1966 FERRARI 330 GTC LHD D E T A I L S Year: 1966 Conguration: LHD Price: SOLD D E S C R I P T I O N The Ferrari 330 GTC offered here was constructed in 1966 and sold to a Mr Milos via Franco- Britannic Autos, of Paris, France. Mr Milos retained the car for the next 17 years before selling it to another French resident, a Mr Jean-Francois Thoviste, of Boug-de-Thizy. The car remained with its second owner for the next 31 years before being sold in 1997 to a noted Ferrari collector by which time it had travelled only 15,000 kms from new. Purchased in partly restored condition by JD Classics in 2015, this GTC is currently benetting from a full restoration by marque specialists Le Coq and is being returned to its factory original colour specication of Grigio Argento bodywork and black Franzi leather interior. With full matching numbers, excellent provenance and offered in immaculate condition this example will provide the new owner with an excellent opportunity to acquire one of the most useable and stylish of Ferraris of the Enzo era. Please contact us for further details, price on application. The Ferrari 330 range was introduced in 1963 as a successor to the famous Ferrari 250. The rst model, the 330 America, was little more than a 250 GT/E with a larger engine and was quickly replaced by the 330 GT 2+2 in January 1964. This was an entirely new car with a redesigned nose and tail, four headlights, a wider grille, longer wheel base and adjustable koni shock absorbers. -

Many of you probably know Hill as a brilliant racer, notably the only American-born F1 champ, but he also wrote a number of eloquent, insightful articles for R&T, like this on the Ferrari 250 GTO. Enjoy. – Ed. When Olivier Gendebien and I were assigned to drive the new Ferrari GTO at Sebring in 1962, we were somewhat offended. Stirling Moss, Innes Ireland, the Rodriguez brothers, and other drivers were in sports prototypes, aiming for an overall win, and we wondered if there was a conspiracy against us. "Why are we driving this damn coupe?" There was an excellent reason Olivier and I were in the GTO. The Manufacturers' World Championship for 1962 was based on points scored by Grand Touring cars. Sports cars were now called prototypes, and while Stirling, Innes, and the others were running for the glory of the overall win, we were chasing points for the championship ... and earned the maximum by winning the GT class and finishing 2nd overall. As it turned out, the GTO was a delight to drive. That's probably because the emphasis put on the GTs to win the championship meant there was extra effort put into this car, so the GTO was a giant step beyond the Grand Touring cars built up to that point. -

To me it means I’m a member of the best car club anyone could be a member of. It means I get to meet people who share the same pas - sion I have for my favorite Italian car. It means I have made lasting friends and relationships. It means I get to see cars under normal circumstances I would never see. It means I have ample opportunity to drive my car on the track, with plenty of opportunities to go on scenic drives for the day –the weekend –and sometimes longer that that. It means I get to display my car in numerous concours, and have the opportunity to win trophies and awards. And It means about 25+ more items that I can add to the list. I bet you can even think of more than that. It’s so much more than just a car club, it’s an ability to participate in a life style that we all are so fortunate to have the means to do so. That’s what it is to me. Think about it, see what it means to you. We have a fantastic year of events coming up. By the time you are reading this, the Holiday Party, Kart racing, The Tech Inspection at South Bay Ferrari, The Nethercutt Collection, the Mullin Museum Run, and the Enzo Cruise In event would have passed. Up coming is The Ortega Run, the Willow Springs Driving School, the McDonald’s to McDonnell Douglas Run, and The Rancho Los Alamitos Run. -

'But step back for a minute and work out what makes the Miura so special. In 1966 there was nothing like it. Only racing cars and the obscure little French Bonnet/Matra Djet had mid-mounted engines. Ferrari's road-going mainstay was the traditional front-engined 275GTB. So when tractor magnate Ferruccio Lamborghini stole the attention of the Geneva Salon crowd with the Miura, people were shocked as much by its audacious mechanical layout as they were by its era-defining and stunningly gorgeous styling.' – Classic Cars, July 2004. Ferruccio Lamborghini's bold challenge to Ferrari had begun in 1964 with the 350GT but it was the arrival of the Miura - arguably the founder of the supercar class - that established Lamborghini as a major manufacturer of luxury sporting cars. Prior to the model's official debut at the 1966 Geneva Salon, Lamborghini cars were respected for their impressive mechanical specifications but they somehow lacked a distinctive persona. All this changed with the arrival of the Miura, named after Don duardo Miura, a famous breeder of fighting bulls. The Miura project first surfaced as a rolling chassis displayed at the 1965 Turin Motor Show but was not expected to become a production reality. Nevertheless, by the time of the Geneva Salon the following year, the first completed car was ready for unveiling to an awe-struck press and public. -

It was powered by Ferrari's Tipo 168/62 V12 engine. The "250" in its name denotes the displacement in cubic centimeters of each of its cylinders; "GTO" stands for "Gran Turismo Omologato",Italian for "Grand Touring Homologated." Just 39 250 GTOs were manufactured between 1962 and 1964. This includes 33 cars with 1962-63 bodywork (Series I), three with 1964 (Series II) bodywork similar to the Ferrari 250 LM, and three "330 GTO" specials with a larger engine. Four of the older 1962-1963 (Series I) cars were updated in 1964 with Series II bodies. When new, the GTO cost $18,000 in the United States, with buyers personally approved by Enzo Ferrari and his dealer for North America, Luigi Chinetti. In May 2012 the 1962 250 GTO made for Stirling Moss set an all-time record selling price of $38,115,000. In October 2013, Connecticut-based collector Paul Pappalardo sold chassis number 5111GT to an unnamed buyer for a new record of around $52 million. In 2004, Sports Car International placed the 250 GTO eighth on a list of Top Sports Cars of the 1960s, and nominated it the top sports car of all time. Similarly, Motor Trend Classic placed the 250 GTO first on a list of the "Greatest Ferraris of All Time." Popular Mechanics named it the "Hottest Car of All Time." 2010 Glenmoor Gathering will feature “Historic Motorcars of Cleveland” And Bizzarrini Sports Cars In 2010 the Glenmoor Gathering will recognize not one automobile, but a large group of them—“The Historic Motorcars of Cleveland”—automobiles built in Cleveland, Ohio, which once rivaled Detroit as a center for automobile manufacturing; you’ll see many examples in 2010. Among the Cleveland‐built automobiles on display will be famous makes such as Peerless, White, Winton and Stearns‐Knight as well as memorable makes such as Templar, Chandler and Jordan. Two of the best‐known and most popular electric automobiles were built in Cleveland—Rauch & Lang and Baker. For those with a passion for horsepower and European design the 2010 Gathering will recognize the talents of Italian designer Giotto Bizzarrini by displaying examples of some of his finest automobile designs. Bizzarrini’s 50+ year career included not only design and production of the Bizzarrini sports car but design work on the Iso Rivolta, Iso Grifo and Ferrari 250 GTO. The 2010 Gathering will also feature Italian “Super‐Bikes,” such as those built by Aprilia, Benelli, Bimota, Ducati, Moto‐Guzzi, and MV‐Agusta from the 1960's to present. (Europeans place motorcycle racing on par with Formula‐One. Ducatis' Desmosedici GP‐9 with V‐4 configuration produces in excess of 230 hp @ 17,000 RPM, which translates to top speeds over 216 mph). And, there’ll be the usual great American and European antique and classic automobiles—plus a few surprises—that spectators have come to expect at the annual Gathering. The 2010 poster artwork will feature two unique, one‐off American Classics: the last Duesenberg built—an SJ cabriolet with custom coachwork by Rollson—and a 1932 Peerless Sixteen sedan by Murphy, from the Crawford Auto‐Aviation Museum. -
