺮم اﻓﺰار آﻣﺎري SPSS ﺗﺤﻠﯿﻞ ﺷﺪﻧﺪ. ﯾﺎﻓﺘﻪﻫﺎ: در ﻗﯿﺎس ﺑﺎ ﮔﺮوه ﮐﻨﺘﺮل، ﻋﺼﺎره در ﺗﻤﺎم دوزﻫﺎ ﺑﻪ ﻃﻮر ﻣﻌﻨﯽ داري زﻣﺎن ﭘﺎﺳﺦ ﺑﻪ ﻣﺤﺮك ﺣﺮارﺗﯽ را اﻓﺰاﯾﺶ داد (p <0/05). اﯾﻦ ﺗﻮاﻧﺎﯾﯽ در دوزﻫﺎي ﺑﺎﻻ و ﯾﺎ زﻣﺎن ﺑﯿﺸﺘﺮ ﺑﺎ ﻣﻮرﻓﯿﻦ ﺑﺮاﺑﺮ ﺑﻮد. ﻫﻢﭼﻨﯿﻦ ﻋﺼﺎره در ﺗﻤﺎم دوزﻫﺎ، ﻣﺸﺎﺑﻪ داروي دﮔﺰاﻣﺘﺎزون، ﺑﻪ ﻃﻮر ﻣﻌﻨﯽداري(p <0/001) ﺳﺒﺐ ﮐﺎﻫﺶ اﻟﺘﻬﺎب در ﻣﻮشﻫﺎ ﮔﺮدﯾﺪ. ﻧﺘﯿﺠﻪ ﮔﯿﺮي: ﻧﺘﺎﯾﺞ اﯾﻦ ﻣﻄﺎﻟﻌﻪ ﺑﻪ ﻃﻮر آﺷﮑﺎر ﻧﺸﺎن داد ﮐﻪ رﯾﺰوم زﻧﺒﻖ ﺑﯿﺎﺑﺎﻧﯽ ﺧﻮاص ﺿﺪ دردي و ﺿﺪ اﻟﺘﻬﺎﺑﯽ در ﻣﻮش ﮐﻮﭼﮏ آزﻣﺎﯾﺸﮕﺎﻫﯽ دارد. واژﮔﺎن ﮐﻠﯿﺪي: ﻓﻌﺎﻟﯿﺖ ﺿﺪ دردي، ﻓﻌﺎﻟﯿﺖ ﺿﺪ اﻟﺘﻬﺎﺑﯽ، زﻧﺒﻖ ﺑﯿﺎﺑﺎﻧﯽ، رﯾﺰوم *ﻧﻮﯾﺴﻨﺪه ﻣﺴﺌﻮل: اﯾﺮان، ﺑﯿﺮﺟﻨﺪ، داﻧﺸﮕﺎه ﻋﻠﻮم ﭘﺰﺷﮑﯽ ﺑﯿﺮﺟﻨﺪ، ﯾﮑﯽ از ﻣﺘﺪاولﺗﺮﯾﻦ و ﺷﻨﺎﺧﺘﻪ ﺷﺪهﺗﺮﯾﻦ ﻣﯽ ﺷﻮد (6). از ﺟﻤﻠﻪ ﻋﻮارض ﺷﺎﯾﻊ داروﻫﺎي ﺿﺪاﻟﺘﻬﺎب ﻏﯿﺮ ﻋﻮارﺿﯽ اﺳﺖ ﮐﻪ ﻫﻤﻮاره اﻧﺪﯾﺸﻪ و ذﻫﻦ ﺟﺎﻣﻌﻪ ي ﭘﺰﺷﮑﯽ را اﺳﺘﺮوﺋﯿﺪي ﻣﯽ ﺗﻮان ﺑﻪ ﺗﺤﺮﯾﮏ ﮔﻮارﺷﯽ، آﺳﯿﺐ ﺑﻪ ﮐﻠﯿﻪ ﻫﺎ، ﺑﻪ ﺧﻮد ﻣﺸﻐﻮل داﺷﺘﻪ اﺳﺖ. ﻫﺮ ﮐﺲ در زﻧﺪﮔﯽ ﺧﻮد ﺑﻪ ﮔﻮﻧﻪ اﻓﺰاﯾﺶ ﻓﺸﺎر ﺧﻮن، ﻧﺎرﺳﺎﯾﯽ ﮐﻠﯿﻪ ﻫﺎ (ﭼﻨﺎنﭼﻪ ﺑﻪ ﺻﻮرت ﺑﯽ اي ﺑﺎ درد ﻣﻮاﺟﻪ ﺑﻮده اﺳﺖ و ﺑﺮ اﺳﺎس ﺧﺎﻃﺮات و ﺗﺠﺮﺑﻪ ﻫﺎي روﯾﻪ و ﯾﺎ ﻫﻤﺮاه ﺑﺎ داروﻫﺎي ﮐﺎﻫﻨﺪه ﻓﺸﺎرﺧﻮن و ادرار آورﻫﺎ ﺧﻮﯾﺶ از درد ﺳﺨﻦ ﮔﻔﺘﻪ و آن را ﺗﻌﺮﯾﻒ ﻣﯽ ﮐﻨﺪ. در ﻣﺼﺮف ﮔﺮدﻧﺪ) اﻓﺰاﯾﺶ ﺣﺴﺎﺳﯿﺖ ﺑﻪ ﻧﻮر (ﺑﻪ وﯾﮋه دﯾﮑﻠﻮﻓﻨﺎك ﻓﯿﺰﯾﻮﻟﻮژي ﻃﺒﯿﻌﺖ اﻧﺴﺎن ﻫﻨﮕﺎﻣﯽ ﮐﻪ ﺑﺎﻓﺘﯽ دﭼﺎر آﺳﯿﺐ ﻣﯽ و ﭘﯿﺮوﮐﺴﯿﮑﺎم) و آﺳﯿﺐ ﺑﻪ ﺟﻨﯿﻦ و ﻧﻮزاد اﺷﺎره ﻧﻤﻮد (7). ﺷﻮد، درد ﺑﻪ وﺟﻮد ﻣﯽ آﯾﺪ و ﺷﺨﺺ در ﻣﻘﺎﺑﻞ آن از ﺧﻮد ﺧﻮاب آﻟﻮدﮔﯽ، ﻣﻨﮕﯽ، ﺳﺮدرد، و اﺧﺘﻼﻻت ﺑﯿﻨﺎﯾﯽ (ﭘﺮه واﮐﻨﺶ ﻧﺸﺎن داده و ﺗﻼش ﻣﯽ ﮐﻨﺪ ﻣﺤﺮك دردزا را از ﻣﯿﺎن ﺑﺮ ﮔﺎﺑﺎﻟﯿﻦ) و ادم ﻣﺤﯿﻄﯽ (ﮔﺎﺑﺎﭘﻨﺘﯿﻦ) ﻧﯿﺰ از ﻋﻮارض ﺷﺎﯾﻊ دارد. در ﺣﻘﯿﻘﺖ درد ﭘﺎﺳﺦ ﭘﺎﺗﻮﻓﯿﺰﯾﻮﻟﻮژﯾﮏ از ﺑﺎﻓﺖ زﻧﺪه ﺑﻪ ﮔﺎﺑﺎﭘﻨﺘﻮﻧﻮﺋﯿﺪﻫﺎ ﻣﯽﺑﺎﺷﻨﺪ (8). ﻋﻠﯽ رﻏﻢ وﺟﻮد ﺗﺮﮐﯿﺒﺎت داروﯾﯽ ﻣﺤﺮّك ﻫﺎي ﻧﺎﻣﻄﻠﻮب اﺳﺖ ﮐﻪ ﺑﻪ ﻋﻨﻮان ﻣﺤﺎﻓﻆ ﺑﺪن در ﺑﺮاﺑﺮ ﻣﺘﻌﺪد ﻣﻮﺛﺮ در ﮐﻨﺘﺮل درد ﺑﺎ اﯾﻨﺤﺎل ﺑﺪﻻﯾﻞ ﮔﻮﻧﺎﮔﻮن ﮐﻪ ﻣﻬﻢ آﺳﯿﺐ ﺑﺎﻓﺖ ﺑﻪ ﮐﺎر ﻣﯽ رود (1). ﺷﻮاﻫﺪ ﻧﺸﺎن ﻣﯽ دﻫﻨﺪﮐﻪ ﺗﺮﯾﻦ آن ﻧﮕﺮاﻧﯽ در ﺧﺼﻮص ﻋﻮارض ﺟﺎﻧﺒﯽ ﻣﺼﺮف اﯾﻦ ﺳﺎﻻﻧﻪ ﺣﺪود 100 ﻣﯿﻠﯿﻮن ﻧﻔﺮ در اﯾﺎﻻت ﻣﺘﺤﺪه اﻣﺮﯾﮑﺎ ﺗﺠﺮﺑﻪ داروﻫﺎﺳﺖ، ﭘﺰﺷﮑﺎن و ﻫﻤﭽﻨﯿﻦ ﺑﯿﻤﺎران ﺗﻤﺎﯾﻞ ﮐﻤﺘﺮي ﺑﻪ درد را ﮔﺰارش ﻧﻤﻮده اﻧﺪ ﮐﻪ ﻫﺰﯾﻨﻪ ﻫﺎي ﻣﺴﺘﻘﯿﻢ و ﻏﯿﺮ ﻣﺴﺘﻘﯿﻢ ﻣﺼﺮف ﺿﺪ دردﻫﺎ و ﺿﺪ اﻟﺘﻬﺎب ﻫﺎي ﺳﻨﺘﺘﯿﮏ ﻧﺸﺎن ﻣﯽ دﻫﻨﺪ. آن ﺑﯿﺶ از 635 ﻣﯿﻠﯿﺎرد دﻻر ﺑﺮاورد ﻣﯽ ﺷﻮد (2). از ﺟﻤﻠﻪ درد از ﻃﺮﻓﯽ، در ﺳﺎل ﻫﺎي اﺧﯿﺮ اﻗﺒﺎل ﻋﻤﻮﻣﯽ داﻧﺸﻤﻨﺪان و ﻣﺮدم ﺑﻪ ﻫﺎي ﺷﺎﯾﻊ ﻣﯽ ﺗﻮان ﺑﻪ اﺳﺘﺌﻮ آرﺗﺮﯾﺖ، ﮐﻤﺮ درد، ﺳﺮدرد و درد ارزﯾﺎﺑﯽ و اﺳﺘﻔﺎده از ﻣﻮاد ﻃﺒﯿﻌﯽ ﻧﻈﯿﺮ ﮔﯿﺎﻫﺎن داروﯾﯽ ﺟﻬﺖ ﻫﺎي ﻧﻮروﭘﺎﺗﯿﮏ اﺷﺎره ﻧﻤﻮد (2). اﻣﺮوزه از روش ﻫﺎي ﻣﺨﺘﻠﻔﯽ اﻣﺮاض ﻣﺨﺘﻠﻒ اﻓﺰاﯾﺶ ﯾﺎﻓﺘﻪ اﺳﺖ ﭼﻨﺎنﭼﻪ اﻓﺰاﯾﺶ واﺿﺢ ﺑﺮاي ﺗﺴﮑﯿﻦ درد اﺳﺘﻔﺎده ﻣﯽﺷﻮد ﮐﻪ ﻣﯽ ﺗﻮان ﺑﻪ اﺳﺘﻔﺎده ﺗﻌﺪاد ﻣﻘﺎﻻت ﭘﺰﺷﮑﯽ در ﺣﻮزه ﮔﯿﺎﻫﺎن داروﯾﯽ و ﻃﺐ ﺳﻨﺘﯽ (NSAID) ﻣﺨﺪرﻫﺎ، داروﻫﺎي ﺿﺪاﻟﺘﻬﺎب ﻏﯿﺮ اﺳﺘﺮوﯾﯿﺪي ، اﯾﺮاﻧﯽ ﻣﻮﯾﺪ ﺻﺤﺖ اﯾﻦ ادﻋﺎﺳﺖ (9). ﮔﯿﺎه زﻧﺒﻖ ﺑﯿﺎﺑﺎﻧﯽ ﺑﺎ ﻧﺎم ﺿﺪاﻓﺴﺮدﮔﯽﻫﺎ (ﻣﺜﻞ آﻣﯽ ﺗﺮﯾﭙﺘﯿﻠﯿﻦ)، ﺿﺪ ﺗﺸﻨﺞ ﻫﺎ (ﻣﺜﻞ ﻋﻠﻤﯽ Iris songarica Schrenk (ﺗﺼﻮﯾﺮ 1) ﻣﺘﻌﻠﻖ ﺑﻪ ﮔﺎﺑﺎﭘﻨﺘﯿﻦ)، آﻧﺘﺎﮔﻮﻧﯿﺴﺖﻫﺎي 2 آﮔﻮﻧﯿﺴﺖﻫﺎ (ﻣﺜﻞ ﮐﻠﻮﻧﯿﺪﯾﻦ و دﮐﺴﻤﺪﺗﻮﻣﯿﺪﯾﻦ) اﺷﺎره ﺟﻬﺎن رﺷﺪ ﻣﯽﮐﻨﻨﺪ ودر ﺑﯿﺸﺘﺮ ﻣﻨﺎﻃﻖ اﯾﺮان ﻧﯿﺰ روﯾﺶ دارد ﻧﻤﻮد(3) ﮐﻪ ﺗﺄﺛﯿﺮات ﺿﺪدردي آن ﻫﺎ از ﻃﺮﯾﻖ ﮔﯿﺮﻧﺪه ﻫﺎي (10). ﻣﺘﻔﺎوت اﻋﻤﺎل ﻣﯽ ﺷﻮد ﮐﻪ ﻣﻬﻢﺗﺮﯾﻦ آن ﻫﺎ ﺿﺪدرد ﻫﺎي ﻣﺨﺪري، ﻫﯿﺴﺘﺎﻣﯿﻨﺮژﯾﮏ و ﮐﻮﻟﯿﻨﺮژﯾﮏ ﻣﯽ ﺑﺎﺷﻨﺪ ﮐﻪ در ﺳﻄﺢ ﻗﺸﺮ ﻣﻐﺰ ، ﺳﺎﻗﻪ ﻣﻐﺰ و در ﻧﺨﺎع ﻣﻮﺟﺐ ﻣﻬﺎر درد ﻣﯽ ﮔﺮدﻧﺪ (4). اﺳﺘﻔﺎده از اﯾﻦ داروﻫﺎ ﻣﺸﮑﻼﺗﯽ ﻣﺎﻧﻨﺪ ﻣﻘﺎوﻣﺖ ﺑﻪ دارو، واﺑﺴﺘﮕﯽ، ﺳﺮﺧﻮﺷﯽ و ... اﯾﺠﺎد ﻣﯽ ﮐﻨﺪ ، ﺑﺮاي ﺗﺴﮑﯿﻦ درد در اﯾﻦ ﻣﻄﺎﻟﻌﻪ از ﻣﻮش ﻫﺎي آزﻣﺎﯾﺸﮕﺎﻫﯽ ﻧﺮ ﺑﺎﻟﻎ از دﻧﺪان، ﺿﺪ اﺳﭙﺎﺳﻢ و ادرارآور ﺗﻮﺻﯿﻪ ﺷﺪه اﺳﺖ. ﻧﺘﺎﯾﺞ ﻧﮋاد ﺑﺎﻟﺐ-ﺳﯽ ﺑﺎ ﺳﻦ 8 ﻫﻔﺘﻪ و در ﻣﺤﺪوده وزﻧﯽ 30- 25 ﮔﺮم ﻣﻄﺎﻟﻌﺎت ﻋﻠﻤﯽ اﻧﺠﺎم ﺷﺪه روي اﯾﻦ ﮔﯿﺎه اﺛﺮاﺗﯽ ﻧﻈﯿﺮ ﺟﻠﻮﮔﯿﺮي اﺳﺘﻔﺎده ﺷﺪ. در ﺗﻤﺎم ﻣﺪت آزﻣﺎﯾﺶ ﺣﯿﻮاﻧﺎت ﺗﺤﺖ ﺷﺮاﯾﻂ ﮐﻨﻨﺪه رﺷﺪ ﺳﻠﻮل ﻫﺎي ﺳﺮﻃﺎﻧﯽ، ﺿﺪ اﻧﮕﻠﯽ، آﻧﺘﯽ اﮐﺴﯿﺪاﻧﯽ و اﺳﺘﺎﻧﺪارد ( دﻣﺎ 24- 20 درﺟﻪ ﺳﺎﻧﺘﯽ ﮔﺮاد، رﻃﻮﺑﺖ ﻧﺴﺒﯽ -45 ﺧﻮاص ﺿﺪ ﻣﯿﮑﺮوﺑﯽ را ﺗﺒﯿﯿﻦ و ﺗﺎﯾﯿﺪ ﻧﻤﻮده اﻧﺪ(11). ﺑﺎ اﯾﻦ 40 درﺻﺪ، دوره روﺷﻨﺎﯾﯽ – ﺗﺎرﯾﮑﯽ 12 ﺳﺎﻋﺘﻪ) درون ﻗﻔﺲ وﺟﻮد ﻋﻠﯽ رﻏﻢ اﯾﻦﮐﻪ در ﻃﺐ ﺳﻨﺘﯽ رﯾﺰوم ﮔﯿﺎه ﺟﻬﺖ ﺗﺴﮑﯿﻦ ﻫﺎي از ﺟﻨﺲ ﭘﻠﯽ اﺗﯿﻠﻦ ﻧﮕﻬﺪاري ﺷﺪﻧﺪ. در ﻃﻮل ﻃﺮح ﻣﻮش درد ﺗﻮﺻﯿﻪ و اﺳﺘﻔﺎده ﻣﯽﺷﺪه اﺳﺖ ﺗﺎﮐﻨﻮن ﻫﯿﭻ ﻣﻄﺎﻟﻌﻪ اي ﻫﺎ دﺳﺘﺮﺳﯽ آزاد ﺑﻪ ﻏﺬاي اﺳﺘﺎﻧﺪارد ﺣﯿﻮاﻧﺎت آزﻣﺎﯾﺸﮕﺎﻫﯽ اﺛﺮات ﺿﺪ دردي و ﯾﺎ ﺿﺪ اﻟﺘﻬﺎﺑﯽ آن را ﻣﻮرد ﺑﺮرﺳﯽ ﻗﺮار (ﺷﺮﮐﺖ ﺟﻮاﻧﻪ ﺧﺮاﺳﺎن- ﻣﺸﻬﺪ) و آب ﺷﻬﺮي ﺳﺎﻟﻢ داﺷﺘﻨﺪ. ﻧﺪاده Accepted 5 August, 2013 A wide area of Iran is covered by arid and semiarid regions. In this survey, flora of an area of the Miandasht Wildlife Refuge, out of the safe part, was studied. This region covers 84435 Ha, situated in the west of Khorassan province in Iran. The climate of the area according to de Martone system is semiarid. The mean annual precipitation is 275 mm and the altitude varies from 931 to 1021 m above sea level. Plants were collected from 2008 to 2011. A total of 256 taxa belonging to 152 genera and 35 families from Angiospermae and Gymnospermae were found. Asteraceae, Chenopodiaceae, Brassicaceae and Fabaceae were the greatest families, respectively. Geraniaceae, Ixioliriaceae, Orobanchaceae, Plantaginaceae, Primulaceae, Resedaceae and Rosaceae, each included one species. Based on Raunkiaer life form classification system, majority of the species (55.86%) were therophytes. Other life forms in descending order were hemicryptophytes (15.62%), chamaephytes (10.16%), phanerophytes (8.6%) and geophytes (9.38%). Chorologicaly, most of the species were Irano-Turanian. Flora of Miandasht Wildlife Refuge include 20 low risk species and 29 (11.6%) endemic of Iran species.

The present paper reviews the advancements in the investigation of botany, ethnopharmacology, phytochemistry, pharmacology and toxicology of Belamcanda chinensis. Materials and Methods: Information on Belamcanda chinensis was collected from scientific journals, books, theses and reports via library and electronic search (PubMed, CNKI, Elsevier, ACS, Google Scholar, Baidu Scholar, Web of Science and Science Direct). Results: A number of chemical compounds have been isolated from Belamcanda chinensis, and the major isolated compounds have been identified as isoflavonoids, flavonoids and iridal-type triterpenoids. Among these active compounds, the effects of tectoridin and tectorigenin have been widely investigated.

The taxonomy of the genus has suffered dramatic changes in the last century, particularly in the last decades after the application of molecular techniques. As a result several contrasting systematic arrangements are currently available to taxonomists. Many genera that were split from Iris s.str. in the past, on the basis of morphology (e.g., Hermodactylus, Iridodictyum, Juno, Pardanthopsis, and Xiphion, among others), are now a priori re-included in a very widely circumscribed Iris s.l. (incl. Belamcanda). This resulted in a more heterogeneous genus that is more difficult to define on morphological grounds. Testing congruence between taxonomic treatments and the results of recent molecular studies of Iris has never been performed, mostly due to the lack of proper taxonomic context. Results: We generated several conventional phylogenies for Iris & outgroups using extensive sampling of taxa (187) and characters (10 plastid loci). We demonstrate that the natural history of Iris, written either as conventional molecular phylogenies or, if viewing in the context of the comparative approach, as a nested most parsimonious hierarchy of patterns, appear to be fully congruent with the narrow taxonomical treatment of the genus, restricted to the rhizomatous ‘‘bearded’’ taxa.

Sometimes the thin bearded form of iris is called “seashore iris” which in terms of the distribution, this type has a broad geographic area and has a variety of color and size. Present project has been done as a case study on surveying the effects of various mechanical and chemical treatments alone and in combination on eliminating the seed recession of the two subspecies (Iris spuria L. subsp. Musulaminica (Fomin) Takht and Iris Supria L. subsp. Halophila) in vitro. After washing by distilled water, outer shell of mature seeds of two subspecies removed physically. Then the seeds with and without scratches were treated with different concentrations of ethylene gas and GA3 in the natural environment with natural light of 40-45 micro molecule per square meters in growth module with 25±2 centigrade degree. The project results will indicate that in hormone free environments with seed soaking and scraping treatments and also in ethylene seed treatment without scratches no 1 germination would be seen.

Bhopal. 2 Professor Department of Botany Government M.V.M. Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. Abstract: Medicinal plants have been used in different systems of medicine from centuries. Among the most important medicinal plants Iris species have also been included in this category which belongs to family Iridaceae. It has wide range of medicinal and pharmacological uses. Rhizomes of some Iris species are rich sources of bioactive molecules, such as flavonoids, xanthones, stilbenes, simple phenolics, iridal type triterpenoids, quinines and irones. Isoflavonoids are the major constituents of all Iris species and about 50 different isoflavonoids in the form of diglucosides, triglucosides are reported in Iris. Consumption of isoflavonoids is reported to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer and also have diverse biological activities like antimicrobial, estrogenic and insecticidal. Further research work is needed to explore the wide range of applications of Iris species, so that maximum utilization can be done for human welfare. The aim of this review is to analyze already published work on ethnomedicinal and ethnoveterinary uses of genus Iris. Keywords: Iris species, Secondary metabolites, Medicinal uses. The pasture terri- tories of the Central Kyzylkum are distributed on sandy soils (14%), salt marshes (6%), gravelly- loamy gray-brown soils (75%) and riparian nature-territorial complexes (5%). The main (75%) areas of pasture are occupied by the gravelly-loamy gray-brown soils which are dominated by species of sagebrushes. There are formed of 8 pasture types depending on the properties of natu- ral complexes. The main type of pasture is sagebrushes (Mixto artemisieta), which occupy 60% of the pasture area, and then follow Peganeta harmala, Mixto calligoneta, Halocnemeta strobilacei, Tamariceta varia, Haloxyleta aphylli, Convolvuleta hamadae and Mixshrubs pasture types. The share of fodder plants is high (an average of 83%) in the flora of the study area. According to sea- sonal grazing, pastures of the Central Kyzylkum can be divided 5 groups: year-round, spring, spring-summer, autumn-winter and unsuitable pastures for grazing.

They exact a heavy toll of illness and death especially in developing countries. Common chemotherapeutic agents currently used are often inadequate, requiring long courses of parenteral administration, having toxic side effects or are becoming less effective due to the emergence of resistant strains. Thus, there is an urgent need for new, effective, and inexpensive drugs. Natural products are important sources of novel therapeutic agents in the fight against parasitic diseases. The goal of our research is to identify effective antileishmanial and trypanocidal agents from plant sources using a systematic approach. A natural products library of a representative diversity was screened for antiparasitic activity against Leishmania donovani and Trypanosoma brucei brucei. The active samples were further evaluated regarding their toxicity versus mammalian cell lines. From the results, the plant genus Psorothamnus was identified as a promising source of potential new antiparasitic compounds. ii Bioactivity-guided fractionation of the methanolic extract of Psorothamnus polydenius yielded the new chalcone, 2,2′,4′-trihydroxy-6′-methoxy-3′,5′- dimethylchalcone, together with six other known compounds, 2′,4′-dihydroxy-6′- methoxy-3′,5′-dimethylchalcone, dalrubone, demethoxymatteucinol, eriodictyol, oleanolic acid and photodalrubone.
