We focused on our goals of cutting delays in applications, improving the quality of our work and increasing the efficiency of procedures. In particular, we were pleased to be able to eliminate the backlog in trade mark examination and reduce the backlog in oppositions during the course of the year. The OHIM processed some 75 000 trade mark applications in 2004 – thus eliminating the backlog of 35 000 applications that existed at the end of 2003. This remarkable progress was achieved by doubling the number of examinations, formalities checks and publications achieved in 2004 compared to 2003. The result is that 90% of trade mark applications are now published within 10 months of receipt. -

Amelia Jones volume is a contribution to the emerging field of the contemporary This historiography and cartography of curatorial knowledge production. It initiates a dialogue between the history of women’s museums and the practices of politically conscious and activist feminist curatorial projects. Women’s museums and feminist curatorial projects alike can now look back at the historical developments that led to their inception. In the future, additional research on women’s museums and feminist curatorial projects will be necessary to trace in-depth the political agendas, aesthetic strategies, theories, ideas, ethics, and practices which shaped them in the past and continue to be part of their future direction and transformation. Women’s museums were first initiated in the 1980s. Their beginnings were strongly associated with the struggles and goals of the second-wave feminist movement. -

LENTOS Kunstmuseum Linz Exposé The Naked Man (working title) 26 October 2012–17 February 2013 In the cultural public sphere, the viewer’s gaze takes the naked female body as a given. The erotically staged female nude has been taken for granted as a pictorial theme for centuries. The nude male body was assigned the role of the hero from ancient mythology or Christian salvation history. In mythological or Christian garb, the perfect male body stands for the whole of male ideality. The artists of Viennese Modernism began to declare their own bodies a field of public action and experimentation. Starting with Egon Schiele, Richard Gerstl, Kolo Moser and Oskar Kokoschka, the naked body was divested of any role, became a means of self-questioning. As is still evident today, the demythologization of the naked body enables self-questioning situated in the field of tension between eroticism, provocation, vulnerability and critical analysis. Beginning with this caesura around 1900, the exhibition follows the disrobed male body through crises of identity and phases of confidence, traces attempts to deconstruct traditional images of masculinity and the search for alternatives, shows the confrontation with weakness and vulnerability, illustrates the gaze of desire and the erotic pose.
