Located in the commune of Sant'Agata Bolognese, near Bologna. The company was founded in 1963 by Ferruccio Lamborghini, at the time he was the founder and owner of several companies. Sam Lamborghini, after founding the company, owns it for another 9 years. The current owner of the company is Audi AG. In the early 1960s, Ferruccio Lamborghini owned several companies and could afford to buy expensive cars. At different times he had a Mercedes 300SL, several Maserati 3500 GT, Jaguar E-type. He also owned several Ferrari 250 GT, different versions. But in every car he found some There are several versions about the reasons why Lamborghini founded his own company. All these versions are reduced to a conflict between Enzo Ferrari (companies owned by Ferrari) and Lamborghini. The most popular version, narrated by Ferruccio's son Lamborghini, states that Lamborghini went to the factory to Enzo Ferrari to complain about the quality of the clutch in my Ferrari 250 GT car. Enzo Lamborghini sent back with a desire to continue to engage in tractors, because in cars, and even more athletic, Lamborghini does not understand anything. Lamborghini returned to the factory, disassembled the transmission on its Ferrari 250 GT and found that the manufacturer of many of the same components as the Lamborghini tractors. In his warehouse, he found a suitable replacement, and the problem was solved after the assembly. Ferruccio decided that his car would be a V12 engine, this engine was also chosen for economic reasons. Ferruccio brought in the talented engineer Giotto Bizzarrini, who was previously developed for ferrari's V12. A prototype Lamborghini 350 GTV was unveiled to the public at the Turin Motor Show in October 1963. In March 1964, he was shown the first Lamborghini 350 GT. Sales of the production version were very successful. Born under the sign of Taurus, the logo of the car Ferruccio Lamborghini is decorated with the image of a bull. The success of the 350 GT was followed by the equally successful Lamborghini 400 GT, which brought sufficient funds for the development of the company's first true pearl, the legendary Lamborghini Miura. This prototype of the car was shown to Ferruccio in November 1965 at the Turin Motor Show, and in March 1966 a working version was presented at the St. Petersburg Motor Show. Miura was a great success - only 111 cars were sold during 1967 - and the company became known worldwide. In 1971, Lamborghini once again surprised the world with a prototype of the revolutionary new model Lamborghini Countach. Although the car began to be held only three years later (in 1974), until that time it remained in the spotlight at any car show. The prototype was fashionable, then vertically opening doors, rear air intake and a powerful 4-liter engine. However, in 1972 the company had a serious crisis - the contract for the supply of a large batch of tractors to South America was terminated. The lack of funds forced Ferruccio to sell part of its stake in tractor production, which Fiat bought. Ultimately, all tractor production became the property of the same Deutz-Fahr Group, which produces tractors and Lamborghini to date. In the seventies, the successful sale of lamborghini Countach kept the company afloat. Soon the production of cars was self-sufficient and profitable, but, nevertheless, Lamborghini sold its share of the Swiss - George-Henri Rossetti (George-Henri Rossetti) and Rene Leimer (Rene Leimer). Ferruccio Lamborghini died in 1993 at the age of 76. As a result of the oil crisis of the 1970s, sales of sports cars fell sharply. Lamborghini, in particular, faced financial problems, parts were demolished, orders for cars were sold for 2 years in advance, and buyers were very unhappy with this waiting period. As a result, in 1978 the company declared itself bankrupt. An Italian court was forced to sell the company. It was bought by the brothers Mimra Switzerland. The acquisition of Chrysler Corporation was another surprise. At that time, work was being carried out on Grafach's successor, the Lamborghini Diablo. Significant technical and financial resources were involved in the modernization of the company and its cars, and the end result was another success for the company - the Diablo model quickly returned the company to the world level. In 1994, Chrysler was forced to sell Lamborghini to an Indonesian investment group, M'tec (Megatech), led by Tommy Suharto, due to financial difficulties. For the same reason (financial problems) the company in 1998 again changed the owner, this time the new owner was Audi AG. The new owner once again strongly influenced the design were produced supercars, today Lamborghini Murci'lago. Audi's great technical capabilities helped create one of Lamborghini's finest sports cars. Lamborghini Cars are one of the most powerful, expensive and exclusive mass-produced cars. In addition, different models have their own unique technical innovations, such as carbon fiber body, high-tech V12 engines. The original style of cars designed by Franco Scaglione (Franco Scaglione), Touring, zagato, Mario Marazzi (Mario Marazzi), Bertone, ItalDesign and Marcello Gandini (Marcello Gandini) - known all over the world. In 2001, the company Sant'Agata Bolognese Lamborghini Museum was opened, in 2016 it was reconstructed and completely changed the exhibition. But, already under the leadership of Rossetti, the company together with BMW decided to create a car suitable for racing. However, the Lamborghini did not cope with its part of the problem, and the car was fully developed by the sports department of BMW. He later entered production and sale of the BMW M1. In 1986, the company created a Lamborghini VX to compete in the Group C competition. The car was built, but the problem with sponsors was forced to miss the season. VX was only one race on the track Jade Kyalami (Johannesburg) in 1986 under the control of Tiff Nidella (Eng. Tiff Needell). Despite the fact that the car showed a good result, the financing program was minimized.

Article from Road and Track: https://www.roadandtrack.com/motorsports/news/a18029/ferrari-gto- history/ Phil Hill on the Iconic Ferrari 250 GTO "Why are we driving this damn coupe?" By Phil Hill Apr 20, 2017 In honor of what would be his 90th birthday, we're republishing this story, from the January 2000 issue of Road & Track, by the legendary Phil Hill. Many of you probably know Hill as a brilliant racer, notably the only American-born F1 champ, but he also wrote a number of eloquent, insightful articles for R&T, like this on the Ferrari 250 GTO. Enjoy. – Ed. When Olivier Gendebien and I were assigned to drive the new Ferrari GTO at Sebring in 1962, we were somewhat offended. Stirling Moss, Innes Ireland, the Rodriguez brothers, and other drivers were in sports prototypes, aiming for an overall win, and we wondered if there was a conspiracy against us. "Why are we driving this damn coupe?" There was an excellent reason Olivier and I were in the GTO. The Manufacturers' World Championship for 1962 was based on points scored by Grand Touring cars. Sports cars were now called prototypes, and while Stirling, Innes, and the others were running for the glory of the overall win, we were chasing points for the championship ... and earned the maximum by winning the GT class and finishing 2nd overall. As it turned out, the GTO was a delight to drive. That's probably because the emphasis put on the GTs to win the championship meant there was extra effort put into this car, so the GTO was a giant step beyond the Grand Touring cars built up to that point.

The last front-engined sports racing car that was competitive on the world’s stage, the GTO was billed to the FIA as a “continuation” of the 250 SWB, and its legendary initials stand for “Gran Turismo Omologato”. 100 cars were required for homologated for Grand Touring competition, but only 36 were constructed with an additional three 330 GTOs (the same car with a 4.0-liter V-12), meaning that Ferrari was indeed able to convince the FIA that the GTO was an evolution of the SWB.

  • Ferruccio Lamborghini
Editorial In 1981, I started up my new Tonino Lamborghini Style and Accessories company. At the time I was assisting my father in the family group, but I felt the need to do something exclusively of my own, different from the world of engines. I have always been interested in design and accessories. I really liked brands like Gucci and Hermès and I was inspired by them to create an activity with signature branded products. Just as Gucci was inspired by the equestrian world with iconic elements such as a bracket or a bite, I took inspiration from the bearing, the piston, the springs, the suspensions. I’ve always loved products linked to mechanics and engineering. Thus, it was obvious for me that the first accessory that I realized was a watch. And this is the reason why in each product I create a special detail legend of a brand recognized throughout the globe as a beacon of luxury, exclusivity and Italian flair: these are the values of my brand. I hope my clientele understands my personal vision behind all my branded products: to spread the passion and spirit of Italy with unique and distinctive products, inspired by Italian industrial design and the Lamborghini family mechanical heritage. LAMBORGHINI MIURA SV COUPE Coachwork by Carrozzeria Bertone Registration no. LUC 38K Chassis no. 4818 Engine no. 30734 Above is a video the previous owner had made of the car driving in Hong Kong. 'But step back for a minute and work out what makes the Miura so special. In 1966 there was nothing like it. Only racing cars and the obscure little French Bonnet/Matra Djet had mid-mounted engines. Ferrari's road-going mainstay was the traditional front-engined 275GTB. So when tractor magnate Ferruccio Lamborghini stole the attention of the Geneva Salon crowd with the Miura, people were shocked as much by its audacious mechanical layout as they were by its era-defining and stunningly gorgeous styling.' – Classic Cars, July 2004. Ferruccio Lamborghini's bold challenge to Ferrari had begun in 1964 with the 350GT but it was the arrival of the Miura - arguably the founder of the supercar class - that established Lamborghini as a major manufacturer of luxury sporting cars. Prior to the model's official debut at the 1966 Geneva Salon, Lamborghini cars were respected for their impressive mechanical specifications but they somehow lacked a distinctive persona. All this changed with the arrival of the Miura, named after Don duardo Miura, a famous breeder of fighting bulls. The Miura project first surfaced as a rolling chassis displayed at the 1965 Turin Motor Show but was not expected to become a production reality. Nevertheless, by the time of the Geneva Salon the following year, the first completed car was ready for unveiling to an awe-struck press and public.

  • 2010 Glenmoor Gathering Will Feature “Historic Motorcars of Cleveland” and Bizzarrini Sports Cars
2010 Glenmoor Gathering will feature “Historic Motorcars of Cleveland” And Bizzarrini Sports Cars In 2010 the Glenmoor Gathering will recognize not one automobile, but a large group of them—“The Historic Motorcars of Cleveland”—automobiles built in Cleveland, Ohio, which once rivaled Detroit as a center for automobile manufacturing; you’ll see many examples in 2010. Among the Cleveland‐built automobiles on display will be famous makes such as Peerless, White, Winton and Stearns‐Knight as well as memorable makes such as Templar, Chandler and Jordan. Two of the best‐known and most popular electric automobiles were built in Cleveland—Rauch & Lang and Baker. For those with a passion for horsepower and European design the 2010 Gathering will recognize the talents of Italian designer Giotto Bizzarrini by displaying examples of some of his finest automobile designs. Bizzarrini’s 50+ year career included not only design and production of the Bizzarrini sports car but design work on the Iso Rivolta, Iso Grifo and Ferrari 250 GTO. The 2010 Gathering will also feature Italian “Super‐Bikes,” such as those built by Aprilia, Benelli, Bimota, Ducati, Moto‐Guzzi, and MV‐Agusta from the 1960's to present. (Europeans place motorcycle racing on par with Formula‐One. Ducatis' Desmosedici GP‐9 with V‐4 configuration produces in excess of 230 hp @ 17,000 RPM, which translates to top speeds over 216 mph). And, there’ll be the usual great American and European antique and classic automobiles—plus a few surprises—that spectators have come to expect at the annual Gathering. The 2010 poster artwork will feature two unique, one‐off American Classics: the last Duesenberg built—an SJ cabriolet with custom coachwork by Rollson—and a 1932 Peerless Sixteen sedan by Murphy, from the Crawford Auto‐Aviation Museum.

Marca Ferrari Modello 250 GTE racing by Sport Cars of Piero Drogo Visibile in Italy Regione Lombardy Prezzo Trattativa privata Descrizione Ferrari 250 GTE racing rebodied in the mid-60s by the Sport Cars of Piero Drogo in collaboration with Giotto Bizzarrini. Total restoration completed in 2003 and still in splendid condition. Some Historical: that Ferrari left the line in 1960 and was first sold in July 1961 in configuration 250 GTE 2+2. The GTE, first Ferrari's production 4 seater introduced in 1960, was developed starting from a 250 GT Coupe. Compared to that these new luxurious Gran Turismo were 200 mm longer, 60 mm wider and, perhaps most surprisingly, over 15 mm lower and only 80 kilos heavier. It didn't retain the GTE configuration for long for it was to be acquired by a famous gentlemen driver to be part of the batch consigned to Piero Drogo and Nembo. Quite a few 250 in all configurations would have been delivered to these workshops across the sixties for different reasons, mostly to be updated, kept competitive and to be fixed after crashes. He, an active gentleman racer since the late fifties, was a good friend of Enzo Ferrari and the whole Maranello/Modena bunch of lads. This obviously included Neri & Bonacini and Piero Drogo. An article on an issue of "Auto Italiana" from 1963 reports: "… a batch of Ferrari GT are being consigned to customers from a collaboration of Neri & Bonacini and Carrozzeria Sport Cars of Piero Drogo. (…) The 1961 Ferrari engine has 6 carburetors and has been updated with an upgrade and the conversion to dry sump.
