Since 1872, it lias been the good fortune of tlie author to record two hundred and thirty-eight letters (epistles) in the (/Jegiha, which is the language spoken by the Omaha and Ponka tribes of North American Indians. One hundred and sixty-one of these letters, with numerous myths, legends, and historical papers, appear in "Contributions to North American Ethnology. Vol.vi. The (pegiha language. Myths, Stories, and Letters;" and it has been decided to publish the rest of the letters in the present form. It is thought that the accompanying texts will be found interesting, not only because of their linguistic value, but also on account of their sociologic references. -

Pravidlá Slovenského Pravopisu S Abecedným Pravopisným Slovníkom
Pravidlá slovenského pravopisu s abecedným pravopisným slovníkom. Jediné ministerstvom školstva a národnej osvety schválené vydanie; výnos č. 120.432/31—1 z 2. IX. 1931. Učebná pomôcka pre všetky školy v ČSR. Vydala Matica slovenská (ako prácu svojej pravopisnej komisie). Nákladom Štátneho nakladateľstva v Prahe. 1931. Proti češtine sa uplatnil fone tický spôsob v slovenčine zvlášte v písaní zdomácnelých cudzích slov obecných, hlavne latinských a gréckych, a v složeninách s pô vodnou predponou z- (skaza, skaziť, stratiť proti čes. zkáza, zka- ziti, ztratiti ap.). čes. dvacet, tŕicet, padesát, deník, nádeník ap. a doterajšie slovenské dvadsať, tridsať, päťdesiat, denník, ná denník ap.). V tejto našej novej úprave slovenského pravopisu snažili sme sa aspoň čiastočne zjednodušiť a uľahčiť pomerne veľmi ťažký náš pravopis, priblížiť písané slovo skutočnej výslovnosti, odstrániť nie ktoré nedôslednosti v pravopise i vo výslovnosti a zaviesť pev nejšiu jednotnosť pravopisnú. -

There are many people who claim to be experts on vampire lore and legend who will say that they know all about Vlad Tepes and Count Dracula or that they can name several different types of vampiric species. I can do that, too, but that is not how I came to be a known vam- pirologist. Knowing the “who, what and where” is one thing, but knowing and more impor- tantly understanding the “why” is another. -
