GENERAL INFORMATION

Practical Tips

• Please download all meeting documents prior to the meeting to have them on your tablets or laptops. We will not be handing out any physical copies as we are aiming to be as sustainable as possible, so if you wish to have it please print it yourself before the meeting.

• You are expected to arrive at the Veranstaltungshaus Berliner Sparkasse, on Friday morning with the arrival time from 9:00 till 10:00. • Luggage can be stored at the meeting venue. Participants arriving on Friday can thus come directly to the venue if needed. We also advise anyone leaving directly after the meeting on Sunday to bring along their luggage to the meeting venue. • More information regarding travel reimbursements will be provided separately from this booklet. Please keep in mind that you will have to provide us with original receipts of your tickets and printout or original boarding passes, in case you intend to claim any reimbursement.

Meals and Coffee Breaks

• The International Office will provide all lunches, dinners and coffee breaks. Breakfasts are included in the hostel.

• Please bring your own water bottle for the weekend, to also refill in the breaks.

What to bring to the meeting

• Cash. There is no ATM close-by the hostel. In case you want to buy some snacks or drinks in the hostel shop, do bring money in cash

• Chargers for all your electronic devices • Power plug adapters (if you need them) • Electronic copies of the meeting materials; as well as a notebook and pen • Water bottle • Bring warm clothes which would be suitable for potential rainy days. We recommend that you check the latest weather forecast before coming.

• Towel and slippers for the hostel bathrooms

Venues

Meeting Venue

The BNC Meeting will take place in the Veranstaltungshaus Wannsee Berliner Sparkasse, a beautiful venue located in the outskirts of Berlin right by the lake called “Wannsee”. From the venue it takes about an hour to get to the city centre of Berlin with public transport.

Accommodation

The accommodation for the weekend will be in the Youth Hostel Berlin Wannsee,

located 5 min walk away from the venue. The Youth Hostel is in a funky building from the 70’s. You will be staying in four-beds rooms. All rooms have their own sinks, but the bathrooms are shared on each floor. Please note that we are not the only guests in the hostel and that there will be some families with small kids. Therefore, we ask you to respect the other guests and be as quiet as possible when passing through the hallways after 22:00.

TRAVEL INFORMATION

• Schönefeld Airport to the Veranstaltungshaus Wannsee The train station is located at the airport, just a short walk away from the terminal. The entire journey from the terminal to the hostel should take you approx. 1h15min Before entering the train, you need to buy a single ticket for zone ABC at the ticket machine. The ticket is valid for a one-way trip and all means of transport, it costs 3,40€ and you have to punch it before you enter the train. Take the train S45 in the direction S+U Bundesplatz. The train goes every 20 minutes.

Get off the train at S Schöneberg. Take the S1 in the direction Wannsee Bhf. The train goes every 10 minutes.

Get off at S From the station you have to walk about 10min to the venue.

When you arrive with the S-Bahn at Nikolassee, you need to take the exit Spanische Allee/. You have to take the stairs or the elevator up and follow the tunnel. When you exit the building you cross the street and walk over the bridge that goes over the highway. You follow the path through the small forest until you reach Kronprinzessinnenstraße.

• Airport to the Veranstaltungshaus Wannsee The bus station is situated in front of the main terminal at the airport. The entire journey from the terminal to the hostel should take you approx. 1h Before entering the train, you need to buy a single ticket for zone AB at the ticket machine. The ticket is valid for a one-way trip and all means of transport, it costs 2,70€ and you have to punch it before you enter the train.

Take the Bus 109 in the direction S+U Zoologischer Garten via Kurfürstendamm (goes every 10min)

Get off at S Bhf Take the S7 in the direction S Hauptbahnhof

Get off at S Nikolassee From the station you have to walk about 10min to the venue

When you arrive with the S-Bahn at Nikolassee, you need to take the exit Spanische Allee/Strandbad Wannsee. You have to take the stairs or the elevator up and follow the tunnel. When you exit the building you cross the street and walk over the bridge that goes over the highway. You follow the path through the small forest until you reach Kronprinzessinnenstraße.

• Main Train Station to the Veranstaltungshaus Wannsee The entire journey takes about 40min.

Take the S7 in the direction S Potsdam Hauptbahnhof (track 16, goes every 10 minutes) Get off at S Nikolassee

Take the S47 or S45 (the station is called Messe Nord / ICC) Get off at S Westkreuz (only one stop)

(You can also walk to S Westkreuz, the distance is about 600 meters) Take S7 (direction Potsdam Hbf)

Get off at S Nikolassee From the station you have to walk about 10min to the venue
