Rumlar, Cenevizliler, Galatalılar, Museviler; mahallelerinden kovulmaz- larsa Fatih Sultan Mehmed’in tersanelerine kıyamete kadar çivi yapmak için söz veren demirci Çingeneler... Ve halkı tarafından âdeta boşaltılmış şehri yeniden şenlendirsin diye Anadolu’dan göç ettirilen onca halk: Türkmenler, Kürtler, Ermeniler, Anadolu Rumları, Rumca bilmeyen Karamanlı Rumlar... Özgürlüklerini yitirmiş köleler: Kafkasyalılar, Afrikalılar, Avrupalılar. Bu halkların, ulusların, inançların bir araya gelişinin oluşturduğu bir kavram İstanbulluluk.
