ENGLISH LITERATURE LECTURES Monday 10th October saw the fi rst of our Year 11 English lectures take place. Here at Glenmoor and Winton Academies we recognise how challenging it can sometimes be to effectively support students with revision at home when they are being taught so much in lessons. The English department have therefore begun a series of lectures that students, parents and carers are invited to attend in order to revise topics covered in class and pick up some handy revision tips and strategies that can be used together at home. Those that attended our fi rst Poetry lecture commented on how ‘helpful’ they found the event whilst one parent remarked how she now had ‘a whole heap of ideas’ to use with her son! Our next lecture takes place on Monday 31st October from 5:15-6:15pm in the Jon Egging Hall. The lecture will be based on J. B. Priestley’s An Inspector Calls and is open to all year 11 students, parents and carers – we hope to see you there. SPORTNEWS… We have had a brilliant half term of PE and Sport in the PE department! – 59 competitive school fixtures – 18 weekly extra-curricular sport clubs – 250+ Glenmoor and Winton students attending these clubs on a weekly basis Handball We kicked off (well, threw off!) Handball season this week with 2 victories against Purbeck school.
