Peace between Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Iran and Iraq is a difficult process, with many conflicting viewpoints. O'Connor said that, "Only Middle Easterners can rebuild the Middle East, but they need help from the West." O'Connor has spent much time in the mideast— first as a chaplain in the Navy, and more recently as president of the Near East Welfare Association, a charitable group that assists refugees in the Middle East. O'Connor was also one of three American Bishops designated to study prospects and obstacles of Middle Eastern peace.

Dermatologists prescribe a number of creams and solutions Rosemary Dejulio which help get rido f acne, however, are we aware of possible side effects which may occur? Usually not. The desire for a clear complexion surmounts any other worry. Acne, or acne vulgaris, is associated with adolescence, and glandular changes brought about by puberty, emotional problems, school and social problems. At one time, the advice given to those with acne was to make sure their nutrition and diet were good, avoid chocolates and sweets, and to drink at least eight glasses of water a day. Those home remedies are now considered to be myths. Dermatologists, including Dr. Darrell S. Rigel, now believe that common causes of acne breakouts are stress and hereditary. Hereditary acne is cystic, whereby inflamed cysts appear underneath the skin and cause acne breakouts. Vitamin A and E are recommended for acne, and doctors also prescribe an array of creams and solutions (such as Benzac-W, Cleocin-T, Retin-A, Desquam-X, etc.) to assist in clearing up the skin. Antibiotics are also used in combatting acne. Tetracycline, commonly prescribed, treats acne by preventing germ growth and reproduction. It usually requires about four weeks to affect acne, and clear the face. Despite its proven effects on clearing the complexion, tetracycline has many possible adverse reactions or side effects. It may affect the brain and nervous system by bringing on headaches. By Tina Filiato As the year 2000 approaches, Fordham is trying to assess its role as the Jesuit University of New York. Fordham projects the image that it carries on a Catholic tradition in every aspect of the college experience. But is this really the case? We asked the members of the Fordham community how Catholic their university is. Student Claudia Duque remarked that she did not feel a Catholic presence at CLC, "I went to an all girls Catholic school," Duque said. "They had Catholic images in the building: saints, crosses, pictures. We always had an opportunity to go to mass. There's nothing like that here." Duque went on to say that if she had not read it on the Fordham advertisement that she would not have known that Fordham was a Catholic institution. Maria D'Agostino also acknowledges the lack of an outward image of the Catholic spirit. "I went to Catholic school for 12 years and I always felt a religious presence," D'Agostino says. "I don't feel that here." D'Agostino, like Duque, mentioned the lack of religious imagery as a reason for her feelings,"The school looks like an office building." Schiller Rathjen, who also feels that the school lacks its projected image, offers this reasoning for it, "Fordham's Catholic, but it's not Catholic. Politics have a lot to do with it. I feel it's because there is a large non-Catholic population in the student body." Mehdi Oummih, who is Muslim, answered that he did hot feel the Catholic presence: "The priests look out of place. Where did you go duming Spring Break? Those who were lucky enough to get tickets headed to the Meadowlands and Madison Square Garden to see U2 (and how apt, it being the week of St. Patrick's Day!). It certainly wasn't hard for Bruce Springsteen to get two seats to the MSG show on Friday, March 20. There was a knock at the door and a voice Sugcirtess called my mother's name, "Miss Dorothy, Miss Dorothy it's me." And I knew that it was Baibra Jean. Not so long ago Barbra Jean was the ultimate intruder of my Saturday mornings slumber. Every Saturday morning like clock work she would appear at my door, always about nine thirty and always asking the same question, "Michael do you have a cup of sugar I can borrow?" A cup of sugar! For a cup of sugar my Saturday mornings, which I believed were specifically for sleeping late, were ruined. Barbra Jean was a neighbor who lived upstairs and who had adopted my mother as her confidant. She was a young woman, about 25 years-old, who spent most of her time gossiping about the men in her life. Henry over there, Marcus over there, all of whom I think were figments of her imagination, because Barbara Jean was no "looker." She had short hair that was dyed red, a bland light brown complexion with freckles, and she was bony. Not my idea of a raving beauty. And although I had been told by my mother that less attractive girls often have a wide variety of good looking boyfriends, in Barbra Jean's case I could not see it. I would not have minded these intrusions on my sacred Saturday morning slumbers if they cracked the stairwell door and watched as only occurred occasionally. But with Barbra I had been up until two thirty in the morning However, this time I was my most pleasant Barbra Jean opened the door to her apartment Jean they became a ritual.
