Agenda Item # 61. 2015 CHIEF BUILDINGOFFICIALREPORT As I reflect on this past year, I can't help but notice that they seem to be getting faster and faster. Ifeel like it's too often that I sit down to recap the year and all that the TMBA has done. The year 2015 started as a welcomed lull in the building industry, especially after the rollercoaster that was the last three years. We had a fairly uneventful spring slowly issuing permits and trying to clean up the projects that failed to finish the year before. Somewhere in July things started to pick up and we saw a sudden influx of permit applications and callsfor inspections, this too was a welcome sign as I had been keeping a watchful eye on the permit fees versus budget during the first two quarters. The third and fourth quarters showed significant growth over the first two quarters and really boosted the numbers for the year. This year we congratulated Jason on getting his certification and becoming a qualified building inspector. His contribution to the association has been one of knowledge and experience. Jason currently holds the reigns for ten of ourtwenty-one townships and is beginning to understand the challenges and rewards this job can offer. it has been an enormous relief for myself once again having someone that I can rely on to honestly and respectfully ensure compliance. This afforded me the opportunity to take my family on a two week vacation this year to Toronto and Cuba which was long overdue and greatly appreciated by myself and my family. As members of the Ontario Building OfficialsAssociation, Jason and I are with the Boreal chapter (you may remember we won chapter of the year in 2014). At the spring meeting held in Timmins I was nominated and elected as Chapter Chair. This duty requires attendance at two meetings in Toronto per year. (All expenses are paid by the OBOA). This gives me the opportunity to liaison with the ministry directly and voice the concerns of the inspectors in the north.
