Evidence that Worms played a role in world history can be found in the City Museum Andreasstift. In one of the finest buildings in Worms — the former collegiate church of St. Andrew (“Andreas- stift”), a late Romanesque group of buildings with a picturesque inner courtyard — this museum displays in its permanent exhibi- tion a large number of archaeological finds from the Bronze Age and the New Stone Age (Neolithic Age). There is a good reason for a Nibelungen Museum in Worms: Worms is the city of the Nibelungs. And anyone who wants to explore the world of the Nibelungs should not miss the opportu- nity to visit the futuristic new museum building, which is inte- grated into the medieval city wall. Inside, the centuries-old myth is recreated by means of digital media. Visitors to the Tower of Vision learn all about the content and the origins of the saga, and the Audio Tower gives explanations of both the linguistic and the literary historical background.
