An invitation to a special Piano Recital. Joanna Leach memorial Concert 2016 in aid of HOSPISCARE. Friday 17th June 2016 at 7.30 p.m. Blundell’s School, Tiverton, Devon. ANDREAS BOYDE – international pianist. Dear Concert-goer, On behalf of the Joanna Leach Foundation and its trustees, it is with considerable pleasure that I am able to invite you to attend the very special recital listed above. It is to be given by the internationally acclaimed pianist, Andreas Boyde. I also wish to advise you how to apply for complimentary tickets. (Only 150 available). The recital is being generously sponsored by the Joanna Leach Foundation. The exciting programme will include the following works: Beethoven : Sonata in C, Op. 53 ‘Waldstein Sonata' Johannes Brahms: Fantasien, Op. 116 • Arnold Schönberg: Klavierstücke, Op. 19 Interval during which refreshments will be available Robert Schumann: Carnaval, Op. 9 Andreas Boyde was born in Oschatz, Saxony in 1967. He has appeared in recital as well as soloist with orchestras all over the world including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Miami Symphony Orchestra and many others. Andreas studied with Christa Holzweißig and Amadeus Webersinke in Dresden and subsequently with James Gibb at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. In addition to his many recordings for European radio and television, Boyde’s discography includes works by Brahms, Schumann, Tchaikovsky, Dvorǎ k,́ Mussorgsky, Ravel, Scriabin and Schoenfield. He enjoys a close association with German radio, established by frequent broadcast recordings and productions. He also gave the European première of Paul Schoenfield’s Piano Concerto Four Parables, as well as the first performance of John Pickard’s Piano Concerto, commissioned by Joanna Leach (Athene Records) and is dedicated to him. Andreas now lives in London. He came over to the UK following the fall of the Berlin Wall and met Joanna Leach in 1993. Athene Records put on two Wigmore Hall recitals to establish him in the UK and released several broadcast recordings of outstanding live concert performances. Since Joanna's death in 2011, Andreas has been keen to support the memory of his friend through the formation and activities of the Joanna Leach Foundation and has given several memorable concerts all sponsored by the Foundation. Your request(s) will be acknowledged and your special numbered tickets will be sent to you by return email as a PDF attachment. Simply print off the tickets and bring them to the rectal. All seats in the chapel at Blundell’s are unreserved. It is anticipated that tickets will be in demand so please act promptly as they will be issued on a first come, first served basis. Tickets will not be available from any other source. Blundell’s School will issue tickets to its governors, staff, parents and students independently.
